Chapter 1966: Thousand Vows Pavilion (2)

Chapter 1966: Thousand Vows Pavilion (2)

The Journey was boring and uneventful, something to be expected from high-speed travel. Some calamities detected his movement and tried to intercept him, but he was just too fast for them. The calamities gave up once they were being outpaced by him.

Through his Chaos Eyes, he found quite a lot of Rank 7 to Rank 9 Calamity on the way. It was a lot more than he expected, and he realized how dangerous this place could be for his team. Tang Shaoyang regretted not using Spirit Fusion for his team, but he could not just go back on his words and use the fusion on them.

Fortunately, there was no Unique Rank Calamity so far. The main base should be safe as long as Clementine and Arion are there.

’I need to get to my class as soon as possible.’

That was the only way he could protect his team from the danger. Thinking about the danger and his team, his mind turned into Arion and Clementine again. He could not help but blame them for everything. If only they could be a little more flexible and let him do this by himself.

Tang Shaoyang threw the thoughts away and focused on his search, "What am I looking for again?" He tried to recall the clues regarding the Thousand Vows Pavilion, but then he remembered there was no clue what kind of place he was looking for. The information told him to find Thousand Halls to enter the trial.

"Now I think about it, it feels like a scam. 100 million credits just for information, and I have to pass the trial to get the class as well. There’s a chance that I might fail the trial and not get the class. This is a scam."

[For what it’s worth, it might be a better class than most of your classes...]

Vandir paused as he realized the class being better than Spirit Contractor was close to zero. The Spirit Contractor allowed him to gain many abilities, levels, and more stuff. With the Spirit Integration, he could naturally learn his spirit’s elemental power as well. Added with the army of spirits as well, it was hard to find a better class than a Spirit Contractor.

[Yeah, I agree. There are maybe a few classes that are better than Spirit Contractor, a class that we don’t know about, or maybe there’s none.] Zara chimed in agreement that it would be hard for the God of Martial Arts to be a better class than Spirit Contractor.

[But maybe it’s as good as Spirit Contractor, and maybe better than the other classes. However, I do have high hopes for the Shepherd of Beast Spirit. While it takes time, I think it has the same potential as the Spirit Contractor.] Avyn voiced her thoughts about Tang Shaoyang’s newest class, having a different sentiment about the class than Tang Shaoyang.

The conversation continued. They talked about the new class, the potential of the new class, and what class he should get after the God of Martial Arts. His eyes were thorough, making sure not to miss something so obvious while listening to his spirits, selling him the class they favored.

It was like listening to a Podcast while searching for his main objective. Since it was a fallen faction, he might be looking for a ruin. That might be the clue to the place he was looking for, a ruin. He expanded the Chaos Eyes to maximum range while heading north.

Hours went by, and he was surprised that he had not reached his destination. He wanted to say that Arion might be lying, but he had not gone around the Skywound Realm yet. He was surprised because with his current speed, he might have circled the Earth several times.

His high-speed journey told him how big the Skywound Realm was. The realization of how big this world was dampened his mood. It meant it would take him much longer to clear the Skywound Realm. The worst part was that he had found out more than twenty Unique Rank Calamities. That was bad news considering how big this place is. Who knew there might be more than a hundred or maybe thousands of Unique Rank Calamities?

If he had to make an estimation, he had been flying for more than eight hours. He found several ruins, but that was the ruin of a city, the previous civilization. There was nothing called Thousand Halls, and he made sure to check everything in detail at it, maybe there was some clue for him.

He searched several ruins, but he got nothing. Most of the ruins were just rubble with some foundations covered with wild plants. There was not a single clue, and he doubted that he could translate any clues into use since he did not know the Skywound Realm’s language.

[Is it really in the north? Or your friend just tries to buy time by sending you here?] Vandir the Death King was suspicious of Arion.

[I don’t think that’s the case. Based on the rank of calamity we met on the way here, they are getting stronger as we keep going north. We expect this Thousand Vows Pavilion to be in the most dangerous area of this world, no?] Zara had been observing the surroundings and the calamity; she was right about it.

"What about you guys? Have you found something that might be our destination?"

Tang Shaoyang asked the scouting team. He spread out his spirits earlier and hoped to get something out of them. Unfortunately, the answer was no. While they found ruins, nothing of it looked like the Thousand Vows Pavilion.

The journey continued, not stopping until he found his destination. Another three hours passed, and the sky started to darken. This was where he should stop if he wanted to avoid the dangerous calamity. The night would awaken a different kind of calamity.

[I think you should be fine going at night. The predator will not bother you, especially if you don’t control your aura. They are looking for prey, not to fight someone to their equal.] Vandir suggested.

"I know what you are trying to do, Vandir. You want to go out and fight, right? You have seen a lot of stronger calamities and a new body for your experiment," Tang Shaoyang quickly caught what Vandir planned.

"You haven’t finished with my body, why do you want to gather more new bodies?"

He had not seen Vandir use his undead body again since the Trial of God.

[Halt!]

Avyn cut off the conversation, and Tang Shaoyang stopped in the air, trying to figure out why Avyn had asked him to stop. He could sense the urgency in her voice, so he thought there might be something related to her origin or something.

[Don’t you notice the difference? There’s no calamity around here.]

Only then did Tang Shaoyang realize that the area that was supposed to be densely populated with Calamity was quiet and uninhabited. He could not sense a single calamity, and even with his Chaos Eyes, he could not find a single calamity in sight. This never happened before, and this was the first time he encountered an area free of calamity.

The strangeness in the area alarmed Tang Shaoyang. There was only one reason why the area was empty. This area might be a territory of a strong calamity that there were no other calamities dared to enter this area. That was the logical explanation he came up with, which meant one of the strongest calamities in the Skywound Realm might reside in this place.

His spirits agreed with his guess as Avyn and Zara reminded Tang Shaoyang to be careful. The calamity that killed the Executive Administrator might be in this area.

Tang Shaoyang stayed in his spot for a while, hoping whatever hid in this place would come at him. He was cautious, but also confident that no calamity could one-shot kill him. With his Absolute Sense, he was confident that he would be able to block off whatever came for him.

After a few minutes of waiting, Tang Shaoyang decided to move on and explore the area. Despite his confidence, he stayed cautious, ready for everything that might attack him. At first, he was cautious and remained on guard for most of the time. Ten minutes passed, nothing happened, nothing found, nil.

Tang Shaoyang picked up his pace. The area was totally empty, not a single calamity in this area, but there was also no sign that a living being had stayed in this area either. He expected to find some bones, the remains of some calamity that became food for the master of this area, yet he found nothing.

The search continued for another half an hour until he found a mountain, and there was a city on the mountain. The city was intact, protected by a barrier. On top of the mountain, he found a small floating island with a building on top of it. His eyes were glued on the building on the floating island.

The moment his eyes landed on the conspicuous structure, he immediately thought of the Thousand Halls. He did not know how such a thought appeared in his head, but he was confident that the structure was his destination.

He did not immediately fly toward the floating island; instead, he followed the path on the ground. He reached the foot of the mountain, a red wooden traditional gate with a sign on it. There were two statues made of stone, standing with traditional armor and a spear in their right hand. There was no door, no guards; he could pass through with no problem.

Tang Shaoyang stopped in front of the gate and looked up at the sign. He thought that he would not be able to read whatever was written in this abandoned world, but he was wrong. He could read the sign, and it said "Thousand Vows Pavilion".

[The statues look suspicious!] Vandir reminded Tang Shaoyang in his head.

Tang Shaoyang gave a second glance at the statue, and it indeed looked suspicious. He could sense traces of energy from the statue.

"The statues are the guard, huh?"

He approached both statues, but neither moved even when he touched them. He shrugged and entered the gate. The barrier did not stop him from passing through, but he felt something when he passed through the barrier that caused him to halt his steps. It was like he was being scanned; that was what it felt like when he passed the barrier.

Something ran through his whole body, but it was too fast for him to do anything. Less than one second, and he did not expect something like that to happen as well, so he could not react in time. He might be able to prevent it if he knew it was coming.

[The statues are moving!] Avyn reminded Tang Shaoyang.

"Halt! You must provide your name and your reason for visiting!"
