Chapter 2052: Gift
Chapter 2052: Gift
"Can’t we really buy a couple from you? I will try to get them back from the other emporiums. Or I will pay you back with two couples if you can give the ones you won in the auction?"
Prince Olympe didn’t like the idea of his wife working as a beast spirit caretaker, even though it would make his daughter happy. That would tarnish the image of his family, and the people back home would look down on his wife if they found out.
"As I said, they are important for my class progression, and as you can see as well, my daughters are also attached to them. They already gave that one a name as well," Tang Shaoyang shook his head, "And if you can get two couples of Auspicious Mytherean, you should buy them for yourself."
"No, we will not buy them from you," Henriette spoke first before her husband gave a second try, persuading Tang Shaoyang, "I would like to take an apprenticeship with Azhug."
There was no conflict or clash during their conversation, which she was relieved about. There was a subtle bonding between the two families, and she didn’t want to miss this chance. This was a chance to form a connection with the Executive Administrator.
Tang Shaoyang might be new; his name didn’t have the same deterrent as the other Executive Administrators, but he was still an Executive Administrator. It would be just a matter of time for Tang Shaoyang to grow. She dared to take the bet that his name would spread quickly with his achievement.
This was just another safety measure for her family if something went south. The current king, who was Olympe’s grandfather, had not set a successor for the throne. The worst part was that there were at least five Grand Princes, the King’s son who had not given up for the throne, and then a bunch of ambitious princes and princesses who were willing to take the challenge.
The King announced that he will step down in two decades, but he also made it clear that he had not made a decision on who will be the successor. That announcement was five years ago, and the fight for the throne had resurfaced. People started to make a move, whether trying to persuade the nobles to join their side or creating their own force outside the Celeste Kingdom.
She and her husband didn’t want to be involved in any of that. They came to an agreement, and she was glad Olympe didn’t even hesitate to announce right away that he had given up on the throne. But that didn’t mean people would stop seeing her husband as a threat. People still looked at him as a threat to the throne just because of his blood. That was why they needed more assurance that these people would not touch her family, and a connection to the Executive Administrator was one of them.
Olympe wanted to say something, but he clicked his tongue instead when he met with his wife’s glare. He knew there was nothing that could stop her.
"That’s not for me to decide," Tang Shaoyang shrugged and directed her to the Ogre, "It’s up to him."
Azhug hoped that his boss would make the decision for him, so it would be less trouble coming to him. He looked at Prince Olympe, who also glared at him. He could tell the prince was pissed, but he was not going to do this half-heartedly.
"I don’t mind having you as my apprentice, Lady Henriette. But heads up, I am not going easy on you just because you are the Celes Kingdom’s third prince’s wife. I don’t care about your background, and I will treat you as strictly as my previous apprentice."
Henriette raised her hand toward her husband, stopping him from ruining her chance to work at Tang Garden, "I don’t mind, and I hope you don’t do that because I genuinely want to learn as well. This is not just for my daughter, but also for myself."
"Good. I don’t mind taking you in as an apprentice. We will be in need of more workers anyway with the expansion," Azhug offered his hand for a contract. "I will hand you the apprenticeship contract, and you can take your time to read it."
Henriette reached the massive hand for a handshake, and a window popped out in front of her eyes. She could tell she was the only one who could see that. That was the contract for the apprenticeship, a detailed one at that.
While Henriette was checking the contract, the door was open. Meira entered the room with more Beast Spirits, "I am sorry to interrupt your meeting, but I think I might have found what your daughters want, Sir." She was looking at Tang Shaoyang.
Meira had been outside the room for half an hour. She didn’t enter the room right away because Elonia told her they were in a discussion about something. She was told to wait and received a green light from Elonia before entering the room.
The Cladeos Emporium’s workers brought four cages of different sizes.
"It’s doggy!" Li Jiaying was the first one to run to one of the cages before Li Yue, Tang Xiulan, and Cecilia followed her to a medium-sized cage.
The four were just a meter away from the cage before the dog barked at them. The bark startled them, causing them to fall on their butts. The surprising one was how aggressive the dog was as it slammed onto the cage, as if it tried to attack the four little girls.
Tang Shaoyang appeared in front of her daughters and stared at the dog. The dog whimpered in fear, immediately retreating to the corner of the cage.
The dog startled them, but they looked sad when they saw the dog was staying at the corner in fear, "You scared it, Daddy."
"It’s his fault for attacking you, and I didn’t do anything to it either." Tang Shaoyang shook his head and helped them up. The four accepted his reasons and approached the cage cautiously. What happened earlier didn’t deter them from approaching the dog.
"It looks like a husky. Husky is quite smart but also spoiled. We need to give it attention all the time, or it will sulk. I had one before..." Li Jiaying didn’t finish as tears swelled in her eyes, remembering what happened to her old pet.
Tang Shaoyang hugged her, tapped her back gently, saying nothing. Meira misunderstood, thinking his daughter cried because of the dog’s aggressiveness.
"We are sorry for the early scare. This one has gone through a traumatic experience. Our hunters were using excessive force to catch it, and ended up killing its companion before capturing it. It’s not husky, it’s called Snow Muiryin, a battle-type Beast Spirit," Meira explained.
"It’s indeed known for its spoiled nature, but it is also known as a loyal Beast Spirit who will protect its contracted companion with its life. It will take time to heal from its traumatic experience, but yes, I bring him because of their loyalty trait." She added at the end.
"Let me show you another one," Meira said, showing the biggest cage, a brown-furred dog that was almost two meters tall. The fur was so thick that it looked like a lion, and for sure, this reminded me of the Tang Shaoyang Tibetan Mastiff.
The rich from his town like this one as a pet, and his old boss had one Tibetan Mastiff. Of course, this one was much taller, but this one exuded gentleness. It somehow had a resemblance to a bear as well, a unique one for sure.
"Don’t look at its size, this one is known for its gentle and protective nature as well. It’s called Highland Tiberian."
The third one was similar to the Snow Muiryin, but this one had a thicker fur, fluffier. The white thick fur covered down to the four legs, and its tail was certainly fluffier as well. It had cool blue eyes, and it was not alone. They were a family of five, three cubs and the parents.
"It’s called Olarune, and they are not a battle-type Beast Spirit. They are, in fact, gentle in nature and playful. It’s just that you might have a fur problem because it needs regular treatment if you don’t want it to look ugly."
The five Olarune were in a sitting posture for a dog, sitting at the edge of the cage with their tongues out while looking at them. Olarune quickly captured the heart of the four little girls, and Olympe brought her daughter to get a closer look as well.
It shared a similar look with Olarune, but it was much smaller in size. Their fur was thick, but weirdly thick, which made them look like a bundle. The moment they arrived in front of its cage, it let out a high-pitched bark and ran around inside the cage.
"It’s called Spitzer. It’s friendly, lively, with a load of energy, and quite intelligent as well. Of course, this one is also not a battle-type."
Tang Shaoyang didn’t really have any particular interest in them, but this was for his daughters, "So, which one do you want—"
"I want all of them!" Tang Xiulan, Li Jiaying, and Li Yue cut him off and yelled together. Li Jiaying was especially excited about getting the dog.
"Ah, I forgot to mention something, Sir. This is a gift from the Cladeos Emporium for you. You don’t have to choose; you can bring them all back with you, but I am unsure about that one, Sir. Do you want the Snow Muiryin?" Meira was concerned about the most aggressive dog.
