Chapter 2095: Convincing Show
Chapter 2095: Convincing Show
Lu An forgot to breathe for a moment as he witnessed what happened to the small fort. The whole section of wall fell into complete silence the moment that wall section was thrown into the air.
That shocked everyone, including Lu An. Despite the shock, he was still counting in his head. That was right; he was counting on how long it would take for Tang Shaoyang to destroy the fort.
He had such a deep confidence in his brother that he should be able to wipe out the army. It was just a matter of time, which was why he counted in his head. He wanted to know how long it took for his brother to defeat a few thousand troops.
Lu An started counting the moment the wall flew off until the battle was over. He stopped counting when the shadow that covered the fort disappeared. By that time, no one from their enemy stood anymore, and they could finally see what had happened in that fortress.
The whole ground turned into bubbling black lava with hundreds of people frozen. The lava didn’t melt the ice, which turned the sight eerie. Those bodies inside the ice were still floating, getting pushed up and down by the bubbling lava. It was not an exaggeration to say that it was a lake of black lava.
That was the end of the battle. They didn’t really see any fight that promised to them, but this fight showed him how strong the Emperor was. He might not have seen his brother’s full strength yet. The enemies clearly were not able to force his brother to make more moves than what was necessary.
That was when he received a message from his brother. Not just him; everyone seemed to wake from the stupor at the sound of the message.
Lu An opened the message, a message with only one sentence.
[Watch my spirits and skeletons’ battle!]
That was his brother’s typical message, straightforward. He looked up when he sensed a pulse of terrifying aura. His heart skipped a beat as his body jolted up in shock. It was fortunate that the aura didn’t have malicious intent, or else he would be on his knees right now.
He looked up and saw three silhouettes. His brother was in the middle, still in the Bloodline Transformation, and pointed in a direction. His brother guided the spirits and the skeletons.
Lu An finally got to see what looked like a battle between God Ranks. The worst part was that he realized how laughable his thoughts were. With his current rank and his Shadow Elemental Power, he thought his brother would put him to use in his fight. Now he saw the fight that he had anticipated, and he realized how small he was in this type of battle.
The enemy’s soldiers were Demi-God Rank and lower-ranked soldiers. A single sweep by the spirit crushed their bodies, split their bodies into pieces, and burned them to ash without being able to fight back.
A flying sword easily broke apart the defensive barrier that was set up by the soldier. It looked like the spirits were walking in the park while slaughtering the bugs.
It was not totally one-sided like how it went with his brother’s side. There was an actual fight between the God Ranks on this side. However, it was pointless, not because the spirits one-sidedly killed their opponent, but because he could not follow and understand what happened.
At one moment, they were on that side, then they reappeared on another side as all kinds of elemental powers devastated the land beyond repair.
When he thought he had seen all kinds of terrifying things, he saw something even more terrifying. There was this skeleton in a black robe. If not for the fact that it kept releasing the black aura and the undead it summoned, he would think that skeleton was just a high-ranked mob at most. It looked so ordinary on the outside, but that skeleton was the most terrifying among the spirits.
Each of its steps killed its surroundings. Not just the soldiers, but even the soil and trees. The soil turned black, making it look bleak. The falling trees immediately dried up and turned black as the leaves turned into dust.
The soldiers kept falling without even getting close to this skeleton. Everything it touched turned into death. He saw how the skeleton was casually grabbing a fleeing soldier. The moment it touched the soldier, the soldier immediately flopped down and died, turning black just like the surrounding area.
Lu An understood why his brother never got them to join his battle. If somehow a God Rank came to him or the others, they would die without being able to do anything. In the end, not only could they not help, but they would become his brother’s weakness.
The battle didn’t last that long. The spirits crushed their enemy first within twelve minutes, and the skeleton army won their fight three minutes after.
Lu An let out a sigh as a reality hit him. He was feared on Earth; people within the empire and the other factions feared him. In the grand scale, he was nothing but an ant. That realization hit him hard, realizing how laughable his idea about following his brother to his battle was.
He fully understood why his brother never brought any of them when he was going out there. The place he went to was the most dangerous place for them.
His girlfriend reached and held his hand tightly. So Yeon Hee knew him the most, and she quickly comforted him.
"I have been saying this, and I will say it again. You can’t use him as a comparison. He is one of a kind," She said in a whisper, but pretty much everyone could hear her. Those words applied to everyone.
Comparing themselves with Tang Shaoyang would just leave them in despair. By now, everyone’s dream to catch up to their Emperor was crushed by this show.
"I have forsaken that dream since our last sparring. I know it’s almost impossible to catch up, but I am not giving up. I might not be able to stand equal with him, but I will be a pillar of support he trusts."
The others might despair at this show, but Lu An didn’t give up easily. The others might get their spirits crushed, but his spirit was still intact, and in fact, this just stimulated him to work harder. It was never his intention to steal his brother’s spotlight.
The reason he could be here and reach this point was because of his brother, after all. If not for his brother reaching him, he would be one of the zombies that were killed by Tarrior by now.

Tang Shaoyang had a fear that this battle might not satisfy his people as to why he didn’t bring them into his battle. He was afraid that they might think he could protect them all from their enemies. People who came to a battle with that kind of thinking were dangerous, after all.
However, his fear was unfounded as he was greeted with a solemn silence when he returned. They looked in disbelief, similar to what he felt right now, but less intense. He could not believe how weak these three factions were.
He spotted his wives and landed next to her. Zhang Mengyao, Kang Xue, Jasmine, Ashley, and Liang Suyin were together. They had this dumbfounded look on their face, and their gazes remained on the remnant of the battlefield.
The first one to snap from her own thoughts was Liang Suyin. She slowly turned toward him as her red hair fluttered in the wind.
"This is not how your fight usually ends, right?"
Tang Shaoyang shook his head, "Of course, no. My last fight against the Shadow Star was quite intense. More than thirty spirits were actually killed, and it took me almost a day to finish them off."
"The actual battle is more intense than this. These three factions are on the weaker side," He added, hoping this would convince them not to ask him to bring them with him in his battle.
Not until they were ready, or else their death would be in vain. In fact, he never wanted to bring them to his battle when he had his own army. However, he was not ignorant enough to say that aloud. That would discourage his people instead.
"I see..." Zhang Mengyao muttered in a low voice. She felt bad that she poured her frustration on her husband last night, not trusting his judgment over this matter.
After witnessing the battle, she was aware that she would be a hindrance. Her husband would not be able to use that destructive skill if she were with him. She would be swept up in that skill and get herself killed, which would make her husband feel guilty for the rest of his life.
"I am sorry..."
Tang Shaoyang hugged her and kissed her forehead. He wasn’t upset at his wives because he understood their perspective. They just wanted to offer help to him. They wanted him to share his burden with them. Their intention came from goodwill, so he was not going to make this into a big problem.
