Chapter 2304: Atramendos
Chapter 2304: Atramendos
Not all Spirit Advancements trigger an evolution, but Karan and Zara did trigger an evolution when they reached the pinnacle rank of Archaic Spirit. It meant that when the spirit advanced to the pinnacle rank, it would undergo an evolution.
That was what happened to Karan and Zara. Doombringer triggered an evolution that was higher than it was.
The dead bodies that formed a small mountain were covered in a dark-red glow. The dark-red glow spread out, reaching out to the other piles. It kept spreading until the requirement corps was fulfilled.
The bodies burst into dark-red particles, then shot toward Doombringer. The big spirit was covered in dark-red particles, forming a cocoon. Doombringer was enveloped in dark-red light, forming a cocoon.
Then the cocoon started to float. It slowly rose into the air, going up into the sky. That was when the surroundings started to be influenced. The sky darkened.
It was not like dark clouds gathered above them, more like dark-red smoke covered the sky. It was more like the sky was covered in shadow where the sunlight could not go through. It was like night had arrived early.
The first thing Tang Shaoyang did was to send messages to his people, telling them not to worry about the phenomenon. He told them it was his spirit’s doing that underwent evolution.
Avyn, Karan, and Vandir wanted to go out as well, wanting to see the process directly. He summoned them all together; now they were watching and waiting for Doombringer to finish the advancement.
As the cocoon kept going up, it released a humming sound, and the cocoon was shaking. Then the cocoon pulsated with a dark red-orange glow, from the bottom going upward. The cocoon pulsated every five seconds, and it stayed like that for a minute.
Then the humming sound got quicker; so did the pulse. From one pulse every five seconds, it was pulsating every two seconds. Then the crack started to form from the top of the cocoon.
The cracks spread out with each pulse, and the cocoon was full of cracks in no time. From the cracks, the dark-red orange light burst forth as the cocoon broke apart. The blinding light lasted for fifteen seconds, being the only thing that shone under the dark sky.
[Doombringer the High-Rank Archaic Spirit has advanced to Pinnacle-Rank Archaic Spirit!]
[Doombringer receives a new title, Doombringer the Atramendos!]
The light might be blinding for others, but not for Tang Shaoyang. His Chaos Eyes could withstand the light as he kept looking toward the cocoon. He saw the new form of Doombringer that just came out of the cocoon.
Tang Shaoyang was a little bit surprised by the change. He expected the Calamity Behemoth to get bigger, yet that was not the case. The current Doombringer was slimmer and smaller.
Doombringer roared once more in his excitement, and his roar seemed to clear out the dark sky. The looming shadow in the sky dispersed after the roar as the blinding light faded, revealing his new form to the world, more like his Master and four comrades in arms.
Doombringer floated in the sky, standing on its feet as its front leg turned into a big arm with refined muscles. The rough exterior became smoother, glossy in a dark gray hue.
Originally, Doombringer had a pair of long horns that grew from behind his eyes. The pair of horns originally was dark-colored, but it turned dark red-orange, pulsating every ten seconds. They also grew longer, reaching up to two meters.
A pair of new horns also grew, right behind the original ones. The original horns were curved forward while the new horns were curving upward. They had the same color, but were a little bit shorter than the original horns. A mane grew around his neck. It was white and thick, fully covering the neck down to his chest.
The big change was located between the horns themselves. The back of Doombringer’s head turned into a transparent membrane, and something inside was glowing in dark red-orange. It looked like a mass of energy, but upon closer observation. Something like a core was actually floating inside. It looked like the source of that energy. It also pulsated just like the horn.
Right below the transparent membrane was where the spike started to grow. It started with a small protruding spike that was similar in color to his horn. The second spike was a little bit taller, and it went on. The highest spike was right on its back as it grew shorter again until it reached the start of its tail.
Doombringer’s tail was thick, around two adult or maybe two and a half adult sizes. There was a pattern that looked like spiderwebs, lines that intertwined with each other that were white. The end of its tail was like a mace, a round lump with a lot of spikes on it.
The tail changed; it suddenly turned into a spearhead, thin and sharp. Then it changed again, turning into a long blade as its tail stood like a scorpion’s tail. Then it changed again, and this time the tail turned into a mouth, a gaping mouth with thousands of teeth.
Doombringer looked down, looking at his Master and his comrades. A sly grin formed on its lips. Their minds were connected, and Tang Shaoyang could tell what Doombringer was about to do.
His figure blurred and landed in front of Tang Shaoyang with a boom. The dust rose, covering them all. With a single sweep of his hand, the dust was blown away.
This was what Tang Shaoyang meant by slimmer and smaller. Doombringer was originally over ten meters, but now it was about seven meters tall, standing on its hind legs. It was slimmer because it leaned into a humanoid, though not fully humanoid, form. The way it stood reminded Tang Shaoyang of a gorilla.
Doombringer stared down at Tang Shaoyang with its dark-red orange eyes. The glare was full of killing intent and resentment.
"He thinks he can kill me just because he advanced to Pinnacle Rank." Tang Shaoyang shook his head, clicking his tongue several times.
