Chapter 421 421: Roxanne’s Welcome
Chapter 421 421: Roxanne’s Welcome
"Likewise," Caius said, reserved and unsure what to make of her assessing eyes. He was far too hurried at the moment to give it any real thought so he just looked back at Keiran who seemed to trip over himself as he stepped aside and gestured into the Estate's main building.
"Right this way, My Lord," Keiran said, and he and his daughter, Lyanna, led the way down the main corridor, making many turns. They went past the waiting room whose entrance Caius had used the last time he was here and didn't glance at it.
The entrance in the waiting room was for members of the Coven who didn't have much importance, and while it was fine at the time because he was intruding, Caius was more than willing to use the much more private entry situated deeper inside the Estate. The one in Keiran's—The Leopold Family Head's—Study.
There, Caius pricked his skin with his claw and let his blood drip onto the marked ground as he recited the ancient chant that served as the password to activate the Arcane Circle. The chant was in Vampiric tongue and considering Caius had only heard it once when Arlette recited it last time, he did quite well with it.
Once the circle opened, he stood there and glanced at Keiran and Lyanna, the only two others in the study.
"See you later," he said.
"We will be waiting," Keiran said with a bow.
Lyanna bowed as well but she did it while not bowing as low as her father and keeping her eyes on Caius pulled his eyes away as he sank into the ground through the arcane circle and was gone from the Study.
Keiran let out a breath of relief. He had really been worried he'd piss Caius off. Kerwin, the Leopold Vampire Coven Leader, had made it abundantly clear that the future of their family hinged on Caius and that the manner in which he seized power mattered little to what they stood to benefit.
Technically, as he wasn't yet turned, Kieran wasn't under Caius's authority but the family's history and might were much too wrapped up with their vampiric side that was flourishing underground so his being human didn't really change much in terms of Caius's authority over him and the other human Leopolds.
"So," Keiran said to Lyanna by his side, "What did you think?"
"Did you sense it?" Lyanna asked as she looked at her father with wide eyes.
"Sense what?" Keiran asked, confused.
Lyanna turned away from her father's face and stared instead at where Caius had vanished. The place where the arcane circle was etched was invisible to the eye unless activated with the blood of a vampire.
"Divinity," Lyanna said in awe, "He's been touched by Divinity."
"Oh," Keiran said like he was pleased she was finally making sense, "Well, of course, he has. His authority over the coven is ordained by the Goddess of Primordial Darkness."
"Father, I know about that. And it's not what I'm talking about," Lyanna said, "A latent ordinance won't leave behind this level of… Divine concentrate."
"So what is it?" Keiran asked, curious now.
"I don't know," Lyanna said with a shrug, "At least, I can't be certain. Not yet anyway."
"Well, I believe you'll have ample time to be sure," Keiran said as he walked over to the large desk in the study and sat behind it,
"Lisasing with him on behalf of the Coven will be your duty from now on. Whenever it's necessary, of course."
There's hardly any reason to have a human liaison between a Vampire lord and their vampiric subjects so Keiran didn't think there'd be all that much opportunity on that front for Lyanna to have conversations or meetings with Caius. Still, it was good to at least be prepared for such an eventuality. Rare as it may be.
"Of course," Lyanna said with a smirk. Unlike her father, she didn't think opportunities would be so scarce. Not if she didn't care to actually wait for it and instead made the opportunities herself.
Liaising was her current duty but the truth was she was being groomed to take over from her father. It had been over five decades since Keiran had gone public with his inability to progress any further in his magical advancement and the belief was that he had been struggling long before that.
Of course, that was a lie. While Keiran wasn't supremely talented, he wasn't at his limit yet. In fact, since he made the public announcement, he had achieved the Seventh Circle while generally believed to be struggling for the Fifth.
Very soon, there'd be an announcement that Keiran had gone into seclusion to try one last time and after that, he'd be pronounced dead with a grand ceremony. After which, Lyanna would take over as head of the family as his only heir.
The believed dead Keiran would then be granted the 'curse' of immortality by Kerwin Leopold and join those before him beneath the Leopold Territory ideally with eternity to try as hard as he could to achieve the ultimate goal of the Twelfth Circle.
This manner of succession had been the way of the Leopolds for Centuries. When it started, it raised some eyebrows but now it's just accepted that their days of possessing incredible talent ended with Kerwin Leopold. Who was also the last Leopold with a zeal for magical advancement and greatness.
As far as the general public was concerned, the Leopolds only had their massive wealth from being a Merchant family and had secured that wealth by simply employing very capable guards.
And they weren't wrong.
The Leopold Guards were indeed capable. They had been indoctrinated with similar means as the members of 'Ophiuchus' with vows that made them ready to lay down their lives for the Leopold family and its secrets.
In any case, the Leopolds remain mostly a powerful family even though they ensure to keep that strength secret. But even with that, Lyanna is still a diamond in a sea of their Gold.
When Keiran introduced her as his pride and joy, it hadn't been just him being a doting father wishing to gush about his daughter. He absolutely meant it.
Magical advancement had always just come easily to Lyanna. And her eyes, those liquid gold orbs, seemed capable of seeing all. An example of their sight would be how she had 'seen' Caius's affiliation with Divinity on a level greater than just the ordinance from Nyx.
How did she possess this sight? No Leopold knows. Not even her father.
Lyanna stepped back from the arcane circle but she kept her eyes on it as she took a seat. She crossed her legs, her tongue trailing out of her mouth to run lightly across her lips as she awaited the eventual return of her Lord.

Caius felt as he had felt the last time. It was like he was sinking and then his feet touched solid ground as he began to descend even further.
Above him was a ceiling and ordinarily, this was expected as this was underground after all. However, this looked different from a cave roof and looked more like a room ceiling. Looking at his surroundings, Caius confirmed that he indeed was in a room.
It was adorned with decorations of red and white and looked quite grand and furnished. Like a chamber worthy of nobility and with the air that came with such.
Confused, Caius moved his eyes about and when they fell on the body lying on the large bed in the center of the room, on top of red and white satin sheets that matched the motif of the beautiful room, he knew who was responsible for this.
"Roxanne," he said with a sigh as the platform he was on landed on the ground.
Roxanne lay on the bed, her beautiful platinum blond hair down like a curtain on the sides of her head, her sexy face glowing in welcome. Her form on the bed was sheer tempting perfection. The way her curves flowed from her shoulders to the small of her back where there was a perfect dip to accentuate the arch of her plump ass.
Her breasts were pressed into the bed enough to cause the peaks to spill out and catch the eye in a way that would get an arousal even from a dead man. Caius, despite being the horndog he was would actually boast of his self-control and yet, there was an instant uncomfortable tightness in his pants at the sight.
"My Lord," Roxanne responded to the call of her name in a lascivious tone as she then changed her position so she was sitting at the edge of her bed instead. Her hands were gripping the mattress as she leaned forward to further show off her breasts spilling out from the low-cut lingerie-like gown she was wearing.
"You brought me here," Caius said. It wasn't a question.
The private entrance was linked to many locations. It was a means of convenience for the members of the Leopold Coven Council who could use it to arrive directly in their chambers. However, the default location was the Council hall and that was where Caius had been expecting to land because he expected the council to be gathered and ready for the meeting he was here for.
Clearly, Roxanne had hijacked the Arcane Circle to bring him here and treat him to an admittedly, sexy and ravishing view of her incredible body.
