Chapter 1475 Dare
Chapter 1475 Dare
Fire.
In all her years of living, the princess had never seen so much all at once.
Scarlet light poured from the skies. Everywhere she looked, fiery attacks blazed down on them. The temperature boiled in an instant.
Beside her, Magnus and Kiara's expressions had paled. The attacks came from all sides… they were surrounded.
Still, an fierce frown sat on the princess' face.
'How dare they.'
That someone would dare ambush them… people needed to be taught their place.
She raised her hand toward the sky, eyes glowing gold.
"Divine shield!"
A golden beam burst from her palm. As it reached the sky, it exploded into an all encompassing dome.
The fiery attacks struck in an unending wave of explosions that shook the entire forest.
The princess' eyes narrowed the next moment.
'Hard.'
The very thought disgusted her. That a bunch of lessers would stress her will to such extent.
'I'll crush their skulls.'
The light in her eyes grew brighter, but then sharpened. Her shield hadn't taken care of all the attacks. Some had phased through it, like it didn't exist.
'Shit!'
Not all attacks were from gods. Some were from other champions! She spun towards Kiara and Magnus with urgency.
"Take cover!"
But the duo was already moving. Magnus became lightning, Kiara a streak of gold. As the attacks reached, they weaved through each one, deftly evading them. They hit the ground in a concussive burst that shook the earth.
A moment later, the princess breathed a sigh of relief.
'They're fine.'
But the coldness in her expression only deepened. She blamed only one person for this.
The Great Verge.
been the one who dared restrict someone of her magnificence. If he hadn't done something so stupid, would any of these insignificant ants dare raise their heads in her presence?
'I'll pummel him after this.'
The princess' eyes sharpened as the smoke that engulfed her shield vanished, but what she saw next froze her heart.
Larger and fiercer attacks rained down from the sky, blotting out the sun. The sheer heat and power they radiated hissed and warped the air.
She gritted her teeth, and poured even more will to her shield. It flared, glowing brightly just as the attacks hit.
'Fuck!'
The princess staggered back, teeth clenched hard as the pressure mounted.
"Princess!"
Kiara's worried scream barely reached her.
'No… no.'
Cracks spread across her golden shield, and an unimaginable amount of pain assaulted her being. Yet, she refused to accept.
That a bunch of lessers could best her will… impossible.
'I am greater than all. Nothing can make me bow.'
"Princess! We should run!"
Kiara called out once more, but the princess didn't even turn to her.
The very thought of escaping had never occurred to her. It didn't matter who they were or what they wanted Atticus was under her protection. Magnus was under her protection. Kiara was fucking under her protection.
Yet, these fools had dared attack them.
Her face twisted into pure outrage as she roared.
"You lessers should know your place!"
Her will flared around her in jagged bursts, shooting into the shield. It grew thicker, the cracks mending.
But the attacks only pressed down harder. The princess stumbled, coughing a mouthful of blood as more cracks formed on her shield.
Words could not do justice to the ache she currently felt, like a million needles constantly stabbing into her.
Yet, the light in her eyes only grew fiercer.
She was the greatest. The most divine.
Nothing in this world would make her fall.
She roared, pouring in even more will. The shield blazed brighter, spreading out and swallowing the attacks in domes of gold.
In the next moment, they fizzled out into smoke.
"Huff. Huff. Y-you lesser bastards."
The princess staggered sideways, struggling to gain her balance. Blood leaked from her mouth, and her eyes were bloodshot. Her will had become a flickering mess, like a candlelight struggling to stay lit.
"Princess!"
Kiara dashed to her side and caught her.
"Y-your will… A-are you okay?"
She stared at her with worry, but the princess shakily flicked her hair back.
"O-of course! W-who do you think I am?" She squinted at her. "Hmm, since when did you become two, Kiara? Do you have a twin I don't know about?"
"Princess…"
The worry in Kiara's eyes only deepened.
"We need to leave now."
Magnus' serious voice snapped them out of their reverie.
He approached Atticus' still figure and lifted him over his shoulders.
"He's right princess. We need to run."
The princess only heard one word.
"R-run!?"
"Yes princess! I doubt they'll bombard us like that just to let us go. Your will is injured. We need to leave!"
"T-the great don't run from their lesser!" The princess barked, before coughing up more blood.
Kiara knew her lady well, and hadn't even waited for a response. She hoisted the petite princess over her shoulders.
"K-Kiara! The hell are you doing! Unhand me! How dare you!"
"I'm sorry, my lady. You can punish me later."
Her eyes were resolute as she nodded at Magnus. They were about to move when multiple figures dropped from the sky.
'We're surrounded.'
Despite her pain, the princess forced her composure in place. She tapped Kiara who slowly lowered her, then exchanged a tensed glance with Magnus.
'Redflames…'
Multiple figures emerged from the haze, each with their sinister eyes fixed on them. They were donned in molten armor, with fiery scarlet hair and eyes.
Steam rose from their blazing bodies.
"Yes!" One shouted, staring straight at Atticus, "We found him first! Oh, we're going to receive the Viscount's praise!"
But it wasn't only him.
'They're all staring at him.'
The princess' eyes grew cold. Each of their gleaming eyes were fixed directly on Atticus. She could smell their desire from a mile away.
'It's him they want.'
Since she met Atticus, she had thought it odd that he always seemed to have enemies coming after him. Even the territory lord he battled at the Baron layer had been after him. Now, the Redflames.
'A bounty?'
