Chapter 1476 Lessers
Chapter 1476 Lessers
The princess shook her head. It didn't matter.
The princess' will was barely more than a flicker. She felt pain shoot through her from every movement.
And though they were surrounded by multiple Viscounts and their champions, whose power dwarfed hers by a large margin, the princess still lifted her chin to the sky, eyes cold.
"The hell do you fools want?"
The scorched forest turned dead silent.
The eyes of the Redflames finally left Atticus and focused on the petite blonde who could scarcely stand.
"Pfft!" As one burst into laughter, the others followed.
"Who allowed a child to participate in this game?"
"I think the question should be what world is ruled by a child?"
Their laughter grew, and the forest was filled with the rumble of men, until it wasn't.
"When I heard the name Redflames, I expected warriors. I expected heat. But all I see are panting dogs. You lot are proof that fire can burn bright and still be pathetic."
The laughter froze in their throats. Many stared, as though trying to comprehend what they'd just heard. Had she just called them… panting dogs?
The air grew hotter.
"Oi, little girl. Do yo—"
One took a step forward, eyes burning, but was held back by another with a calmer demeanor.
"Child." He said, "We do not care for you or the other two. We're here for him."
He gestured towards Atticus and his voice grew cold.
"Hand him over, and we don't have to fight."
Lightning crackled across Magnus as he held Atticus tightly. But the princess only scoffed.
"A bunch of lessers making demands. I've never heard anything more absurd in my life."
She tilted her head slightly.
"These three are under my divine protection. Who the fuck do you think you are targeting any of them?"
The man's expression twisted, and he released a breath, shaking his head.
"You will regret your decision."
His will blazed like fire and he vanished, flickering in front of Magnus, hand whipping towards Atticus.
A golden light ignited between them as the princess appeared in a swirl, leg snapping toward his head.
"Slow."
The man ducked, evading the kick that ripped past his face. He stomped forward, will spiraling around his fist as he drove it forward.
The princess' eyes constricted. She crossed her hands, forming a flickering shield just as the attack crashed into it.
It held for a second before the flaming fist tore right through, hitting her crossed arms in a storm of fire. She careened back as fire engulfed her.
Yet, despite her pain, in that split second, her hand reached out and grabbed Atticus' arm just as she tore back in a streak of gold.
Clutching him tightly, she skipped across the scorched ground before crashing into a cliffside, carving a deep crater.
"Fuck!"
The princess threw up another mouthful of blood, gasping. Dust clouded her vision, but the roars of explosions and footsteps approaching her told her just how dire the situation was.
Moving felt like she was trying to lift the world. Yet, she gritted her teeth and shakily stood to her feet.
'W-where am I?'
The princess felt something in her grip and glanced down.
'R-right.'
Now she remembered. She'd placed this anomaly under her protection and a bunch of lesser fools were trying to take him.
'How dare they.'
She released a shaky blast and cleared the haze, only for a flaming fist to fill her vision.
'Shit.'
She threw herself sideways, rolling roughly with Atticus as the attack exploded against the cliff. Massive chunks broke loose, slamming to the ground.
Huff. Huff.
The princess forced herself to stand, staring coldly as multiple Redflame gods approached her with calm steps.
You're outnumbered. Outclassed. Your will is broken," the calm Viscount said, smiling. "Get on your knees and beg. Maybe then we'll make your death painless."
The others crackled, spreading out and surrounding her.
Her eyes were blurry, legs barely standing, yet, the light in her eyes still shone bright.
"Lessers… know your place."
A fist impacted her stomach with force. The princess' eyes widened as she was hurled back, slamming into a boulder with force. She fell to the ground, clutching her stomach.
'I didn't see him move.'
She clutched Atticus' arm tightly.
'They want me to leave him.'
Her will was injured, and it had begun to affect her senses. Her vision was a blurry mess, and she could barely hold a thought.
Another punch drove her back into the boulder, followed by a hard grip around her throat holding her in place. The princess tried, but she could not escape the iron grip.
Her blurry eyes barely caught sight of the calm Redflame Viscount from before. Only now, there was nothing calm about him.
"Release him."
The man tried to pull Atticus from her grip, but she held on tight.
"I won't ask you again."
His palm grew red hot, sizzling her neck.
She gritted her teeth, and despite her pain, no scream came from her.
Just let him go, and all of this torture would end.
She knew this fact well, but she was unwilling. She had placed Atticus under her care, and she would see it through.
"Lesser trash… I'd sooner die than obey filth like you."
The man's eyes darkened.
"So be it."
The princess shut her eyes as the man's will engulfed her in a blaze. But nothing occurred after a second. '…It's not hot?'
She blinked her eyes open and was shocked. Though flames engulfed her whole body, she didn't feel the slightest bit of heat. Instead, it felt… comforting.
A piercing scream snapped her out of her daze. She blinked her eyes, trying to make sense of the situation.
The screams came from the man gripping her neck. A red hot liquid like flames had engulfed his whole body. And he screamed as his face and body melted.
'What… what is going on?'
The princess felt a pull. She turned and saw a pair of ocean blue eyes staring straight at her. Only one thought echoed in her mind as darkness claimed her.
'He's… awake.'
