Qi Taiguo didn’t sleep all night. When he got home, Cheng Su wasn’t there, probably went to school.

He didn’t care, just lay down and slept. Around five in the afternoon, he felt an itch on his nose. Opening his eyes, he saw Cheng Su using her hair to tickle his nose.

"So naughty!" Qi Taiguo grabbed her hand, pulled her hard, dragging her onto the bed, and deftly rolled over, pinning her down, his lower body rubbing against her thigh.

Cheng Su’s face flushed red, she pushed him hard and said, "Go away, go away, it’s not even dark yet."

With that, he rubbed her harder.

Cheng Su’s face turned even redder: "Get off! I have something to ask you!"

"Ask away." Qi Taiguo casually said, both hands moving down.

"What was last night’s sudden task about? Wasn’t it some people who took over a hotel?" Cheng Su clapped his hands away and asked.

Qi Taiguo’s hands paused, he rolled off and nodded, "Yeah, seven people, they killed three innocent civilians."

Cheng Suxin felt a chill in her heart, "That’s just insane. Are you okay?"

"I’m fine, I’m perfectly okay. They say they’re terrorists, but really they’re just ordinary people who haven’t had professional training, easy to deal with. They just want to incite chaos." Qi Taiguo said coldly.

Cheng Su was silent, then asked, "Are all the hostages safe?"

"Some are injured!" Qi Taiguo hesitated for a moment, turned around to look at her, and said, "Last night among those hostages was the Yanjing investigation team, Chiang Qing and the others were in there."

"What?" Cheng Su was shocked, sat up and said, "They were there too?"

"Yes, they were investigating over there yesterday, and happened to stay at that hotel last night!" Qi Taiguo said.

Cheng Su furrowed her brow, "Could it be such a coincidence? Did someone find out they were staying there and deliberately went there to kidnap them? You know, killing someone in a high position would cause even bigger chaos!"

Qi Taiguo was stunned, he hadn’t thought of that angle yet.

"What you said makes some sense." After a long while, Qi Taiguo frowned and said.

Cheng Su said, "These people won’t just stop there; they want independence, more things like this will probably happen in the future."

Qi Taiguo looked at her in amazement, she seemed quite certain.

Cheng Su felt a little uneasy, touched her face, "I’m just guessing."

Qi Taiguo responded with an "oh," pulled her hand and said, "Susu, I’m sorry!"

"What are you apologizing for out of the blue?" Cheng Su hesitated for a moment.

"Last night, Chiang Qing was among those kidnapped, and I rescued her." Qi Taiguo’s eyes showed some vexation, "Susu, I know very well she’s our enemy, I know she threatens us, yet... I still saved her!"

Cheng Su saw the hostility in his eyes, held his hand and said, "Taiguo, you did the right thing. You are a soldier, and the duty of a soldier is to protect the nation’s property and people. No matter the grudge she has against us, in such a situation, she’s just a persecuted compatriot. Saving her was the right thing to do. You don’t need to apologize."

"But I feel bad inside, her threat is too great."

"If you didn’t save her, you’d feel even worse. No, if you chose that outcome, you’d bear it for a lifetime." Cheng Su softly comforted, kissed his hand at her lips, "You did right, and you honored the military uniform you’re wearing. I’m proud of you."
