Chapter 1390: Chapter 1391: Make Plans for Yourself Early
As the year approaches, the streets are everywhere adorned with red lanterns, and the stalls by the roadside are filled with red couplets. Everything in sight is a sea of red, even the clothes stalls set up by the vendors radiate with a festive spirit.
Some children are on the streets wearing cotton-padded jackets, setting off firecrackers that go off with loud bangs, bringing a smile to Cheng Su’s face.
The festive atmosphere these days is still quite strong, unlike in the twenty-first century when the more society progressed, the more the festive spirit seemed to dwindle, and the New Year felt devoid of any atmosphere.
Taking the bus to the factory, in front of her, a vast expanse of brand-new factory buildings came into view, and near the factory, there were also small houses constructed or simple sheds erected, starting small businesses.
Cheng Su got off the bus, nearly thinking she had gone to the wrong place, but the entrance was indeed her own company’s.
The guard saw her and respectfully greeted her.
"Why are there so many small houses and iron sheds, when were they erected?" Cheng Su asked.
"They were built last month. I heard the government appropriated the land over there and set up these temporary structures to rent out for small businesses!" The guard smiled and said, "They’re here for our factory!"
Cheng Su responded with an "Oh" and said, "You’ve worked hard!"
She walked into the office, where Mai Yanmei was delighted to see her, and the busy finance staff all stood up to greet her.
"Where is President Ning?"
"He went to the operation room with Manager Xiao!" Mai Yanmei poured her a glass of water.
Cheng Su sat down and asked the finance department how the accounts were going with the holiday approaching.
"All settled, here’s the report!" Gu Liqing handed over a report.
Cheng Su took a sip of hot water, opened the report and leafed through it, asking Gu Liqing about this year’s dividends and such.
The Cheng family just invested this year, so calculating the profits and such is naturally more complicated.
But Gu Liqing truly is capable, keeping the accounts clear and well-organized. Cheng Su looked at them; this year’s profits were excellent, and after deducting various expenses, costs, wages, and such, she and Ning Ge could each take home about fifty thousand.
"Hey, why have you come? Weren’t you feeling under the weather?" Ning Ge entered with Xiao Pinshan and asked.
Cheng Su replied, "The holidays are about to start; I had to come and check how the accounts are doing. Also, I’m feeling much better now!"
"It’s cold and the roads are slippery; be careful," Ning Ge said with concern.
"Yes, are the inspections finished? How’s the new factory building?" Cheng Su asked.
"Care to take another look?"
Cheng Su nodded; she wanted to see the progress, too.
Ning Ge stood up again and said to Xiao Pinshan, "No need for you to accompany us; you may continue with your work."
"Alright!"
The two put on construction helmets and walked out of the office. The factory wasn’t completed yet but was in the final stages, though it was still rather cluttered everywhere. Ning Ge didn’t dare let Cheng Su go too far in, only pointing out things from outside.
"Once it’s completed, the new equipment can be installed..." Ning Ge said.
"The key is the sewage system; it must be handled properly. After all, running such a large factory, the business must be sustainable for the long term. If there’s pollution in the future, it will be troublesome to manage. It’s better to handle it well now!" Cheng Su said.
"I agree with that reasoning."
The two of them walked around thoroughly before they were done, and Cheng Su asked, "Are you still doing that thing?"
"Huh?"
Cheng Su looked around before quietly saying the word "agent" with a smile.
Ning Ge laughed and said, "I’m still temporarily in that department; there’s not much else to switch to at the moment, and if I do switch, I wouldn’t be able to manage the business here."
Cheng Su paused, looking at him, and after a while said, "If your heart isn’t in the business, you should start planning for yourself sooner rather than later!"
