Qi Fenglian explained, "Mom said when she closes her eyes, she feels like someone is standing next to her, glaring at her. She says it’s the lady who rode in the same car with her." She pulled Cheng Su aside and whispered, "I asked around, that lady died. She was crushed right on top of mom, and blood splattered onto her, so she’s scared."

Cheng Su understood; her mother-in-law was either being superstitious again or genuinely frightened. After all, it was a terrifying ordeal.

But no matter how scared, it’s not the time to be willful.

Cheng Su walked over and said, "Mom, you’ve done the check-up and need to rest for a few days. The doctor said you can be discharged soon, and we’ll take you home then. But now isn’t the time. Didn’t you say your whole body hurts?"

Mother Qi bit her lip.

"The hospital has good conditions for you to recover quickly. Maybe you could even help with the baby later. But if you go home now and can’t get proper treatment, you’ll take much longer to recover. How will you hold your grandchild then?" Cheng Su hit her soft spot.

As soon as she said that, Mother Qi’s eyes fell on her belly, and she became more anxious, "I understand. You hurry up and go, and don’t come again. The hospital isn’t clean; be careful not to get something dirty on you."

Cheng Su’s mouth twitched, feeling a bit creeped out. Without overthinking it, she said, "Mom, you haven’t rested well, you’re overthinking, there’s no such thing."

"Yes, Mom, you should get some sleep. The doctor also said you need more rest!" Qi Fenglian added.

"Let Taiguo’s wife go back. You take care of me here. Does your dad know I’m here? You and Dad—and Fengping—are enough. We don’t need her!" Mother Qi clutched Qi Fenglian’s hand.

"Alright, alright!" Qi Fenglian looked at Cheng Su, extremely helpless.

Soon, medical staff came to take Mother Qi for a full-body examination, and Qi Fenglian quickly followed.

Cheng Su said to Deng Weixia, "You should go back to work first. I’ve already informed your head chef!"

"What do you plan to do now?" Ning Ge sat down and asked.

With Mother Qi’s accident and her leg injury, making her immobile, she needed someone to care for her, which meant one less helper at home.

Father Qi was old, Qi Fenglian’s son was still with them, Qi Jianguo was at school, Qi Fengping needed to study for exams, Qi Fenglian herself had to work, and she had a daughter to look after. And with her own pregnancy approaching, she couldn’t take care of her mother-in-law, and she needed someone to care for herself!

So all these arrangements needed to be carefully organized and distributed.

Cheng Su thought for a bit; on her end, she could ask her own mom to come help. If that didn’t work, there’s still Liu Wenjing, and worst case, just pay a bit for help. If all else fails, hire a nanny.

As for her mother-in-law, after being discharged, she could rest in their hometown. Once Qi Fengping’s exams were over and if she got in, she wouldn’t start until September, which means a couple of months to help. Jianguo’s summer break could also allow him to return home, and Xiao Yun could go back for the summer. Even just helping with cooking and looking after the little brother would be helpful.

Thinking of this, she said, "They say having a big family is important. When something happens, there’s always someone to help. It really makes sense looking at it now."

Thank goodness Mother Qi had many kids. Otherwise, with only Qi Taiguo, there wouldn’t be anyone to lend a hand!
