"Congratulations to us both," Father Qi replied, grinning ear to ear. "We just finished the worship and killed a chicken at home. We were about to send Jianguo to invite you over for a meal!"

"Then I came uninvited at just the right time!" Father Cheng laughed heartily.

"Exactly, let’s have a few drinks to celebrate today."

"Sounds good, sounds good!"

As the in-laws arrived, the Qi family naturally prepared a warm welcome. Once the table was set, they ate and drank wine, creating a lively atmosphere.

After two drinks, Father Cheng said, "When Susu was pregnant, we raised about ten chickens at home, intending to bring them over when she gave birth. Now that Mother Qi’s mobility is limited, her mother is taking care of her and can’t come back. I was thinking of bringing those chickens over in a few days. Since we’re making the trip, is there anything you’d like us to take?"

Mother Qi said, "We have raised some too, and we’ll definitely pick out some of the fattest ones to send over. Our daughter-in-law giving us a grandson is a huge contribution, she deserves the best care. If you ask me, one chicken a day wouldn’t be too much." Full nutrition means more milk for the grandson!

Father Cheng felt satisfied hearing this; at this moment, he felt generous.

"When do you plan to go over? Why don’t we go together? It’s hard to handle so many chickens alone!" Father Qi suggested.

"Sure, let’s go together to see the grandson. I hear he’s doing very well." Father Cheng agreed happily.

Father Qi laughed, "Neither of them is unattractive, so the baby is surely handsome!"

"Indeed, indeed!"

Mother Qi listened from the side, feeling itchy at heart. She very much wanted to see her beloved grandson, such a wonderful grandson.

But looking at her leg still in a cast, she felt terribly frustrated. She wished she could recover immediately and walk briskly.

The two families agreed to bring the chickens over in a few days when Cheng Su is discharged from the hospital. Father Cheng then left.

Mother Qi could not hold back and said, "Why don’t I go along too?"

Father Qi glanced at her leg and said, "How will you go? Look at your leg, needing someone to carry you in and out. How can you go? Don’t cause trouble; it’s not too late to see them when you’re completely healed!"

Mother Qi felt sour inside, "Can’t you just take me and let me have a look? I don’t know how long it will be before I can see my grandson once my leg heals!"

Heaven knows she waited for a grandson for many years. Now that she finally has one, she can’t even see him, like watching meat in the pot but not being able to eat it!

Even Heaven is unfair, granting her this misfortune.

Mother Qi felt even more sour, her eyes slightly reddened.

She wanted to see her grandson!

Mother Qi wiped her eyes and mumbled, "Of course you say so since you can see the grandson; you don’t know how bad this makes me feel!"

Father Qi said grumpily, "Then I will look at him several times and come back to tell you in detail, how about that?"

Mother Qi gave him a sideways glance, said nothing more, and continued to wallow in her woes over her lame leg.
