Cheng Su said, “We’re all neighbors, what’s there to be polite about?” She then looked at Qiulan and asked, “How’s your pregnancy going? Is everything alright? You should have told me earlier, why did you keep it a secret until now? If I hadn’t seen you today, when were you planning to tell me?”

Qiulan took a small piece of watermelon and bit into it, saying, “The pregnancy has been fine, which is why I didn’t mention it. It’s not that I wanted to hide it from you, I just thought since it’s not obvious, it’s okay not to say anything.”

“But you shouldn’t have, working in the restaurant isn’t easy,” Cheng Su chided.

Qiulan said, “I actually find it alright; I don’t need to do heavy lifting, just writing menus for the guests.”

Cheng Su disagreed, saying in a restaurant, you walk back and forth, and if a guest spills tea and you’re not careful, you could slip. Not to mention, as a floor manager, you often have to communicate with the chefs in the kitchen, which can be a slippery area.

“Our family situation is decent now, Xiao Jiang and my father-in-law want me to rest at home and take care of my pregnancy. They said we don’t need my salary,” Qiulan said, gently touching her belly, with a face full of happiness. Clearly, her husband and father-in-law treat her very well.

Cheng Su nodded. Old Song and the others hold shares in the restaurant, so they indeed don’t have financial worries. Now that his wife is pregnant, Song Xiaojang, being an only son, is naturally anxious. It’s not surprising they have such thoughts, so she asked, “What do you think?”

“Sister Su, I really like this job. Getting here hasn’t been easy, starting with just us two managing, to now… so in my heart, I want to work until the baby is born. But as my belly grows bigger, my appearance really isn’t ideal, and my uniform doesn’t fit,” Qiulan said with a blush, “You know Xiao Jiang lost his mom early on.
