Chapter 1841: Chapter 1843: I Have No Say in This
Cheng Su sat in the living room, comfortably sipping tea, thinking of Little Yu who had transformed, and couldn’t help but show a relieved smile as she looked out the window.
In the past, she helped her as a way to repay kindness, and now she’s really accomplished something. Isn’t that more meaningful than just giving money?
No matter what, kind-hearted people always have their destined fate. I hope their family will keep getting better.
The door clanged as Father Qi and the others returned. Cheng Su stood up and said, "You’re back? It must be cold out there, right?"
She hugged Qi Xiaoqi, touched his hand, and got up to pour hot water into his bottle for him to drink. She also didn’t forget to hand hot tea to her parents-in-law to help warm them up.
"Why didn’t you have Sister-in-law Zheng stay for dinner before she left? We just saw her saying she was leaving at the courtyard," Father Qi asked.
"It’s far for her to go home, and if she eats here, it would be too late when she returns, plus it’s not convenient to stay the night since she has elderly and children at home," Cheng Su replied.
Father Qi acknowledged with an ’oh’ and asked, "Is there nothing else to worry about?"
"Nothing special, just mentioning that she acquired a new shop on West Street in town and plans to open next year. This is good news, the business is expanding!" Good news should naturally be shared with the family, which is Cheng Su’s usual practice.
Father Qi was indeed delighted to hear this and said, "It’s not easy for a woman. Since her husband once showed kindness to Taiguo, you and your husband should help her more. That’s the foundation of being a person—never forget kindness."
"Dad, we know!" Cheng Su laughed.
Mother Qi remarked in surprise, "A bun shop has already opened several branches? Are they that delicious? Who doesn’t know how to make buns?"
"They are quite popular, well managed too," Cheng Su said lightly.
Mother Qi muttered, "Back then, you should have let your big sister buy shares too."
The smile on Cheng Su’s face slightly faded.
"That’s her craftsmanship. What shares are there to buy?" Father Qi scolded her.
Mother Qi shrank her neck, glanced at Cheng Su, and said, "It’s an investment, right? Doesn’t matter who invests, and if they’re opening a new shop, they can invest too!"
"There isn’t an additional investment needed for the bun shop, but a franchise channel has been opened. If Big Sister is willing, she can open one and be her own boss," Cheng Su saw Mother Qi’s eyes light up and continued, "However, the franchise fee is one or two thousand!"
"Even for family?" Mother Qi was taken aback.
"Even Sister-in-law Zheng’s grandaunt had to pay the franchise fee to open a branch and learn the skills from the main store," Cheng Su said.
Mother Qi pursed her lips and said, "That’s what they say, but for family, who knows if they really charge it? You’re not involved in the business, how would you know what’s really going on?"
Cheng Su laughed, "Yes, I’m just an investor who only collects dividends annually, so the decision-making power here isn’t in my hands. So, franchising and all must follow the regular channels; there’s no distinction between acquaintances and outsiders."
Mother Qi was slightly embarrassed being turned the tables on her.
"Alright, go cook, it’s getting dark!" Father Qi noticed his wife starting to act stubborn and quickly urged her.
Cheng Su stood up, "I’ll do it. Dad, it’s cold today. Let’s have hot pot for dinner!"
Father Qi naturally agreed.
Cheng Su went off to busy herself, leaving Mother Qi still sulking. When she left, Mother Qi muttered, "Fenglian is her big aunt; how can she not help, yet be so eager to help outsiders!"
Qi Xiaoqi silently gave her a glance from his bottle.
"Fenglian has her own family now and a business; having no worries for food and drink, what more does she want? Stop being envious and get busy helping to pick some vegetables or something!" Father Qi glared at her.
Mother Qi reluctantly got up.
