Chapter 1879 - 1881: Be My Senior Secretary
Chapter 1879: Chapter 1881: Be My Senior Secretary
Ying Xiaoya said it made sense for Cheng Yaozu to be depressed, because he always said he was better than Ning Ge—he had a wife and was about to welcome a little princess. But now, Ning Ge already had a son. Could he still boast that he’s better?
So, when Cheng Yaozu heard this, he confirmed with Cheng Su three times in a row that he would indeed have a child later than Ning Ge, which left him quite dejected.
But soon after, he was happy to hear Ning Ge still didn’t know yet, and with a mischievous smile, he said, "Even if Ning Ge knows, so what? Having a son, so what? Whether the son’s mom will give the son to him, and whether she’ll marry him, that’s still uncertain, right? Speaking of which, I’m still better. Ah, it’s such a pity I can’t see his face when he finds out about his son. That would be something to see!"
Cheng Su looked at his animated antics and found it amusing. Look at this friend of his, delighting in someone else’s misfortune, really deserves a good slap.
"Let’s not tell him for now, let him stew for a few days." Cheng Yaozu said.
Ying Xiaoya glanced at the two and said, "Be careful when he finds out you knew and didn’t tell him, he might turn on you, that’s not what friends do!"
"Know what? I don’t know anything!" Cheng Yaozu scratched his nose and reached to touch her belly: "Is my little princess behaving today?"
Cheng Su twitched the corners of his mouth.
"Miss, Mr. Zhan is here, he is talking to the Old Master, they want you to go over." The servant came to invite Cheng Su.
Cheng Su stood up, she thought about coming to Guangcheng for the New Year, so she hadn’t gone over the accounts, and that’s why she called Zhan Qin over to report today.
Zhan Qin was talking with the Old Master. When he saw her coming, he just nodded without getting up. Cheng Su didn’t mind and just sat down by the side to wait.
"If you want to talk business, go to my study." Old Master Cheng waved his hand.
Cheng Su was not polite and borrowed the old master’s study to discuss issues of the Seafood Shop with Zhan Qin.
Zhan Qin handed her the ledger, got straight to the point, and discussed the operations of the past six months and plans for the coming year.
Cheng Su was engrossed in the accounts, and after a while, she closed the book in surprise. They made a profit in the past six months, and a considerable one at that. She thought it would take at least two years.
Perhaps her overly shocked expression displeased Zhan Qin, who frowned and said, "What kind of expression is that?"
"I thought, at best we wouldn’t lose money, but I didn’t expect such a profit." Cheng Su exclaimed.
Zhan Qin’s face grew darker as he said, "If there’s no money to be made, why open a shop or do business at all?"
Cheng Su grinned sheepishly: "Isn’t it more about keeping the shop going?"
Zhan Qin snorted with pride: "This little shop doesn’t even warrant a second look!" That prideful expression seemed to say this was just a minor achievement.
His proud demeanor didn’t bother Cheng Su; a capable person deserves to be proud, and the impressive performance Zhan Qin delivered made her very satisfied.
Cheng Su’s eyes sparkled: "You think little of a small shop, so how about tackling something bigger?"
Zhan Qin looked over.
"Be my senior secretary." Cheng Su said to him: "Help me manage my businesses and execute my decisions, among other things."
Zhan Qin was talented, and merely managing a small shop seemed to underutilize his skills. She had several ventures that might expand in the future, yet she lacked a proper secretary. She needed help, and Zhan Qin was just the talent she needed.
In retrospect, when the old master gave her this person, he must have known she needed someone like him, and considering the excellent report card Zhan Qin delivered, she was willing to take a gamble.
"Delegating power?" Zhan Qin asked.
"Yes!"
"Deal!" Zhan Qin said with a charming smile, extending his palm for a light high-five with her.
