Chapter 1881 - 1883: Reunion
Chapter 1881: Chapter 1883: Reunion
As soon as Qi Taiguo returned home, he was surrounded by the whole family; Mother Qi held his hand tightly, wiping her tears and saying he was tanned and thin. Father Qi scolded her for being unlucky, saying it’s rare for the family to be together during the New Year, such a happy occasion, why cry?
"Not bad, you look like a grown man!" Qi Taiguo nodded slightly upon seeing his younger brother.
Qi Jianguo gave a shy and silly smile.
Then he looked at his younger sister, Qi Fengping, who said to him, "Don’t say those things, I find it annoying to hear."
"Cheeky girl!" Qi Taiguo teased with a smile, feeling immensely relieved that everyone at home was well. There was nothing to worry about, and since his siblings were studying, they wouldn’t turn out too bad in the future; he could go help with Aid Africa without concern.
It’s just...
He shook his head and saw Cheng Su coming out of the room holding a yawning Qi Xiaoqi. The soft little bundle made his heart melt.
"Daddy’s home!" Cheng Su lifted Qi Xiaoqi slightly.
Qi Xiaoqi looked over, the dark-skinned man already walking over to him, reaching out his hand. So dark!
"Son!" Qi Taiguo extended his hand.
Qi Xiaoqi hesitated for a moment before reaching out. After all, it was his real father; he couldn’t embarrass him too much and called out "Daddy" again.
Qi Taiguo was very satisfied, looking his son in the eye, thinking about Cheng Su’s words, feeling peculiar inside.
Were you really born with memories?
Qi Xiaoqi also looked at him, his big eyes blinking, with an expression like "what are you going to do?"
Besides Cheng Su, no one noticed the undercurrent between father and son. Qi Fengping remarked, "They don’t feel estranged at all!"
Mother Qi said teasingly, "It’s father and son nature, what’s estranged? They’re close as father and son!"
Father Qi agreed with this sentiment, seeing the entire family gathered, thinking this New Year’s was truly joyous.
It was already noon, and the family had prepared a meal, gathering around to eat simply; mostly, it was more talking.
Upon learning Qi Taiguo’s leave only lasted until the seventh day of the New Year, the most disappointed was Cheng Su; it was too short.
But even a few short days was a rare grace from the army; at least they had a few days to reunite and be close together.
"Should we go to the flower market as a family?" Qi Jianguo eagerly suggested, imagining the bustling flower market, wanting to enjoy the excitement with the family.
He had already described to the family what the flower market was like, and Qi Fengping was also somewhat yearning; it’s different from the village, seeing everything during her first New Year in a big city. Though she was studying in Hucheng and had already seen a lot, customs and sentiments differ everywhere.
Cheng Su glanced at the time, it was almost 2 PM and said, "We still have to prepare the New Year’s Eve dinner today. The flower market looks better in the evening with lights, how about we go out together after dinner?"
"That sounds good."
"Little aunt, will you help me today?" Cheng Su called out to her sister-in-law.
Cooking a family’s New Year’s Eve dinner by herself would be too much work; since her sister-in-law was there, of course, she’d use her help, unlike others who take all the work upon themselves.
Qi Fengping didn’t refuse, she directly agreed, "Should we go buy groceries now then?"
"I’ll go with your sister-in-law. There are many things, afraid it’s too heavy for you women to carry!" Qi Taiguo immediately said, glancing at Cheng Su with tender eyes.
Qi Fengping and Qi Jianguo snickered upon hearing this, knowing their elder brother had ulterior motives not focused on the shopping.
Mother Qi frowned, wondering why a grown man should buy groceries, plus he just got back; wouldn’t it be better for him to rest? They also had a lot to talk about with him! Just as she was about to speak to let him stay, Father Qi gently tugged her sleeve and shook his head, not letting her spoil the moment.
