Chapter 4009 - Weak Link

Everyone had their own methods, so some shot ahead while others backed away. For instance, the ashura, Dugu Yao, and Yu Hui of the Sundown Pantheon released their warbeasts and lifebound beasts before disappearing from the battlefield altogether. The wonderian sisters, like Moran, didn't need to be at the frontlines of battle. They were far more effective behind the vanguard, which was composed of the deva, Jin Mo, and Man Yueling of the Virtue Pantheon, both specters. Following right behind them were Yushen Gui, a primalwinger of the Sin Pantheon, and the totemancer of the Starfall Pantheon, Shao Xingru.

Their formation, to describe it crudely, was two, two, one, two, whereas Tianming's was just a single line. He was sandwiched between Zi Zhen and Moran. Even though Dugu Yao and Yu Hui were at the very back of the formation, the souleater starbeasts and doomsday forbidden beast flanked the vanguard. Tianming immediately felt like they were more like an entire army than a motley group of seven!

Dugu Yao had forty souleater starbeasts in total, with twenty other warbeasts of different types, though they were soulbeasts all the same. Even though warbeasts only had beastsouls, they were still able to use soul attacks just fine. Sixth, even in its past life, didn't have a tripartite soul either but was a soul-type Primordial Chaos Beast all the same.

Soulbeasts are impressive, but the ones who benefited the most from my recent breakthrough are Bai Ye and Bai Ling!

Zi Zhen clashed with the two specters in front. Jin Mo had turned into a golden specter with three heads and six arms and looked somewhat like a flameyellow fiend, albeit much uglier. His sixfold hell-ring summoned a goldtongue ghoul, powerful and armed with a lance-like tongue. In comparison, Man Yueling looked much better, despite being covered in beastface tattoos. The two specters managed to push Zi Zhen to the ground in their first clash.

"Is that all you’ve got?" Ji Mo smirked.

The next moment, Zi Zhen looked up and opened two more ninehall eyes, making six in total. The color of blood spread across her body as audible snaps cracked in the air around her. The hellfiend continued expanding even more. She rose all of a sudden with a powerful roar, a stark contrast compared to the tiny girl that Tianming remembered her as.

It was the specters' turn to be sent smashing into the ground, turned into a bloody mush! All the spectators shook at the sight, especially the three specter worlds among the Ten Desolate Starforges, including the Ninefold Hellstar.

"That fifth-level cosmic god specter just pushed back two sixth-level cosmic gods from the top twenty of the ranking! Is her bloodline comparable to an imperial lineage?"

The chaos of the battle continued throughout the discussions. Moran and Zi Zhen were dutifully doing their parts, giving Tianming a perfect opportunity. Using Thousandway Blitzrun, he had absolute speed and could shake off pursuers or charge through enemy ranks alike! He could definitely play the role of an assassin in a party.

Naturally, he had to make sure he had an escape route after charging into enemy ranks, which was Moran's role. Just as he locked on to Dugu Yao and Yu Hui, the wonderian sisters and Shao Xingru glared at Moran. The primalwinger, totemancer, souleater starbeasts, and doomsday forbidden beast charged toward her. She was facing even more of a threat than Tianming! The first wave of soul attacks came from the souleater starbeasts, forty sphere-like creatures that formed a black wave that slammed into her.

"Ughh!" She was enveloped in a soulstorm, a hallmark signature move of the ashuras!

"Even if she doesn't die, she'll be crippled!" Dugu Yao smirked, only to see the girl emerge completely unharmed and shaking her head. There was no way that the five hundred layers of divine wonders that protected her brain could be shattered so easily! She was essentially a human fortress.

"Does she have other divine wonders protecting her from inside?" Yushen Gui and Shao Xingru immediately noticed the issue. The three of them didn't stay put and immediately charged Moran from three directions. The doomsday forbidden beast had sixty-eight beastface tattoos, making it the most powerful combat unit on the battlefield. Especially when supported by Yu Hui, who used his whip from far away to wrap around Moran.

From the left, the 68-primal Yushen Gui unleashed a pair of bloody wings before rising into the sky. The bloodsoaked mayfly wings dyed the sky red. And from the right came Shao Xingru and her ten totems, one of them being a vital origin totem that enhanced her own body. Her heavenly being totems were called divine kingdom maidens. Each of them carried a sphere-shaped shield.

All seven of the ranked geniuses had managed quite a powerful reaction despite having been taken by surprise.

Moran and Zi Zhen had drawn most of the enemies away from Tianming. He told Zi Zhen, "Help her!"

"I was going to!" Zi Zhen felt even angrier at seeing how Tianming only cared about Moran. Her seventh ninehall eye opened, giving her the boost to smash her way past Jin Mo and Man Yueling. She took on the doomsday forbidden beast before it could reach Moran and slammed it to the ground. spraying flames and blood everywhere.

Moran pulled back her two divine wonders and focused their powers on the opponents near her. Being attacked by five people at once was quite overwhelming, but even with the souleater starbeasts' soulstorm, the enemies were unable to take out Moran and Zi Zhen.

"These two aren't afraid of soul attacks!" Dugu Yao yelled when he finally noticed it. In other words, their plan to cut off Tianming's support had failed! The girls were far tougher than they had expected.

"Eh?" Dugu Yao looked up and saw a masked figure appear in front of him in a flash of lightning. "Do you think I'm the weak link?" He smirked and raised both his hands, his fiendsky eyes shooting out two black beams of death.

Tianming immediately slashed with the Grand-Orient Sword, coated in Bai Ling's terra sword ki that had come straight out of its new middlekin astrons! Opening Stance, Heaven-Rending Star Diagram!

Purple starlight flashed as the sword fell, while Dugu Yao's death beams had no effect on Tianming at all. It was the worst possible matchup!

"Eh?" Dugu Yao was only stunned for a moment before the Grand-Orient Sword bisected his head.

"Sorry, you were the weak link after all!" Tianming pulled his sword out and Dugu Yao lifelessly collapsed to the ground, not even turning into a cosmic god essence.
