Chapter 638: The Meeting of Wives
Chapter 638: The Meeting of Wives
Nikolai leaned over the palace bannister, his eyes fixed on two shadow guards escorting Verda back to their headquarters. He planned to return and find lodging, but Vladik insisted he stay in this palace for the next few days.
’There’s going to be an official meeting of the clans in a few days.’
"Haa..."
He leaned forward, taking the time to examine the surroundings. The detached palace remained removed from the general public, and because of their plan, most of the guards and special staff left the night before.
Due to Zara’s "death."
Nikolai would be treated as her grieving spouse and given seven days to remain as per the Al’Qutar laws for engaged and married couples.
’It feels strange, being forced to wait here alone.’
Shaking his head, he couldn’t help but glance at their fading backs one last time.

Meanwhile, passing through the busy merchant district, Zara clutched her facemask while peeking back at the palace behind her every so often.
"What’s wrong, can’t forget him?"
Verda’s gruff voice shocked her, as she almost jumped out of her skin.
’Damn it!’
"Tsk, Aunt Verda.. you scared the life out of me." Zara threw her elbows at the mature warrior, but she easily slipped away, bouncing on her tiptoes, while avoiding both Zara and the passing merchants.
"Buy your spices~ low price and guaranteed quality!"
Unlike Zara, Clara peeked at the stores while clutching her purse.
When she came to Al’Qutar, Nikolai gave her a stipend of his income. An amount he gave to all his wives and children, though the children’s money went into a high-interest savings account for the future.
The amount could probably buy everything in the merchant district, due to the high value of Earth’s currencies.
’Oh, does she want to buy something?’
Zara broke free of Verda’s teasing, her face dark red as she saw the small fairy glancing at the various food stalls. "Clara? Do you want to eat?"
"Mm?"
The fairy turned to face Zara, her petite frame and pretty, oval face with large black eyes caused her chest to flutter. ’Damn, Zara, she’s a girl! You have Nikolai.’ But the fairy shook her head and then pointed to the pale golden spice.
"Nikolai doesn’t like spice, but he seemed to love that curry."
’Eh? She’s thinking of Nikolai, how cute~’
Zara wasn’t alone in feeling this way about Clara; most of the women lowered their guards and didn’t sense danger. It might be a side effect of her scent, spores and blood, but the biggest factor was her delicate beauty.
"You came to the markets of Al’Qutar and only thought of Nikolai?" Zara’s heart long since became smitten with Nikolai, but she also had her own lights and habits, and seeing someone so dedicated shocked her.
"Mm, he’s done so much for my brother and me..."
"Hmmm?"
Verda smiled and put her hands behind her head, and didn’t interrupt them. She walked a metre ahead with her guard up, peeking at the two girls speaking together. "It seems she’ll finally have a friend, heh! But to think they slept with the same man. How shameless. I will beat him up next time we meet!"
Meanwhile, Zara began teaching Clara about the different spices, vegetables and meats, what tastes or flavours suited them best. The two women ended up walking around the market several times before the appointed meeting time arrived.
"So, this blue spice is sweet, but when you use the spiced meat from the old lady with the blue skin, it becomes a mild and delicious curry?"
"Yes, this is the curry I used to love in the past, my mother also hated spice... and so we ate this one a lot. It’s called Karuma."
A group of tall, non-djinn women in bodysuits and vibrant blonde, brown and black hair approached Clara and Zara.
"Oh? Is it that time already? What a shame." Zara noticed them first and handed the money to Clara with a smile. "Since we’re both leaving together for the next few days, I hope we can get to know each other, Clara."
The mature transformation of Zara after she lost her virginity created an aura that didn’t exist in the past. Although she carried the elegant nature of someone brought up in a good environment, Zara lacked confidence and conviction in herself.
"Sister Zara, I’d really like that!"
However, now she didn’t have that problem.
’Hehe, I made a friend.’
Even though their first meeting was abysmal and after fighting each other, their relationship came to a close while sleeping together with Nikolai the night before.
Because of how intense her first time was, her parts became swollen, so the trio just cuddled and slept. ’Though I thought she’d insist on doing it again...’ Who would have thought that Clara whispered the same thing in the baths.
That she was still swollen after an entire day!
The blonde woman leading the group stood with a focused gaze. She observed Verda, Clara and then Zara before taking a breath. "I am Sarah, here to take over Nikolai’s guard, and to escort the target to safety."
Verda didn’t back away at first, instead sizing up the woman. Sarah’s beauty wasn’t world-stopping, but her figure could destroy a man’s reason.
"What about those women? How can I trust them?"
"Each one of them is completely dedicated to Nikolai, our master. As his thralls, they will never betray his orders or cause damage to the women he cares for."
"Heh! That Playboy has all these women around him, my poor little Zara." Verda’s lips twisted into a frown, but she shook her head, holding back. "Well, what’s the plan from here? From what you said, it seems you’re planning to remain here."
She stepped towards Sarah, her height a little taller than the short hybrid.
"Under whose permission?"
Verda snorted with an aggressive posture, flexing her tight abdominal muscles.
Suddenly, a fragrant air blew with the aroma of plums, orchids and vanilla.
"Mine."
The new voice carried an ethereal tone, her skin fair and glossy, hair pure white, with a fluffy white tail behind her back as she glared at Verda with her unfaltering silver eyes.
"W-Who are you?!"
Zara watched quietly, her brows twitching when she heard the shock in her aunt’s voice, ’Amazing, she surprised my aunt, who prides herself on her perception...’ She’d met this beautiful woman before, a perfect hybrid who almost died in the past. ’She’s the cause of Nikolai’s suffering, yet he loves and adores her.’
"I’m Nikolai’s wife, Lunaria and in charge of support and logistics."
Unlike Sarah, who carried a submissive atmosphere, Lunaria pushed Verda back while maintaining a firm stance. She peeked at Zara, and Clara then pulled out her tongue with a wink.
"It’s great to see you’ve become his wife, too."
"Eh?!"
’How did she know?!’
Zara’s heart sped up, pounding against her chest as she faced the pure beauty wearing a kimono even in the sweltering heat of Al’Qutar.
Lunaria tilted her head and curled her lips, "I can see you’re confused how I noticed... Well, you see, it’s two things that give it away."
"W-What?!"
Zara’s voice stuttered as she blushed.
To face Nikolai’s wives was normal before, but after she truly started falling for him, she realised just how difficult it might be to become his number one. That’s why she hoped to maintain her confident standing.
"Fufu, don’t worry. We don’t fight, you should know that. The others will be happy that you’ve finally joined us. Sasha also missed you."
Lunaria came closer and hugged Zara gently, the soothing scent of her body filling the Djinn’s nose as she panicked.
That’s when Lunaria whispered.
"Your walking posture is still a little off, and the ability we all gained from sleeping with Nikolai was to see or smell the auras lingering on other people. I can see your body is practically drowning in his scent, fufu."
’How can she be so forward?!’
Zara pulled away, gawping at Lunaria, who immediately changed gears as she stroked Clara’s hair and turned back to Verda.
"Since we’re here to protect this girl, hurry and don’t waste time. The Nexus has several people guarding it, so you’ll need to be quick and avoid making a scene."
"Do we have any help?" Verda asked, her expression becoming stern.
"There will be a dozen werewolves waiting, I’m sure you’ll notice them as they’re all in maid outfits and look similar."
"Will she truly be safe in that place?"
’Aunt Verda... you’re too protective, but thank you.’
Lunaria’s eyes softened the longer she spoke to Verda, quickly smiling at the older woman. "Forgive me for being so brash earlier. I didn’t know how close you were to our newest sister and took a guard." Then offered her hand to the proud Djinn.
"A-Ah..."
’Wow, Aunt Verda is embarrassed?!’
Zara enjoyed this sight, but couldn’t keep watching as Clara yanked at her robes, pulling her to the group of pretty, western beauties.
’Are they really all Nikolai’s thralls?’ She held her breath upon seeing so many pristine and beautiful women all standing silently. Not a single noise or word disturbed their smart outfits and posture.
"Lady Zara, we must depart." A short thrall with a bob haircut stepped forward and lowered her waist before offering a new cloak that matched theirs. On the back of the cloak was a large emblem, with a silver border and a white wolf howling at the moon in the centre.
"I-Is it time?"
The girl nodded, watching in silence.
"Understood, please guide me."
"Yes, Lady."
The thralls used to work in the stock exchange and business department of Sarah’s company. After she spoke of her feelings to them, half of them accepted the role of continuing the company. She took the other half as combat personnel who would protect Nikolai and his family in secret.
Lunaria glanced at Sarah, then nodded at Zara, who worriedly glanced her way.
"My new sister, please be safe."
"Y-Yesh Sister Lunaria!"
"Fufu, a cute little sister has been added again." Luna watched Zara leave the ground, then turned to Clara and widened her eyes. "Clara, are you going with her?"
The petite little fairy nodded.
"She’s the first friend I made alone, so... I will go with her."
"Understood, make sure to tell the others when you get home, okay?"
"Mm."
Then, with a nod, Verda, Lunaria and Sarah watched as most of the group left with Zara. Clara trailed behind them, still peeking at the market stalls with her curious eyes.
After they left, Verda punched her palms with all three arms and grinned.
"Well, now, shall we get down to the real business?"
"Of course, guide us to my husband."
"Tch... creepy woman."
"Thank you for the compliment." Lunaria hummed, ignoring Verda’s complaints.
