Chapter 687: All-Out Attack?! - I
Chapter 687: All-Out Attack?! - I
Though the proposal created a stir in his loins, Nikolai couldn’t help but want to slap her perky, fat ass.
Nikolai leaned against the cold wall with several holes littered across the surface whilst holding his gun with both hands and loosely stroking the trigger guard.
He glanced over to Nikita, who dashed after him.
Instead, he shook his head and dismissed her playful tease with a rough snort.
"Quit playing around, and call Leon—Brunhilde."
’No, I shouldn’t bother her after she retired, there’s no Kumiko, Rika, Miyu or Reina either.’
The pretty werewolf glanced at him with her usual cute expression. "Eh? Why aren’t we calling Leona? What if the main mansion is under attack?!" Nikita snapped back while squatting against the opposite wall.
"That’s exactly why you should call Brunhilde, she’s the new leader and in charge of our protection, quickly call her and explain our situation."
"W-Why don’t you?!"
His answer came with a low pop, smoke leaking from the Desert Eagle’s tip.
The bullet zipped through the approaching zombie’s throat.
After flailing his arms for a moment, the man crumpled as if his legs had become jelly, collapsing to the floor like a bag of tofu.
"Because I’m the better shot! Hurry, stop wasting time, and I’ll think about your offer."
"Hmmmph!"
Nikita snorted as she pulled her phone from between her cleavage, the slight flicker of her engagement ring destroying her facade.
’This girl just keeps trying to seduce me...’
He found it quite amusing that even during a shootout, she took the time to pretend her phone was between her breasts rather than stored in her item ring.
’Focus.’
He narrowed his eyes, watching the hallway from the gap in the wall beside Nikita’s head, the dull thump of their movements spreading through the restaurant as they clearly came here for one purpose.
To hunt them.
’When did they start following, though?’
Meanwhile, Nikita spoke on the phone with a lively voice.
"Yaho Hilde~ It seems we’re in quite a situation right now. How are things at the mansion?"
The way she didn’t treat the situation seriously was both a positive part of Nikita’s charm and the big reason Nikolai worried about bringing her into the fight against Alucard.
She didn’t seem to find anything other than playing with their children, and fornication was serious since giving birth. Her mind used to find pleasure in hunting those who stole money from her clan, but now she rarely even patrolled.
’It’s not that I don’t mind...’
Of course, what man wouldn’t be happier with his wife staying safe?
However, monsters couldn’t just live such contained, safe lives—there were rivals, enemies and infighting, no matter how big the clan.
"W-What?!" Her voice suddenly twisted.
The noise echoed, bouncing off the walls and likely giving away their position.
"Shit..."
All of a sudden, the dozen or so zombies rushed towards their location with the shuffle of footsteps and the clang of steel.
’At least sixteen.’
He slowly drew a deep breath, holding it in his chest for a moment, before exhaling.
When he exhaled, he pushed obsidian blood through every muscle, flooding his limbs’ fibres to enhance his movement speed.
Nikita’s voice came from beside him as he slipped his head slightly out of the doorframe.
"Honey, the mansion is under attack, they won’t be able to send any backup... Hilde promised to try, but it looks like we’re alone!"
His eyes flicked back to his wife, knowing she was probably worried sick about their children. To force her to drop her playful tone, switching to her raspy and rough tone, normally only used for cursing or speaking in R-Dialect.
"Calm yourself, the kids are safe with our parents." The footsteps came closer, less than ten seconds before they faced the enemy’s assault. "You know that my father and yours, for that matter, would die a thousand times over before letting harm come to them."
He didn’t know why he felt no stress or fear.
His chest rose and fell normally, with deep, refreshing breaths.
"Can you do that for me?" He asked at the same moment three zombies peeked from the small corridor.
"I can—!"
Deng!
Deng!
Deng!
Nikolai’s gun sang several times, the flash from the chamber and mass of smoke billowing to almost mask his fierce expression. His beloved wife squatted while watching his face with a strangely entranced expression.
Deng!
Deng!
Deng!
"Shit!" He cursed in R-Dialect.
The first few zombies fell as cans shot off a fence, his aim almost hauntingly accurate, but after they adjusted to his sudden burst. They pulled back behind the walls, on either side of the corridor, leaving roughly five meters between themselves and Nikolai.
Da-Da-Da!
Da-Da-Da!
He slammed back through the door, as a burst of rifle shots lanced through the air, almost tearing through his cheek, as three deep wounds leaked blood down his chin.
"Nikolai!" Nikita threw herself against his chest, before fumbling the small first aid kit in her hand, "You have to treat the wounds... It’s melting!" In a panic, she tore open the military-grade antiseptic and alcohol soaked wipes.
"Hold still!" She scolded.
Nikolai couldn’t focus on her actions; his eyes remained locked on the movements of the five or so enemies, all waiting.
He snapped the magazine free, with only a single shot it was all but useless.
’I have a dozen more inside my item ring, but Nikita seems to lack a ranged weapon... why didn’t she listen to me about her damn aesthetic!?’
Her cloth brushed against the deep fissures across his cheek, which almost resembled a claw mark that tore across his face. His fangs ground together with a low crunch as he endured the acidic burn of the wipes that disinfected the silver chemical.
Nikita mumbled to herself.
"J-Just a little more, okay?! God... what did they do to your handsome face... but, now you’re fierce...."
’Is she nervous?’
Nikolai removed the spare Dessert Eagle from his item ring, quickly snapping fresh magazines into both guns, before leaning out of the doorway.
Deng!
His shot tore through the stone wall, leaving a larger crater.
"You fucking dogs!" A shout came from behind, as a chunk of flesh and blood spewed out from the wall.
"Hahaha! Fuck you, zombie bastards!"
"Get him, you useless corpses! The boss wants the man alive, but the bitch... hehehe, how about we enjoy her killing her slowly?"
’Fucking creeps!’
He pulled back inside the room, handing Nikita his other gun.
"Take it, you know how to use it, right?"
Her eyes hesitantly shifted between his hand and face, before she frowned, her lips pushed out as she complained. "Of course, you forced us to take self-defence and shooting classes each morning for the past six months!" She snatched the gun, quickly checked it, and demonstrated her skill.
"Good, then... You heard them."
"I did, the filthy cunts dare speak about me like that!"
"Y-Yeah..."
He wanted to point out that he wasn’t in danger of dying, but she was. Nevertheless, the part of torturing her caused both of their blood to boil. So even Nikolai didn’t intend to force her to follow his previous thoughts.
"We have to kill them and find a way home."
"Fuck! Tonight I was going to get laid!" Nikita screeched.
She rushed to the door, leaning out, before a loud series of pops echoed with the dull grunt of zombies from the other side. Unlike Nikolai’s carefully aimed and calm shots, she let loose like a demon, doubling the crater his last bullet made in the wall.
Deng! Deng! Deng! Deng!
She unloaded an entire magazine in less than three seconds.
The low thud of three bodies hitting the floor reverberated inside Nikolai’s ears along with the deafening hum of bells.
His eyes widened upon hearing the low thud of military boots and the sound of a heavier, more substantial gun.
’Nikita!’
He moved before his mouth could call out.
Nikolai leapt from the door and grabbed Nikita’s shoulders.
In the corner of his eyes, two machine guns raised, pointing their deadly muzzles towards the pair. His stomach churned and twisted his guts as they faced certain death, before he quickly yanked Nikita back into the room as the howl of bullets followed.
Ra-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta!
Dozens.
Maybe close to a hundred bullets lanced through the air.
Nikolai slouched forward, the wall that used to keep them safe now like Swiss cheese, as his back stung with searing heat. He tried to keep his face straight, biting the tip of his tongue as the mind-numbing pain shot through his spine, to his shoulders and chest.
’I cannot let her see.... cannot let her know...’
He panted, his breathing a little laboured as she glanced up within his arms.
Their lips almost touched as she visibly shook.
"Honey... you saved me."
"Of course I did, you’re my wife!"
She clung to his chest, both of them able to hear the hesitation of the zombies, slowly unloading their spent magazines and preparing to rush.
"Don’t worry, we can escape. Are you ready?"
Her fluffy ears fluttered while leaning against his muscular chest, her breath short and sharp as Nikita tried to adjust herself.
"Mhm..."
"W-What are you scared?"
"M-Me?! How..."
He knew she was from how fluffed up her tail was and the intense quivering of her body.
Nikolai didn’t have a magical way to make her feel good or make everything go away, so he lifted her chin and stared into her eyes.
"Hey, if we make it through this... let’s find a hotel so I can enjoy that ass of yours."
Her cheeks instantly turned deep red, different from the nervous pink... like a full-on tomato as she slapped his chest.
"Idiot... stupid.... maybe..."
"Hm?"
"I said... If we make it through, then maybe!"
"Okay, then take this, and here are the spare magazines. Keep them in your item ring, and use them to reload them when needed."
He handed her his gun, then poured the eight magazines onto the floor.
"W-What’s this for?!"
His lips curved as he placed them gently against her forehead.
"Of course, let your husband show just how powerful he is, haha."
Nikolai turned away while unfastening his tie, tossing off his jacket and vest, leaving his upper body exposed.
"Ah!"
As she watched his back with a hopeless expression, he transformed.
"It’s about time we struck back, with an all-out attack."
