Chapter 3172: Macro Samsara Array Formation

“Are you finally awake?” I asked the Scarred Truevil, who was no longer fanatically chasing me but seemed to be dealing with a huge hangover. The hold of the remnant primordial bloodline over her finally diminished when I killed her for the ten thousandth time. The area within the array grew by a significant amount as the Ouroboros expanded with each kill.
“Screech!” She screamed at me as if saying, ‘Shut up, you are being loud.’ And then decisively killed herself and to my surprise she miraculously recovered from the hangover.
I noticed that there seemed to be a huge difference between the Scarred Truevil’s body being replaced by the array every time I killed her and her committing suicide.
Being killed and coming back alive seemed to take a considerable mental toll on the Scarred Truevil, but committing suicide and coming back alive not only didn’t take a mental toll on her, but it seemed to return her to peak condition.
With this, I was certain that she was indeed committing suicide every time she sensed me sowing my Calamity Daughter Gem in her body. This made her retaining her mentality after so many deaths less impressive. However, it was genuinely impressive that she derived such a natural array formation taking inspiration from the River of Reincarnation.
Macro Samsara Array Formation, that was what the array formation she had summoned was called.
Yes, Hive Spirit and I have finally finished deducing the entirety of the natural array formation set up by the Scarred Truevil.
As long as the Scarred Truevil was within this array formation, she couldn’t be killed, but there was a serious catch. She would have to kill all the enemies she had trapped in the array formation. Even if one of them escaped, she would die. Considering her race, I wasn’t surprised by the cruel condition.
And yes, she was able to command the undead corpse of herself standing on the Ouroboros. But that, too, came with a condition: there should be more than one enemy trapped in the array formation or the boundary of the array formation had to be attacked by the enemy.
Fortunately for me, since I was alone, she wasn’t able to mobilize her undead army against me, even when she had lost her sanity to the remnant primordial bloodline in her body. Otherwise, this array might have become my graveyard, operating on the false theory that killing the Scarred Truevil would end the array and throw me out.
When actually, the Scarred Truevil was simply unkillable in the array, and the only way for me to leave the array was to destroy the Ouroboros.
Yes, attempting that would mobilize the undead army, but there was an exit there. It wasn’t an absolute dead end. As long as I destroyed the boundary, not only would I be out of the array, but the Scarred Truevil would have died.
Now, this condition that if I were to escape the array, the Scarred Truevil would be killed by her own array put a massive dent in my plan to turn her into my Bloodkin. But I decided not to think about it for now and instead focus on turning her into my Bloodkin. Maybe because we would be considered allies then, the condition of the array simply wouldn’t apply to us.
“Screech!”
The Scarred Truevil’s cry awakened me from my thoughts. She didn’t try to attack me this time. Instead, she seemed to be trying to communicate with me.
I had long ago asked Hive Spirit to use the memories of the three Truevils I turned into my Calamity Gems to derive their language. It was taking a while because despite their long history, their language was basic and crude. It seemed to make use of body language for many of the basic words.
Still, Hive Spirit delivered in time.
“Screeh—what did you do to me earlier?”
I finally understood what the Scarred Truevil was trying to say.
With the help of Hive Spirit, I positioned my body and opened my beak. I flawlessly let out a screech, answering her, “I didn’t do anything to you. It was your—screech!”
Yep, there wasn’t any word for bloodline in their language, not just bloodline but most of the intermediate and advanced words too. Their vocabulary was too small.
“What?”
Shaking my head, I conjured a Calamity Daughter Gem and threw it at her. She immediately dodged, yelling, “Answer me, I will kill you later.”
“Take it, it will help you become strong like me!” I blatantly lied, wondering if the most basic of scams would work on them.
“Is that why slaves dare to attack me?” Scarred Truevil asked, looking at the new Calamity Daughter Gem I had just conjured.
“Yes, they become strong taking this, think they can beat you. But you strong. If you take this, you become stronger… than me,” I lied through my teeth, chucking another Calamity Daughter Gem at her again.
This time, she didn’t dodge but caught it. Seeing this, I was reminded of a movie about the guy with a suspicious van with a mattress in the back and offering the slum kids candy.
“This… make me strong?” the Scarred Truevil asked, holding out its lower right arm.
“Yes,” I nodded vigorously, adding, “Swallow it, don’t resist.”
“Make you strong. Much, much strong.”
I didn’t give the Scarred Truevil the time to think, just kept asking her to eat the Calamity Daughter Gem and not to resist it. I even made the gem release the fragrance of the World Calamity Tree, making it impossible for her not to be tempted to eat it.
The Scarred Truevil sniffed it repeatedly, even bringing it close to her beak and licking it, but she didn’t eat it. She was still hesitant, so I conjured a lot of Calamity Daughter Gems and swallowed some of them myself, showing her it was safe to eat it.
As I watched the Scarred Truevil slowly swallowed the gem and was once again reminded of the greasy man with a bald crown and pot belly in a dirty white tank top, patiently watching the kid step into the back of his van for the bucket of candies.
That was one fucked-up movie. I tried so hard to forget it, but it keeps giving attendance at the worst possible moment like a clock work. In my annoyance, I had Hive Spirit seal that memory.
