As the prompts sounded in my head one by one, I looked at the Scarred Truevil, my latest Bloodkin, morphing into her Primordial Form.

She no longer stood stooped on her knuckles and feet. Also, her body was subtly augmented to ensure an efficient bipedal stride, like her upper arms got shorter. Her flat shell became less convex, straightening her spine. She now looked more like a humanoid turtle with four arms. And unsurprisingly the deep scar on her chest healed. But that seemed to have sent her into distress. She kept rubbing and dusting her chest as her proud scar was hidden behind a layer of dust.

It made me wonder if despite all the skills and changes her IQ was still the same. Shaking my head, I tried to console her, “You can always use your reconstruction skill to etch a similar scar on your chest.”

“No, that’s not the same, Master,” Scarred Truevil said, while continuing to paw at her chest as if she was feeling phantom pain from losing the now-healed deep chest scar. It seemed to hold huge significance to her.

Hive Spirit might have allowed her to talk with me in a civilized tongue, but she was still a Truevil through and through.

According to her memories, that scar symbolized the greatest fight of her life. And it was a great fight. In her long lifespan on this cruel planet, her invulnerable body gained only one such scar; it was evidence of that.

Every Truevil got scars, but their body healed them in a few breaths or a day. But to get a scar that their body couldn’t heal was the greatest honor among the Truevils. It told a story, a great story about their great battle.

Letting out a long sigh, I remarked, “It only means that you have grown stronger. I promise much greater battles await you in the future.”

Scarred Truevil nodded as if she understood, but then her hand never left the spot on her chest where the scar used to be. Knowing she still couldn’t let go, I said, “I can’t help you get that scar back. But in honor of that scar, I will name you Scar.”

The Scarred Truevil looked at me in a mix of astonishment and gratefulness. Thanks to the information she gained from Hive Spirit, the concept of a name was no longer alien to her. So, she understood the significance of having a name and finally let go of her chest, muttering, “Scar. I’m Scar.”

“Yes, you are Scar Wyatt, the Bloodkin of Dalton Wyatt.”

Knowing that Dalia would love it if I accepted Scar as one of our siblings, I went ahead and gave her my surname. Among my Bloodkins, only two held my surname, and they were both Celestials: Dalia and Ceed. And now, Scar.

“Scar Wyatt, Bloodkin of Dalton Wyatt.”

“Scar Wyatt, Bloodkin of Dalton Wyatt.”

Scar muttered it again and again. Each time she repeated it, her voice got louder and louder until it echoed in the array formation.

Which brought me to a new issue at hand. As I was expecting, the array didn’t acknowledge me as Scar’s ally. If it had, it would have long dissolved. But it also didn’t seem to consider Scar defeated. I guess as long as I didn’t leave the array and she was still breathing, it meant she wasn’t defeated.

Realizing this, I was no longer worried about getting out of here, but another grave problem gripped my heart.

It made me wonder if Scar were to die now, and whether the new Scar to be born from the Macro Samsara Array Formation would be my Bloodkin or not.

Now that was my biggest concern. I made it my priority to solve that first. Because what if I brought her with me and she were to die fighting an enemy in the array and were to return to her original self and not as my Bloodkin?

That was a crazy scenario, but based on what I was seeing, it was entirely possible.

Instead of panicking myself, I directly asked Scar if that was possible. And to my absolute dread, she nodded in confirmation.

However, the answer was more nuanced than a simple yes.

If she were to die now, she would actually be reborn as her original self and not as my Bloodkin.

However, if she were to somehow manage to leave this array as my Bloodkin and set up another Macro Samsara Array Formation, then even if she were to die in it, she would come out as my Bloodkin and not as her original self.

Because the array acted as a save point, it saved the version of Scar that set up and activated the new Macro Samsara array formation. Otherwise, every time she was killed in the array, she would return to the body which she had when she first comprehended and set up the Macro Samsara Array Formation. If that were the case then she would never grow and remain the same in terms of age and strength. Fortunately it wasn’t.

Learning the answer, I sighed in relief because no matter how dumb Scar was, I didn’t think she would fall for the same trick twice. Now all I had to do was figure out a way to get Scar out of here as my Bloodkin.

I looked at the Macro Samsara Array Formation, brainstorming with Hive Spirit and Scar on how we could get out of here without either of us dying.

But before we could reach that answer, the starry night sky of the array tore open, and massive white roots began to descend into the array like snakes. For a moment, the world seemed to go still before the array formation crumbled, throwing the two of us back to the Shell Island while the white roots seemed to be descending from the shell above.
