Chapter 1039: Family Meal-3 [GT Ranking Bonus Chapter]
Her eyes shifted to Malrik as she wondered how her brother had set up his own Outpost so fast. After thinking about it for a few seconds, she sighed and gave up, as this matter belonged to the future and not the present. For now, she would enjoy the delicacies before her and cross that bridge when she got there.
Malrik, who had sensed the look Wuthenya had given him, simply spoke as he ate, "Don’t let Lazy Olivia influence you, it’s not as hard as she makes it sound. Just follow your heart, it’s as simple as that. Besides," his blue eyes left his plate and focused on her as he added, "we are all here to always support you."
Wuthenya simply nodded and said nothing else.
"If someone saw you advising your sister, they would think you listened to all the advice I gave you when you were little," Azaron stated with a shake of his head as he lifted a cup of alcohol.
Malrik’s lips curved upwards as he replied, "I listened. You are just complaining because I didn’t go to the Frontier you recommended to me when I left the Star Academy," his blue eyes meeting Azaron’s golden ones.
Azaron simply shrugged as he spoke, "And why would I care about that? You are a man. If you simply followed everything I said, I might have disowned you and banished you to some unknown village."
"You wish you could," Malrik replied with a small smile.
Everyone simply watched Azaron and Malrik go back and forth, but they weren’t surprised, as they had seen this scene many times when they were within the Thalvorn Empire. It was shocking at first, but they had become numb to it at this point.
Asher fell into his own thoughts as he considered which Frontier and Outpost to head to when he graduated. His mind shifted towards the second mission that he, William, and Finch had taken, the mission that led them to the Outpost that seemed to be stationed in a desert.
’I might have to head to the Outpost or Frontier first before heading to the Cursed or Blessed Lands,’ he thought to himself, reasoning that due to family tradition, he might be told to head to the Blessed Lands during his own free time, rather than the time he was supposed to spend at the Frontier.
’Maybe I would enter Big Brother Malrik’s Frontier,’ he thought and concluded the matter for now. When the time came, he would look at his options and make a choice after getting ideas and information about it all.
Xavian turned towards Thalric as he asked, "When you graduate, which Frontier do you plan to head to? After all, you are leaving the Star Academy next year, you should start planning now."
Thalric stayed silent for a moment, then replied, "I might join Uncle Damian’s Outpost. I will talk to him about it later on," his words calm.
Xavian and everyone nodded, but they didn’t say anything. They didn’t advise him against it; they only looked forward to it. After all, according to Malrik, Damian’s name at his own Frontier was "The Demon Overlord." He was famous for using his Calculator ability to reduce the physical strength, stamina, and speed of his soldiers while they trained.
Then, during any battle, the man would use his Calculator ability to increase the stats of their opponents, throwing the battle into chaos and almost leading to the deaths of his soldiers, the keyword here being "almost." And when his direct subordinates would confront him, as mere soldiers wouldn’t dare confront a man as strong as Damian, the man would simply say, "What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger."
They couldn’t help but look forward to Thalric’s suffering. They were already planning to visit him with fruit baskets whenever he landed in the hospital. After all, Damian didn’t casually allow healers to heal his soldiers completely. The only time he allowed complete healing was when they were in the midst of battle and he needed his soldiers at their peak form. Aside from that, the man believed naturally recovering from injuries made the body stronger and fostered increased adaptation to pain and suffering.
’Poor Thalric,’ Ezekiel thought to himself, sending his brother thoughts and prayers.
"I also plan to apply for early graduation," Thalric added as he ate.
He had been thinking about it this past week, and since in four days they would return to the Star Academy, he had made his decision. He didn’t have too much time to waste.
His words caused everyone to pause for a moment as they stared at him. They couldn’t help but think that Thalric was applying for early graduation because he couldn’t afford to remain at the Star Academy when his junior brother had graduated, while he, who entered the Star Academy first, remained a student.
"Early graduation?" Azaron, who had been listening to his children discuss, asked in confusion.
Ezekiel, who had been silent, explained, "Asher plans to apply for early graduation once he returns to the Star Academy," he stated, then explained Asher’s reasoning.
Azaron stayed silent for a moment, then nodded as he spoke, "No problem, but I won’t be helping either or both of you convince Cindralis. That isn’t my territory," he stated.
Asher and Thalric simply nodded, as they had already anticipated this and had even talked about it.
But if they didn’t possess the right combat prowess, Azaron would immediately shoot down their thoughts of early graduation, even though he was the hands-off kind of guy.
"I wonder if Cindralis would allow you two to take on the same test as a team or something," Wuthenya spoke thoughtfully, her green eyes shifting towards her two youngest siblings.
Asher and Thalric didn’t answer, as they too didn’t know. The discussion continued as everyone talked about what was going on in their own lives, but it was mainly about the Frontiers and Outposts, as that was where most of them spent the entire year.
As the hours passed and they spent their time talking as one family, Azaron’s golden eyes shifted towards Asher as he asked.
"So, youngest, it’s time to talk to us about your true Affinity and the white Energy you are using," his tone calm and measured as a smile appeared on his face.
The moment those words left Azaron’s mouth, all eyes turned towards Asher, their curiosity and interest peaking. After all, they had tried their best not to pester him with questions this past week, as they knew their Father would definitely ask, one way or another.
