Chapter 1038: Family Meal-2 [GT Ranking Bonus Chapter]
At Azaron’s words, nobody stood on ceremony as some moved for the nearest food to them and served themselves. It was practically a small-sized buffet of some sort. Nobody talked as they all served themselves.
"Pass the vegetables," Mary stated as her eyes shifted towards the broccoli that was in front of Xavian.
Xavienne shook her head as she replied, "You are the only person I know that eats vegetables of their own free will."
Xavian said nothing as he simply waved his hand and used Astra energy telekinesis to move the plate of broccoli towards Mary, who simply caught it and served herself, ignoring Xavienne as though she hadn’t said anything.
Asher too was moving. Anything he couldn’t reach, he simply opened a portal underneath it and teleported it towards himself. After serving himself, he returned it to its original position without having to move too much.
Asher wasn’t surprised that the Elders and Great Elders weren’t here. He could only guess that they might have something to do or never wanted to be here to begin with.
Nobody spoke for a while as everyone simply focused on their food. The only sound one could make out was that of cutlery dancing against the plates as they ate. Although the Wargraves were known as a family that didn’t exactly care about nobility and the like, as they didn’t walk around with a chip on their shoulders, they still possessed the etiquette that those of a higher class should possess.
After all, even if they were a family that loved battles, it didn’t change the fact that they were among the upper echelon of the planet.
Asher’s eyes shifted towards Azaron, who was eating as though he had been starving for ages, as the man cleared plate after plate while they piled up beside him. But the man didn’t slow down. Although he ate with the etiquette required of a Noble, it didn’t mean his speed was slow.
’If I eat the amount of food he is eating, I might never leave my bed for a week,’ Asher thought to himself as Azaron consumed food that ordinary people would eat in a week in one sitting.
’No wonder they served so much food. It was for him and Big Brother,’ Asher mused as his eyes turned towards Malrik, who was matching Azaron as though they were both competing.
But Asher understood a bit. The more one grew, in terms of biology and Life Rank, the more energy, nutrients, and food they required. After all, a teenager and a baby couldn’t eat the same quantity of food. And a teenager and a full-grown adult couldn’t eat the same amount of food either.
That same case could be applied to the Life Ranks. After all, as Crownstar Life Rankers, surely Azaron and Malrik’s appetites must be immense. The nutrients their bodies required before they even became full might just wipe out an entire kitchen. Within minutes, the food on the table was almost cleared.
But the maids and butlers served another round with flat expressions. Malrik and Azaron basically cleared the table no matter how many times these maids and butlers refilled it.
But they weren’t the only ones eating; everyone was. After all, as Life Rankers, their own appetites were multiple times that of an unawakened person.
As everyone approached their fill, they slowed down and started eating at an extremely slow pace.
"So, Olivia, since you are stationed at the same Frontier as Third Elder Willow, tell us how things have been going over there," Azaron asked as he placed a piece of steak in his mouth.
Olivia couldn’t help but sigh as she cut the fish on her plate and spoke, "When I chose to work under Aunty Willow, I thought she was going to give me some preferential treatment because she had always doted on me since I was a child, but alas... it was a trap all along. She had been planning it all these years," she stated with a shake of her head.
As the current last person to leave the Star Academy, she had already been sent to the Frontier line. But the Suns and Moons weren’t forced to go anywhere. They were all allowed to head wherever they wanted, even if someone wanted to go to one of the front lines managed by the Imperial Family.
The only thing they weren’t allowed to do was stay home and waste their potential. Even the Elders and Great Elders were hardly at the Wargrave Estate, as even they were away with their own military forces. Only Morthern stayed at the Wargrave Estate all year round.
"But I was made to share rooms with other recruits, even given minor chores to do every morning, and even made to join them to train under the harness of our station," Olivia complained. "I was thoroughly fooled by Aunty Willow. Too bad I can’t change to another Frontier," she shook her head as though exasperated by her own situation.
Thalric, who was silent and seated in between Asher and Olivia, spoke, "Just endure for a few more years. When you get to the Crownstar Life Rank, you can establish your own Frontier."
Upon getting to the Crownstar Life Rank, each Wargrave was allowed to establish their own Frontier or Outpost if they wanted.
"Yeah... I’d rather not," Olivia replied as she picked up a glass of juice, as she wasn’t really a wine or alcohol person.
Asher, who had been silent, couldn’t help but speak. "But you sound like you want to leave, and now you say you’d rather not."
Olivia sighed as she spoke, "My little brother, not everyone is a cheater like you. After all, your talent is practically cheating at this point," she began, her eyes turning towards him as she asked, "How long do you think it will take for me to get to the Crownstar Life Rank?" She asked rhetorically. "Well, that’s within a decade or two decades, so about twelve years or thereabouts. So, within twelve to fifteen years, what do you think my status would be within Aunty Willow’s Frontier?" She asked.
Asher fell into his thoughts as he seemed to understand where she was going with it.
"And when I’m the Legion Captain at the time, why would I want to waste my time and effort creating another Frontier from scratch when I’ve invested almost twenty years of my life into Aunty Willow’s Frontier?" She asked as though it was a no-brainer. "Besides, managing a Frontier is a huge chore. The paperwork is insane, the management required is ridiculous, and I’m not looking forward to wasting my time on things like that," she stated as though she had thought every plan in her life out.
Wuthenya, who was at the end of the table, fell into her thoughts. As she was already at the Dust Soulstar Life Rank, she knew that she would get to the Crownstar Life Rank within a couple of years. She couldn’t help but consider the amount of work it would take to get a new Frontier up and running.
Although she would get her family’s support, still... it would be time-consuming, both physically and mentally.
