Chapter 1071: Leaving The Raymond Viscounty [GT Ranking Bonus Chapter]
Asher sat speechless as he stared at the three people before him. They seemed less than human; they had been degraded to animals at this point. Even tamed beasts weren’t treated this badly. Tamed beasts were fed, trained, cleaned, and cared for, but not them.
Originally, Asher had thought that Viscount Raymond maybe had them under surveillance through his guards to prevent them from fleeing the Viscounty, or perhaps had captured them and kept them somewhere where he still fed them, clothed them, and the likes.
He had never expected something like this. He hadn’t foreseen that Viscount Raymond would push things to this degree.
The worst part was that there was simply no need for any of this. Teo Swig hadn’t seen his family in three years since he was accepted into the Star Academy, meaning that there was no way for the boy to communicate with his family.
So what was Viscount Raymond even trying to achieve by chaining this family up and reducing them to such a state?
’Have they been locked up for three years?’ Asher thought to himself as his entire act and condescending roleplay he had been enjoying crumbled, killing intent flashing in his eyes.
His eyes shifted to Viscount Raymond, his mind burning with the desire to kill this man on the spot. Even if the man had done this to Teo Swig’s parents, what of the baby? Couldn’t he just have mercy on a baby who knew nothing of the world?
Viscount Raymond, sensing Asher’s killing intent, remained silent without a word as he stood at the side. Anger was still burning within him, as he didn’t want to let this family go. But he knew there was nothing else he could do... at the moment.
Asher closed his eyes for a moment. Killing Viscount Raymond would simply create unnecessary trouble for him.
Initially, the act of raising his rapier and slashing at the Viscount’s neck had merely been an act. He just wanted to pressure the man into giving up information, which had worked, but now, he was far from satisfied.
If he didn’t kill Viscount Raymond at this very moment, there would be more victims down the line. There had been no victims for the past six years, as Viscount Raymond hadn’t done anything because of his sheer obsession. But with what he wanted taken from him, the man would most certainly go berserk and go on some sort of raping rampage or something.
’It seems I’m still so soft even after killing so many people,’ Asher mused to himself internally.
Although his family had faced the Imperial for him and hadn’t been charged with treason, it didn’t mean the Wargraves went around disregarding and breaking the Empire’s laws. If they did, the Noble family that Malrik had wiped out when their heir looked at Wuthenya lustfully, he wouldn’t have done that in the dark but in the open for the whole world to see.
Teo Swig’s mother and father stared at Asher. They didn’t know who he was, but they didn’t trust any Noble at the moment after the entire ordeal they’d been through. To them, Viscount Raymond seemed to have grown tired of them and their unbending will and had decided to sell them off.
Although they could see a Knight lying unconscious on the ground, they didn’t think too much about it. To them, Asher could just be another person who was going to take advantage of their son’s talent.
Asher opened his eyes. The moment he did, the unconscious Knight Commander stirred awake. The moment he did, he shot to his feet as he appeared before the Viscount, his spear still in his hand. While he may have been defeated and his right hand broken from the elbow, he still didn’t hesitate to protect the Viscount.
Asher ignored both the Viscount and the Knight Commander, his eyes turning towards the two parents and the child as he spoke while rising to his feet.
"Mr. Teo, Mrs. Swig, I’m Asher Wargrave, Tenth Sun of the Wargrave family," Asher stated, his tone lowering a bit as he felt immense pity and sorrow for what this family had gone through. "I came here to help as a friend of your son’s," he explained.
Although he and Teo Swig weren’t friends, it was the only way to introduce himself, not calling Teo Swig a subordinate, as that would make matters worse. This particular family had spent six years fighting for their son not to become a subordinate, even when they hadn’t seen him for three years.
Asher didn’t sense any emotion from them directed towards him. They simply just nodded and said nothing else, as though they didn’t believe him. After all, the last they heard, the Tenth Sun was an unawakened. Although they had heard the entire Empire chanting his name over two weeks ago for some unknown reason from their cell, they still didn’t trust him.
"Lyra, we are done here," Asher stated, no longer in the mood to continue his acting and roleplaying.
Lyra stepped forward without a word, her Astra energy coming to life as a dome appeared over the family of three, and following it was a flat construct that appeared underneath their feet.
"I would advise you to sit, Mr. and Mrs. Teo," Lyra stated as she stared at them with her black eyes.
She showed no emotion towards everything that had happened, as though she had seen worse... or that servants weren’t allowed to display emotions in times like these.
The Swig family simply nodded and sat on the flat construct. The moment they had, Lyra lifted them off the ground. The moment she did, a pair of butterfly wings appeared on her back, and together, she and Asher shot towards the sky through the window of the room, with Asher covering them in an illusion.
Viscount Raymond simply stared at Asher leaving with his insurance. The moment Asher flew out the window, he immediately began to break things in the living room in rage as he started throwing a tantrum like a child.
"FUCKING FOOL, DOES HE THINK HE IS NOW THE KING OF THE WORLD JUST BECAUSE HE WON SOME STUPID COMPETITION!!!???" Viscount Raymond screamed at the top of his lungs.
But his Knight Commander, knowing his temperament, had already covered the entire room with an Astra energy barrier, sealing all sound.
"WHO DOES HE THINK HE IS? FUCKER!!! I WILL KILL HIM!!! I WILL FUCKING KILL HIM AND THAT UNGRATEFUL FUCKER CALLED TEO. I WILL KILL THEM BOTH!!!" he roared as his fury boiled.
He didn’t stop destroying things until everything within the room was torn apart. Even walls were broken under the force of the impact with which he threw various pieces of furniture.
A couple of minutes passed before Viscount Raymond calmed down slightly when he saw there was nothing else to destroy. He simply stood in the middle of his own mild destruction as he panted from sheer anger.
’Sigh... I should have retired when his father died. I swore loyalty to him, not his idiotic son,’ the Knight Commander thought to himself with a weak internal sigh.
He wanted to leave, but alas, his oath and duty as a Knight bound him to this man who seemed more of an Emovira than a human.
