Chapter 1139: The Algorith [GT Ranking Bonus Chapter]
But still, even though Acker had answered his question, something didn’t make sense. How had Acker known to head toward the Frontier? Why hadn’t he headed back to find the Wargrave Estate? Surely, that would have been the right choice. Asher didn’t think for long before deciding to ask.
"Why didn’t you go to the Wargrave Estate, but instead started making your way toward the Frontier?" he asked.
Acker answered innocently yet again. "That was because when I arrived in the Zarethorne Empire, I fell directly onto the carriage of a group of soldiers who were heading to the nearest Noble Territory from the Frontier to buy supplies," he began. "Thankfully, they recognized me from the Inter-Empire Tournament, and when I asked for the nearest Wargrave, they pointed me in this direction. They told me that a Great Elder of the Wargraves owns this place. So, I figured that since this place was the closest, it was the best option," he stated with a smile on his face.
"It seems Buddha has planned everything from the beginning. Me leaving the Vandross Empire, arriving here, meeting the departing soldiers, and them giving me directions." He paused for a moment before adding, "We are truly fated to be together, Cleaver Of Sin," he said with unwavering belief in his god.
Asher was speechless as he listened to the ludicrous explanation. The more he heard, the more dumbfounded he became.
’If this were a movie script or a novel, I would have called it lazy writing,’ he thought to himself.
After all, situations just seemed to work out in this low-budget Avatar’s favor at all times, and it was crazy. Asher couldn’t help but wonder who would win between Acker and Finch when it came to things happening in their favor. One seemed to possess overwhelming luck, while the other appeared to have the protection of Buddha.
He sighed, then asked one final question. "When did you arrive in the Zarethorne Empire?"
"Approximately twenty-nine hours, twenty-two minutes, and thirty-nine seconds ago," Acker Holloway replied, as he had been counting down how long it would take him to find the Hero.
Asher turned to Lyra and asked, "Did you sense anyone pass us by around that timeframe?"
Lyra nodded her head. "Yes, Young Master. But I never reported it because they weren’t an enemy and had nothing to do with us." She paused for a moment before adding, "Just like this individual, Acker. If the Young Master hadn’t been familiar with him, I wouldn’t have brought the matter to the Young Master’s attention," she stated.
And indeed, she meant what she said. If Acker had been a random individual, she would have ignored him and simply allowed Asher to cultivate. She was Asher’s maid, and his well-being and peace were her utmost concerns, not saving random strangers.
Asher remained silent for a moment, saying nothing to Lyra. He turned his attention back to Acker and spoke.
"Refer to me by my name from now on. If you call me anything else, then I won’t add you to my Hero Party in the future." His tone was flat.
Although he only allowed people he was close with to refer to him by name, and Acker wasn’t a friend, he understood the boy’s attitude to a certain extent. As for not adding him to the Hero Party, Asher had never intended to form one. However, the best weapon against religious people was using their own religion and beliefs to manipulate them.
And since Acker was obsessed with joining some imaginary Hero Party, Asher might as well use that obsession to his advantage.
Acker Holloway frowned, seemingly wanting to disagree. However, he couldn’t bear the thought of not being part of the Hero’s Party. To him, that was tantamount to suicide.
After a moment, he shook his head and spoke. "The Hero holds the highest respect in the world and possesses the blessings of Buddha. I dare not refer to the Hero by name." He paused for a moment before continuing, "I shall refer to the Hero as the Tenth Sun from now on." A weak smile appeared on his lips, his hands remaining clasped together in front of him.
Asher didn’t argue. He simply spoke. "Suit yourself."
Acker Holloway nodded as he spoke. "Amitabha."
At those words, his tears flowed even more heavily, his staff balanced across his shoulders.
"Let’s move," Asher spoke before shooting into the air. Lyra, who had remained silent, swiftly followed as they chased after Kent. They had already instructed him to continue moving without waiting for them.
Upon seeing Asher and Lyra fly away, Acker immediately came to the conclusion that flying was a basic skill required to join the Hero’s Party. After all, even Lyra could fly. To him, Lyra was a member of the Hero’s Party.
Since every member of the Hero’s Party could fly, surely he, the Priest, should be able to fly as well, right?
As the thought echoed in his mind, Acker Holloway’s feet left the earth as he floated into the air.
"Amitabha!" he said with a smile.
He didn’t need to practice or train. He simply became delusional and instantly gained the proficiency he needed. With a booming sound, he tore through the sound barrier and gave chase. Within seconds, he caught up and saw Asher and Lyra standing atop the carriage.
Landing atop it, his eyes shifted toward Kent, but he said nothing about the unawakened man. To him, the fact that Asher had given an unawakened individual the chance to undertake something as dangerous as taking him to the Frontier meant that the Hero recognized the burning determination even within those who had yet to awaken.
It seemed as though Acker Holloway’s mind always misunderstood everything around him on its own, feeding his delusions further and further.
"I will be cultivating for the rest of the journey. We should arrive in approximately seven to ten days," Asher spoke, his eyes falling on Acker.
Acker nodded his head. "I shall cultivate too, Tenth Sun," he replied in a calm tone.
Asher said nothing more. He vanished and reappeared within the carriage, where he entered cultivation. Acker jumped into the carriage through the window, sat opposite Asher, and closed his eyes, sinking into his own cultivation.
And with that, eight days passed before they finally arrived at the Frontier named The Algorith.
