Cleaver Of Sin

Chapter 1140: Introductions

Chapter 1140: Introductions

Asher and Acker Holloway remained silent, neither of them speaking at all. They continued cultivating throughout the journey, with not even Lyra disturbing them for anything else after notifying Asher of Acker’s presence.

As the eighth day passed, Lyra’s voice came from above. After Acker had joined them on their journey to the Frontier, she hadn’t entered the carriage; instead, she remained at the top.

"Young Master, we’ve arrived at the Frontier. In about fifteen minutes, we should be approaching it," she stated calmly, her gaze fixed ahead.

Asher and Acker’s eyes flickered open with interest. Asher’s purple eyes shifted to Acker for a moment before he looked away. He wouldn’t deny it; he had thought that the boy would disturb him throughout the journey, but the boy hadn’t, showing that he took his own training extremely seriously as well.

"Finally," he said as he exhaled. He vanished from where he stood, his figure appearing atop the carriage as he stood beside Lyra. Acker appeared on the other side, his beard and yellow monk’s robe dancing in the wind.

As ten minutes passed, the Algorith Frontier finally came into view, but before Asher, Lyra, and Acker could even take in the sight, a thunderous voice boomed from across the distance.

"HALT YOUR MARCH OR BE ANNIHILATED WHERE YOU STAND!"

At the voice, Kent immediately pulled back, bringing the carriage to a hasty stop. Before Asher stood a huge wall that made even the walls at the Wargrave Estate pale in comparison in terms of height. It was as though it had been built to hold back Titans, should any exist. Aside from that, everything beyond the ridiculously tall wall remained invisible, as though it had been concealed by some sort of special barrier.

Neither Acker, Asher, nor Lyra made a move. They simply stopped and waited for a follow-up or some sort of further instruction. After all, each Frontier seemed to have its own personal rules, aside from the general regulations Asher had anticipated.

"STATE YOUR NAME, PURPOSE OF COMING, AFFILIATION, AND ANY CONNECTIONS!"

The voice came again after seeing them pause, demanding that they state their names and other basic information.

Asher was the first to speak. He remained on his carriage, certain that whoever owned that voice could recognize him but seemingly not caring about it at all. After all, a procedure was a procedure, regardless of connections and nobility.

"Asher Wargrave, Tenth Sun of the Wargrave Lineage, Last Child of The One Above All," he stated, his Astra energy amplifying his voice across the distance.

Acker Holloway followed up without a shred of hesitation, as though he didn’t care whether the Frontiers of Zarethorne accepted foreign subjects or not. It was as though he believed that Buddha would clear the road of any obstacles, regardless of how ridiculous they might be.

"Acker Holloway, Follower of Buddha, Loyal Subordinate of the Tenth Sun, First Member of the Hero Party, Citizen of the Vandross Empire. Amitabha," he stated.

At his words, Asher was rendered speechless. He couldn’t help but wonder when he had accepted this guy as a subordinate, nor did he remember ever creating any sort of Hero Party and making Acker its first member.

’Bruh, what are you even saying? When did I ever accept you as a subordinate? And when did you gain the title of First Member of the Hero Party?’ he asked telepathically, as his perfect Astra energy control allowed for telepathic communication.

Hearing Asher’s voice in his head, Acker Holloway paused for a moment. He didn’t possess any mind communication skill or anything of the sort. However, just as he believed the Hero Party’s basic skill included various extraordinary abilities like flight, his delusions instantly filed telepathic communication under the same category.

In that instant, he gained the ability to communicate telepathically with anyone he considered a member of the Hero Party.

’Amitabha,’ he replied telepathically, neither explaining himself nor attempting to convince Asher of anything.

Hearing Acker’s words, Asher gave up. The sooner he got used to these crazy Buddhist antics, the better it would be for his mental health.

Lyra followed up next, her tone calm as she stood with her maid uniform still perfectly ironed despite the journey.

"Lyra, personal maid to the Tenth Sun, employee of the Wargrave Ducal Family, twenty years of service under the Wargrave name, nineteen years under the Tenth Sun’s name," she stated, her hands clasped in front of her.

Kent, who didn’t possess Astra energy as an unawakened individual, spoke next, raising his voice to the top of his lungs since he couldn’t amplify it like the others.

"Kent, coachman of the Wargrave Ducal Family, nine years of service!" he shouted.

As they finished introducing themselves, the voice remained silent for a moment, as though verifying their identities. Then, it came again.

"YOU ALL MAY APPROACH THE WALL. ON FOOT!"

At the instruction, Asher, Lyra, and Acker jumped down from the top of the carriage. Kent also climbed down from his coachman’s position, but before he could move, Asher stopped him and handed the man the Teleportation Scroll that Azaron had given him to hand over to Kent.

"Kent, thank you for your services, but your journey ends here," Asher began, his voice carrying a note of finality. "This is a Teleportation Scroll. Tear it in half, and you, the carriage, and the mutated Enduron Horses will reappear back at the Wargrave Estate," he explained.

Kent paused for a moment before receiving the Teleportation Scroll with a weak smile. He wouldn’t deny it; he had enjoyed the past three weeks. Although he had done nothing but ride the carriage, he had still enjoyed the battles he witnessed and the massacre the Tenth Sun and Lyra had unleashed.

His gaze shifted towards the Frontier. He wanted to see what lay beyond the immense wall, but alas, his life and destiny as an unawakened individual limited his access to so many places, just like the Frontier.

"Thank you, Tenth Sun," he spoke as he prepared to tear the Teleportation Scroll.

Asher nodded his head. Normally, he would have tipped the man for such a long and dangerous ride, but he had already given him a thousand platinum coins about two months ago, so there was no need for more at the moment.

Asher nodded once more, and just as Kent was about to tear the Teleportation Scroll, the voice came again, breaking through the moment.

"EVERYONE IS EXPECTED TO APPROACH THE WALL! IF ONE OF YOU LEAVES, YOU WILL ALL BE CONSIDERED IMPOSTERS AND JAILED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE!"

At those words, everyone stood stunned, rendered speechless by what they had just heard. Kent couldn’t help but smile as he handed the Teleportation Scroll back to Asher.

"It seems I won’t be needing it at the moment, Tenth Sun," he said, his tone filled with relief.

His relief stemming from the fact that he could finally enter the Frontier and see what lay inside before being granted permission to leave. He would undoubtedly boast about this upon his return to the other servants of the Wargrave Estate, recounting how he had been permitted to enter a place that remained inaccessible to ordinary unawakened individuals.

Asher couldn’t help but give a small smile at the thought of being kept in jail indefinitely. It was a funny sight that he strangely looked forward to. After all, one had to wonder what kind of treatment a Sun would receive in jail, no?

He shook his head and suppressed the useless thoughts. He was here, and it was time to begin this phase of his journey.
