Cleaver Of Sin

Chapter 1141: Corporal Lilian

Chapter 1141: Corporal Lilian

The four of them started to approach the gigantic wall with steady and slow steps. As they approached, Asher couldn’t hear any noise or sound from the inside, as though no one or nothing was inside. If it wasn’t for the voice from earlier, even he himself would think that this place was empty. But Asher knew that whatever barrier was in place was blocking everything or interfering with their senses.

Unlike the gates of every Noble Territory that were built into the walls, where people passed through, there was nothing like that here. It was simply reinforced steel and concrete. Asher couldn’t help but wonder how hard and strong the walls truly were.

’I imagine that Great Elder Damien must have used his Calculator ability to amplify the durability and strength of the wall,’ Asher mused to himself.

The wall shook as a part of it slid open, dust giving way as a long passage stretched forward. Asher entered first without delay, Lyra followed immediately, Acker followed, then Kent, who was guiding the horses.

The moment they crossed from the outside to the inside, the Algorith Frontier opened up to everyone’s senses. Asher couldn’t help but stand frozen for a moment as he simply marveled at the sight before him.

He wasn’t the only one who stared. Even Lyra, Acker, and Kent also simply stared as though this was the first time they were seeing this type of structure.

Before them stood what seemed to be another Noble Territory that spread outwards almost endlessly. Various soldiers wearing different colors of clothing could be seen walking around, some carrying out one duty or another, some simply discussing amongst themselves as they laughed.

But that wasn’t what made Asher and the rest marvel. Above them were literally floating islands scattered in the air. It wasn’t one or two, but thirty in number, each of them connected to each other with what seemed to be black chains. And below these immense floating islands were also smaller floating structures. Although they weren’t as massive and grand as the thirty above them, they still stood tall.

Astra energy flowed into Asher’s eyes as his vision closed the distance with ease, his eyes falling on one of the thirty floating islands, but he saw nothing, as though the barriers that hid things from outsiders beyond the wall also hid things within these floating islands if they weren’t currently on them.

"Welcome to the Algorith Frontier," a voice came from the side.

Everyone broke out of their amazement, their eyes snapping towards the new voice. It wasn’t the same voice that had spoken to them earlier; it was another.

Their eyes fell on a woman who walked towards them with an expressionless face. She had an eyepatch covering one eye. She wore a red-colored uniform, and on the left side of her chest was a singular yellow star that seemed to represent her rank within the Algorith Frontier.

Coming to a stop, the woman spoke, "You may refer to me as Corporal Lilian, and I will be guiding you to the Newbie Area," she stated calmly.

Then, without a word, she turned and walked away as though she didn’t care if they had anything to say or ask her about, or even about the presence of the Tenth Sun.

Asher and the rest said nothing. They simply followed right behind the woman as they looked around. Corporal Lilian didn’t explain anything, so they had to make their own guesses and assumptions.

Within the Algorith Frontier, Asher sensed people of various strengths. Some were at the Brightstar Life Rank, some at the Blazestar Life Rank, and some at the Wavestar Life Rank. As he walked, he noticed some people didn’t wear the Frontier uniforms that were designated into various colors, as though they weren’t a part of the Frontier at all. They simply wore a set of casual clothing with no particular style or color.

As they walked past these people, they turned towards Asher’s group for a moment, then they were stunned upon seeing Asher and Acker, as though they couldn’t believe the Tenth Sun and the Buddhist were actually here.

"It seems the Tenth Sun is joining us this time," a man spoke as he smoked, his eyes on Asher.

"We’ve gotten a lot of fresh blood these past few months. I wonder if the Commander or Vice Commander is actively recruiting soldiers," another replied, his eyes moving towards Acker’s bald head that seemed to reflect the sun itself.

"The Commander and Vice Commander don’t seem like the type to," another stated, a woman this time. "It seems people either need more money or think coming here would pave the surest path to the top," she mused.

"You guys should enjoy the little things. For example, it’s been a while since we saw a horse, let alone a mutated Enduron Horse," another woman stated, her eyes shifting towards Kent as she added, "And even an unawakened individual, too."

Asher, Lyra, Acker, and Kent listened to the discussion happening around them. These soldiers didn’t hide their thoughts, nor did they lower their voices. Although Asher was popular, they didn’t rush towards him asking for autographs, nor wishing to hug him and stuff like that.

Yes, they were surprised to see him, but they were battle-hardened soldiers, not a bunch of random people who went screaming like fans. Of course, eleven months ago, during the Inter-Empire Tournament, they had screamed the Tenth Sun’s name at the top of their lungs and shown immense support, but that was then, and this was now.

Almost a year had gone by since then, and many people had moved on with their lives. Although people would still go crazy the moment they spotted Asher, the soldiers here had other duties to attend to.

After an entire hour of walking, they finally arrived at a building that was a simple bungalow. Corporal Lilian turned towards them as she spoke for the first time during the past hour they had spent walking.

"Enter and follow every instruction given," she stated, then turned around, not waiting for verbal confirmation.

Just as she didn’t care about Asher and Acker’s presence, they too didn’t care about her. The four of them stepped into the building. The moment they entered, their eyes fell on a large hall that didn’t match the size of the building from the outside, and one side of the large hall was a single door. The space had no windows and nothing else, just the entry door and the other second door of unknown purpose.

Inside were people of various ages, genders, demeanors, and strengths. The moment they heard the door creak open, their eyes snapped towards that direction, their gazes falling upon the newcomers. All four hundred of them froze the moment their eyes met Asher and Acker’s figures.

"TENTH SU—" Before a girl could finish screaming at the top of her lungs, a hand immediately covered her mouth, cutting off the sound.

"Did you forget what we were told? No noise allowed here," the boy who covered his sister’s mouth spoke in a low tone.

But unfortunately, it was already too late, as the next moment, a portal opened underneath her, and she vanished from the hall as though she had never been there. Although she had been cut off, she had still made a noise.

The girl’s brother froze, then sighed as he shook his head. He simply watched the portal close. He didn’t stand up to demand that his sister be brought back to him or anything like that. He knew she was safe, as they had been informed of something like this earlier.

With that, his eyes shifted towards Acker as he simply stared at the bald Buddhist.
