Chapter 1180: Black Orbs [GT Ranking Bonus Chapter]

Asher stared at the fifteen basketball-sized black orbs. He didn’t sense even a trace of Astra Energy from the floating black orbs. He didn’t know what they were, so he simply shifted his eyes towards Lyra, who proceeded to explain what they were.

"Young Master, these were among the things I found within the treasures the End-Class Monster possessed. Although I don’t really know exactly how they work nor how they were created, they were used in wars back in ancient times, and I’m also guessing they are out of production."

She explained telepathically as she stared at the floating orbs.

"And if I’m to guess, they should only have enough power to kill Voidstar Life Rankers for sure, and also seriously injure Soulstar Life Rankers if they are caught off guard, but if they can block, then the power of these black orbs is useless against them."

She stated in finality, her eyes still on them as she was indeed a bit fascinated by the power these small black orbs possessed.

Asher didn’t speak for a moment as he stared at the black orbs with the same fascination as Lyra had. When he had talked about killing Voidstar Life Rankers and above, he thought and assumed he had been wishing for the impossible due to the scale of power and vitality possessed by beings of such a level. But for it to even injure Soulstar Life Rankers was an insane bonus he didn’t see coming.

The next moment, a smirk appeared on his lips. He already knew those three Regents were deployed to hold back the three Vice Commanders, so they were all Soulstar Life Rankers. Although he guessed that they were Radiant Soulstar Life Rankers, and that these black orbs might not even affect them even if they didn’t block, he didn’t care. He would still set off the explosion and watch it all burn down.

He wasn’t a sadist; he just looked forward to the explosion. After all, there was a beauty to setting off an explosion and feeling the blast wave brush against your body.

"These are perfect, Lyra." Asher spoke telepathically.

"Thank you, Young Master." Lyra replied with a nod, saying nothing else.

But although Asher loved the black orbs, he still had something bothering him; the explosion range.

A powerful explosion like this would definitely reach the Algorith Frontier walls without a shred of doubt, and if the explosion wasn’t stopped, it would erase thousands, if not millions, of Frontier Soldiers.

His earlier missions with Cadet James, Cadet Sonya, and the rest were within a range of forty kilometers, meaning there was no way to avoid this. A casual punch from a Voidstar Life Ranker could erase terrain of such a range, let alone an explosion capable of killing one.

"Is there any way to control the explosion range?"

Asher’s eyes shifted towards Lyra as he asked, not bothering to guess or assume.

Lyra’s eyes flashed for a moment as she understood why the Young Master was asking about this, but unfortunately...

"Unfortunately, Young Master, there is no way to control it. We either set it off or we don’t."

She stated telepathically as her expression seemed to turn downcast for a moment, as she wasn’t able to perfectly help her Young Master.

Hearing Lyra’s words, Asher sighed as he broke eye contact. He stared at the ground for a moment, then closed his eyes as he stood in silence. After a moment, he opened his eyes as he spoke telepathically without a change in expression.

"We will still use the black orbs."

Hearing Asher’s words, Lyra stayed silent for a moment. Although she could watch millions of Velkarin Empire Soldiers die without batting an eye or feeling anything, it didn’t mean that the same could be said for Soldiers of the Frontier, as they gave their lives for the Empire every day.

Asher, who was staring at Lyra, picked up the minor change in emotion, although her face remained flat. He couldn’t help but give a minor smile. Although Lyra was his trusted maid, it didn’t mean she was an emotionless machine without thought that could only carry out precise orders.

"Don’t worry, Lyra."

He spoke, the light smile on his face not vanishing as he stared at her.

"While I might be ready to erase millions of enemy Soldiers from another Empire, it doesn’t mean I would kill innocent, hard-working people. I’m only setting off the explosion regardless because I’ve accounted for the fact that the Commanders and Vice Commanders definitely have measures in place for something of this scale."

He explained gently as he leaned against the wall and watched her expression.

"And the barrier or whatever they have in place would be able to stop the power of a Crownstar Life Ranker, let alone an explosion that can barely injure a Soulstar Life Ranker."

He stated in finality as he crossed his arms against his chest.

At Asher’s words, Lyra stayed silent, not giving a smile or anything. She simply nodded as though she had no opinion on the matter. But Asher could read the relief coming from her entire demeanor after his explanation.

Asher’s words were indeed true. There was no way a Frontier would be built without a dome or something similar in place; it was one of the basic requirements of a Frontier. Of course, if this was the Outpost from his second Star Academy mission, Asher wouldn’t set off the explosion, as that Frontier and the Algorith Frontier weren’t on the same level.

The dome of such a low-level Frontier wouldn’t be able to stop the power enough to injure a Soulstar Life Ranker.

With the explanation out of the way, Asher decided to begin in earnest as he had no reason to waste time.

"How do we activate the black orbs?"

He asked as he tore his eyes away from Lyra and towards the black orbs.

Lyra immediately began to explain how the orbs functioned without wasting time. Asher simply listened as within a minute, Lyra was done explaining, as it wasn’t anything sophisticated. And luckily for the both of them, it didn’t require Astra Energy to activate.

As if it did, that was another issue, since Astra Energy couldn’t work within the silver metallic underground bunker.
