Chapter 638: Buzzing
Chapter 638: Buzzing
Malrik’s figure tore downward as he shot towards the Royal Palace, completely ignoring the Imperial Knight Command and the Vice Commander; these two had never been his goal, his sole objective was the Emperor who had dared to attempt controlling his little brother.
The Commander and the Vice Commander immediately gave chase the very instant they saw Malrik move, but Malrik had already covered the distance in less than a second. Malrik’s blue eyes gleamed with an icy coldness as his gaze locked onto the Palace; he could already perceive a gigantic dome covering the entire Palace, a barrier protecting it from damage, but it did not stop him in the slightest.
Without the faintest hesitation, he swung his Katana, Solaris, with immense and powerful force, Solar Energy cloaking his blade in a blazing radiance, and with a detonating impact, katana met shield. Malrik felt his blade rebound with immense force, his Solar Energy violently bouncing off the dome as it slammed back towards him with equal ferocity.
Malrik simply vanished from where he stood, effortlessly dodging the rebounding Solar Energy, which instead tore forward and slammed violently into the incoming Commander and Vice Commander, disrupting their advance.
Malrik stared at the dome with calm indifference; although he had not destroyed it in a single strike, he was not the least bit bothered. If the protective barrier of the Emperor had been so easily destroyed, then the Emperor might as well have been nothing more than a fraud. Malrik knew, without the slightest doubt, that he had not destroyed the barrier earlier not because it was too strong, but simply because he had not applied enough strength behind his attack; that was all there was to it.
But regardless... the barrier was not his enemy.
Malrik moved to teleport, intending to bypass the obstacle entirely, but space itself refused to bend to his will. He arched an eyebrow slightly as he observed that the barrier seemed to possess a unique ability or inherent feature that nullified teleportation or any form of space manipulation entirely.
"MALRIK WARGRAVE, YOU SHALL PAY FOR YOUR SINS!!!" the Knight Commander shouted furiously as he came streaking towards Malrik at immense speed, the Vice Commander following closely behind him without hesitation.
Malrik’s eyes slowly tore away from the barrier before him, his cold gaze locking onto the incoming aged duo. "You know, I simply intended to ignore the both of you, since neither of you were my target, but it seems that if I do not put you down, you will simply continue buzzing in my ear without end," he stated in a flat, emotionless tone, as though he were addressing insignificant strangers rather than powerful opponents.
The next moment, he vanished from where he stood in a streaking golden-orange blur as he appeared directly before the Vice Commander. The man reacted instantly, slashing forward with his sabre, red lightning surging violently around him, boosting his speed to immense levels while imbuing his strike with terrifying destructive force.
Malrik’s katana flashed forward with blinding speed, his blade cloaked in blazing Solar Energy, but just as their weapons were about to collide, his katana abruptly shifted mid-motion, changing its trajectory and intended target as he redirected his strike towards the Vice Commander’s chest instead.
And with ruinous, devastating force, Malrik’s blade tore into the Vice Commander’s breastplate, Solar Energy searing violently into the metal as though it sought to melt and erase it entirely, while countless katana marks ran rampant across the Vice Commander’s body.
With a titanic and devastating impact, the Vice Commander’s body was hurled downward with unstoppable force, his form crashing violently against the earth and forming a massive crater that yawned open for fifty kilometres in length and extended over a thousand meters deep, the land itself unable to withstand the sheer power behind the blow.
But despite the maddening impact, the man did not sustain excessive damage; he had already coated his entire body in red lightning, significantly mitigating the majority of the damage he would have otherwise suffered.
Malrik’s eyes snapped sharply to the side, and from that direction, the Commander was already in motion, his massive broadsword booming downward with enough force to seemingly split the very sky in half, intense blue flames roaring and cloaking the weapon in destructive energy.
Seeing the incoming attack, Malrik simply shifted slightly to the side as though the sky itself were solid ground beneath his feet, effortlessly sidestepping and evading the strike as though it required no effort whatsoever. The Commander’s broadsword unleashed a blazing arc of burning energy that tore downward with immense destructive might, crashing violently against the barrier below and sending ripples across its surface.
Malrik did not merely evade, he retaliated. His leg tore upward with ridiculous and unnatural velocity, the wind and surrounding air screaming violently as his knee drove upward toward the Commander’s jaw with devastating force. But the Commander’s reaction was immediate and precise; his right hand released the hilt of his broadsword as his palm shot forward, stopping Malrik’s attack mid-motion, compressed rings of wind exploding outward from the point of contact.
But before the Commander could even process what was happening, Malrik casually waved his hand, and a burst of erasing golden-orange energy thundered outward with annihilating force, slamming directly into the Commander at point-blank range. The Commander was immediately blown backward, completely caught off guard, his body streaking violently through the air as the detonation and explosive force of the attack sent him flying uncontrollably.
But before he could even stabilize himself midair, Malrik was already there. He appeared in a flickering instant, his foot raised high toward the sky, before he brought it crashing downward with the unstoppable force of a falling comet, his heel screaming toward the Commander’s chest with catastrophic power.
The attack landed with space-shattering force; the world itself seemed to momentarily freeze before resuming as though lagging under the immense power behind the kick. The Commander was driven downward uncontrollably as he lost all balance and control over his body, his back slamming violently into the earth below as dust erupted upward in massive waves, sand, stones, and boulders launching into the sky due to the sheer impact.
The Vice Commander moved once again, already in motion as lightning crackled violently around his arm, and from the sky above, the clouds parted as a colossal pillar of red lightning descended violently onto Malrik’s position. Malrik’s head snapped toward the incoming attack, yet he made no attempt to defend; instead, his body dissolved into countless motes of light-like photons as he vanished from his position entirely.
In the next instant, his body reformed seamlessly beside the Vice Commander, and the moment he reappeared, he unleashed a devastating, sun-infused punch, Solar Energy roaring outward like a raging, reality-rending supernova.
The Vice Commander’s body immediately transformed into streaks of lightning as he evaded the attack, narrowly escaping as Malrik’s fist burned through the very fabric of space itself. But even as the Vice Commander dodged, Malrik pursued him immediately, moving as though he could read the man’s every action like an open book.
The very instant the Vice Commander reappeared, Malrik was already there, same position, same motion, same devastating strike, and like the collapse of an astral body, his fist slammed violently into the Vice Commander’s breastplate with a thunderous, bone-rattling impact.
The Vice Commander was driven downward once again, but this time, before he could crash into the earth, he forcefully regained control over his body, his feet slamming heavily against the ground with a resounding and echoing boom as his form skidded backward across the terrain until he finally came to a complete and forceful stop.
