Chapter 1982  Old and Young Preparing for the Future

Having left the palace at the core of what could only be described as an endless city filled with people from all four core regions, the older man who had managed to break through to the Land Creation Realm just before the destruction of the Blue Sea Empire could not help looking towards the senior that could be considered the backbone of the Blue Sea Empire and the one he had grown up admiring his entire life with a puzzled look on his face before opening his mouth to speak.

 "Ancestor, what should we do now? From the looks of things, we can't rely on that old friend of yours to help us in dealing with the demonic cultivators. Although we managed to carry a few hundred people away and part of our foundation, it's far from enough to reestablish the Blue Sea Empire…" Finishing with a clear look that told the old ancestor that he didn't entirely understand their reason for even being at this border city in the first place.

After all, though the border city was a great place for them to hide away from potential enemies coming to seek revenge against them now that the Blue Sea Empire had fallen and their greatest reliance in the form of the guardian formation powered by the ancient formations of the ruins that the capital city was built on top of, it wasn't likely in his eyes that someone would come for revenge considering that the two of them had managed to survive.

Instead of staying at this border city located at a focal point between the Southern Central Region and the Northern Central Region, he felt that they would be far better finding somewhere new to establish themselves, be it in a remote corner of the Northern Central Region where they could slowly start reestablishing the Blue Sea Empire, the chaotic Eastern Central Region or even the Southern Central Region filled with opportunities and danger alike.

This thought that they were wasting their time inside this border city having only solidified after they had finally been granted an audience with the lord of this border city, an old friend of the ancestor, who had firmly told them that they wouldn't help them deal with the demonic cultivators and aid them in taking back their territory.

To be honest, though this city lord had a major power far beyond the Blue Sea Empire before its destruction behind him, he felt that even as a newly promoted Land Creation Realm cultivator, he was stronger than this city lord who was also at the Early Stage of the Land Creation Realm. Making him even less positive towards this city lord who had even dared to look down on his ancestor who was clearly far stronger than himself as someone at the Peak of the Middle Stage of the Land Creation Realm.

In response to the question being flung his way, the Ancestor of the Blue Sea Empire could only roll his eyes before patiently explaining to his junior. Knowing full well that it was important for the future of the Blue Sea Empire that no enmity appeared between the two of them who were now the main pillars of what remained of the Blue Sea Empire.

"I understand what you mean and how everything I'm doing looks useless, but I do have a purpose behind taking us to this place. Even knowing ahead of time that old friend of mine would refuse my request. My main goal was to get news about the Star Creation Realm cultivator from the Star Shattering Sect to the seniors behind him."

"Huh? Why? Isn't the Star Shattering Sect a hidden ancient sect? Why would it matter if those senior figures turn their attention towards the Northern Central Region for a few days?" Not understanding what his ancestor meant, the newly promoted Land Creation Realm ancestor could not help tilting his head in confusion, something that caused the old ancestor to roll his eyes.

"You… Didn't you pay attention when I explained the reasoning behind the location of the capital?"

"That… Isn't it to draw strength from the ancient formations of that ruin and in turn help us monopolize those ancient ruins and the treasures inside?"

"…"

Hearing the response from this newly promoted ancestor who was essentially the second most important figure left in what remained of the Blue Sea Empire, the old ancestor silently closed his eyes as he realized the future of the Blue Sea Empire would be fraught with difficulties beyond what he had originally expected.

"Did… Did I say something wrong…?" Seeing the ancestor that he had grown up admiring and looked up to his entire life suddenly looked like he aged another ten years, the younger ancestor could not help feeling something was wrong as he asked in a somewhat uneasy tone.

Indeed, he might not have been paying attention back when he had been promoted to ancestor after reaching the Profound Immortal Realm in the past as he had been too excited to finally meet the ancestor he had grown up admiring his entire life, but he should have learnt everything he could about those ruins over the long years since he became an ancestor–or that was what he wanted to say, but all he ever remembered doing after becoming an ancestor was explore some relatively safe parts of the ruins beneath the capital city or cultivate on his own.

Different from other ancestor who were active in establishing families, taking wives or husbands, he had remained entirely focused on cultivating as he wanted to make his ancestor proud, something that had made him a bit of an odd ball among the other ancestors at the time, but it was also what had allowed him to breakthrough to the Land Creation Realm.

"You… Hah… Never mind, outside of monopolizing the ancient ruins and utilizing the strength of the ancient formations to power the guardian formation of the capital, there is also a third and more important reason behind the establishment of the capital city above the ancient ruins that isn't public… And that is the fact that the ancient ruins contain the inheritance of an Ancient Venerable Realm cultivator." Knowing about the odd nature of this only other pillar for the remnants of the Blue Sea Empire to rely on, the old ancestor decided to explain the situation, so he understood what he was planning on doing.

"I see! You want to use the ancient inheritance to make those senior figures make a move on the demonic cultivators!" Seemingly understanding the meaning behind what the old ancestor said, the young ancestor nodded his head in understanding. Feeling that this plan was indeed brilliant, as there was no way those senior figures at the Star Creation Realm would be able to hold themselves back after knowing that the demonic cultivators sat atop the inheritance of an Ancient Venerable Realm cultivator.

In some way, the existence of the demonic cultivators and earlier actions of the Star Creation Realm cultivator from the Star Shattering Sect provided them with a perfect excuse to attack the demonic cultivators without giving away anything about the inheritance hidden beneath the capital city of the Blue Sea Empire by blaming their actions on them having mistaken the attack from the Star Creation Realm cultivator from the Star Shattering Sect as having been from the demonic cultivators. Meaning they had set out to deal with the demonic cultivator at the Star Creation Realm.

"You… I might have to seriously rethink some future plans… Why in the world would I hand over the inheritance of someone in the Venerable Realm to someone else when I have spent the past tens of thousands of years trying to get my hands on it!?

I don't plan to disclose the existence of that inheritance to anyone; I'm just planning to utilize one of the hidden formations that I still have some partial control over to leak out a demonic presence comparable to someone in the Star Creation Realm when those senior figures have their attention focused on the Northern Central Region. Having them erase the demonic cultivators while searching for this demonic presence at the Star Creation Realm."

"This… But… Won't they still end up finding the ancient ruins…?" Taken aback by the sudden angry voice of his ancestor that echoed out in his ears through their divine sense communication, the young ancestor could not help voicing out a small protest.

"Those ruins have been around for far longer than the Blue Sea Empire, those Star Creation Realm cultivators and other powerful figures have long since looked through it even before I was born, without any help, they have no way of finding that inheritance even if they decide to search through the ruins.

Enough about this for now, we should get back and prepare for what is to come. Even if the demonic cultivators are taken care of, we still have to deal with those other major powers eyeing us."

Shutting down the conversation with those few words, the two soon made their way back towards the inn that they had taken over(bought) during their stay in the border city. Preparing to retake their territory when they got the chance. The most important thing being to retake the capital and reestablish the formations that had been destroyed before any other major power could come in and stop them.
