Cultivating Disciples to Breakthrough

Chapter 1992 Sixth Disciple

Chapter 1992  Sixth Disciple

Managing to calm down Li Chi after ensuring him that there was nothing for him to be worried about, Xuan Hao decided to not hold back and directly stated his intentions to take hm on as a personal disciple, a revelation that caused the mind of the little half spirit to freeze up. Requiring a great deal of time to fully process the information that had just been relayed.

"Me… A disciple of the ancestor…? Impossible! I'm not worthy of such a revered status, I-"

"Calm down!" Seeing the little one starting to short circuit in a downwards spiral of denial, Xuan Hao stepped forward and stopped him before he had the chance to continue any further down the self-decrepitating train of thought. "You are more than worthy of becoming my disciple if I said so, you don't need to think any other negative thoughts."

"But what would the other elders think? After all, I'm far from comparable to senior's other disciples and when it comes to senior sister Mui, I'm more than twice her age…"

"You don't need to worry about any of that. After all, she has been my disciple for a long time and has had a long time to grow under my guidance compared to someone like yourself. Not to mention, my main purpose in picking disciples have nothing to do with their talent for cultivation, just look a Bai Ning, he isn't exactly the strongest among my disciples, came earlier than Mui and is older than her, but his cultivation realm is nowhere near the same level as her.

The reason I took him in is fate, the same reason why the two of us ended up meeting and the same reason why I ended up taking in my other disciples." Smiling kindly as he said this, Xuan Hao watched Li Chi visibly calm down. Feeling that it might be fine to lie every now and again. After all, it wasn't exactly fate that had been the main driving factor behind his acceptance of his previous disciples. At the very least, not to same extent as it was with Li Chi, whom he had encountered entirely by chance when he had been looking to take on a new disciple.

If not for encountering him in this kind of situation, there was a very low chance that he would have ever considered taking on someone with Li Chi's talent and comprehension as a disciple.

Not because he looked down on his talent or anything like that, but more so because he feared the other party comparing himself too much with his other disciples like Li Chi had just been doing.

But even if Li Chi had compared himself to those five at the moment, he was sure that it wasn't something that would seriously affect him and mostly just stemmed from Li Chi being worried that it would end up affecting his reputation if he ended up taking him on as a disciple, a notion that was rather laughable to Xuan Hao, who didn't believe that his current reputation inside the Star Shattering Sect was anywhere near that easy to shake.

Even if Li Chi ended up turning into an ordinary sect elder in the future, there was still Chu Yang, Qing Yi and the rest.

If anything, a troublemaker like Mui had a far larger impact on his reputation than one of his disciples only turning out to become an ordinary sect elder ever could.

For someone who truly cared about upholding their reputation, they would have never dared to take on a troublemaker like Mui in the first place…

"That… I…" Faced with his calm and nonchalant answer, Li Chi could not stop himself from nervously biting his lips as he began seriously considering the offer from Xuan Hao.

No matter how he thought about it, there was nothing bad about becoming the disciple of someone who could essentially be considered the main power behind the entire Star Shattering Sect. Even if the grand elder learnt about it and had to find someone else to take over his work because of this, he knew that his grand elder would be more than happy with something like that knowing that he had become the disciple of Xuan Hao.

The only thing that made him hesitate was the fact that he felt that he wasn't worthy of becoming the disciple of someone like Xuan Hao.

In his own eyes, he wasn't someone impressive and had spent most of his life studying ancient texts of the half spirit race before him and the rest of his fellow half spirits became a part of the Star Shattering Sect. Having already reached the age of thirty by the time he became part of the Star Shattering Sect… And without any cultivation beyond the Qi Condensation Realm, he was far from impressive and had ended up with the simple job of assisting the grand elder in managing the sect's storage realm with an ultimate goal of becoming an elder in charge of the sect library in the future so he could continue his hobby of reading ancient texts like he had done before joining the Star Shattering Sect.

In every sense of the word, he was unambitious and didn't have any aspirations for greater power or status within the sect. Content if he would be able to spend his time leisurely reading in the sect library.

And as he thought about this, he shared his thoughts with Xuan Hao, who only gave him a kind smile in return before asking him a simple question.

"What would you do if you run out of ancient texts to read inside the sect library?"

What would I do…?

Hearing this question, Li Chi could not help tilting his head a bit before thinking about the question that seemed to be far removed from what he had expected. Given how long his lifespan would become just after reaching the Nascent Soul Realm that he felt fully confident in breaking through to in the future, it wasn't weird that he would be able to read through all the ancient texts that existed within the sect library long before he got anywhere close to the end of his life. Even if he didn't manage to break through to the Domain Lord Realm and the sect continued adding new ancient texts to the library.

In that kind of situation, what would he do?

To this question, he couldn't find an answer, as he instead turned to look up to Xuan Hao for guidance, something that earned him a small chuckle from the person in question.

"The answer you are looking for is rather simple. If the sect doesn't have any ancient texts for you to read, you should seek them out on your own. From what I see, you enjoy learning about the past and I imagine it has to do with the fact that you are a member of the half spirit race and is curious about how you and the rest of your race ended up in the situation you were in before becoming part of the Star Shattering Sect."

Nodding his head in agreement with Xuan Hao's words, Li Chi listened far more eagerly than he ever had, as this was indeed the main reason why he had started reading the ancient texts when he was young. To learn about the past. To learn about what had happened to the half spirit race alongside the other races that should have once existed throughout the continent far before he had been born.

"For this reason alone, I think you are more than suitable as my disciple. Not to mention, for you to uncover the past, you need strength to explore the world. Especially given others might not treat you kindly given the fact that you aren't part of the human race." Ending his short encouragement, Xuan Hao closed his mouth and waited for Li Chi to speak. Knowing that his next words were likely to determine whether he would become his sixth disciple or not.

"I…" Taking his words to heart, Li Chi found himself at a crossroads. Knowing that no matter what path he ended up taking, it would undoubtedly lead him to leaving the sect at some point in the future to try and seek out the past when the sect's own records inevitably ran out… And that choice inevitably also meant that he would stand a far greater chance at archiving his goal if he became Xuan Hao's disciple…

"Disciple Li Chi greets master!"

So, after a few seconds of hesitation, Li Chi knelt down in front of Xuan Hao a formerly accepted his offer, causing Xuan Hao to smile brightly at the sight of the small half spirt, who had now officially become his sixth disciple. Feeling a hint of anticipation thinking about what he would accomplish, as the history of the half spirit race was also something that greatly intrigued him. Feeling that any information Li Chi might uncover in the future would also be useful in uncovering the greater picture of what had ended up happening in the ancient past that had ultimately resulted in the current state of the world.
