Cursed Immortality

Chapter 1042: The Holy King

Chapter 1042: The Holy King

Jacob was moving at a breakneck speed, covering hundreds of miles within seconds. No one could keep up with him as he left all those meddlesome people of various organizations behind.

However, right at that moment, Jacob felt watched by something, which was extremely strange and had never happened to him before. Jacob looked around and found there was no one, but the feeling of being watched was getting stronger.

However, Jacob still didn’t find anything as he began to grow agitated. But his figure never stopped as he cut through the scorched winds like a phantom, across the endless dunes.

Yet that peculiar, oppressive sense of being watched tightened around him, seeping into his very bones like the gaze of a predator, ancient and regal.

Suddenly, all at once...

ROOOOAAAAR!

A deafening roar ripped across the desert sky, powerful enough to ripple the very dunes beneath. Jacob’s eyes flickered violently as he looked upward.

From the blazing horizon descended a ferocious creature. A colossal beast, its scales shimmering with silver metallic luster that refracted the desert sun into countless dancing rays of holy brilliance.

Its wings beat the air like living cathedrals of silver flame, each stroke releasing pulses of oppressive might. Despite its draconic savagery, it radiated an austere holiness, its eyes twin pools of cold, judgmental moonlight.

’A Wyvern?!’ Jacob instantly recognized this magnificent beast as he had already encountered it two times in his journey up to this point.

However, the Silver Wyvern in front of him was far more imposing and regal than the previous two wyverns Jacob had encountered. The reason behind this was simple, actually, this Silver Wyvern was fully matured and at its peak, which was the Tier-3 Legendary King State Rank. Not to mention, the element this Wyvern was born with was scarce.

But what made Jacob even more surprised, upon the Silver Wyvern’s back, riding as though born to command such a beast, sat a single figure.

A woman, graceful beyond mortal measure. Draped in immaculate robes of pure white edged with star-gold embroidery, her posture was upright yet serene, embodying both majesty and merciless resolve.

Long golden hair cascaded down her back like a river of sunlight, framing a pale, tranquil face carved with otherworldly severity. However, the most eye-catching detail about her face was her spiral eyes, which glowed faintly with mystic law, suggesting untold depths of power and wisdom.

A delicate crown of silver branches and holy gems rested upon her brow, glinting under the desert sun.

Even seated, she exuded an air of calm command that seemed to weigh down the very air itself like a sovereign who ruled not only through power, but by the unyielding certainty of faith.

Her spiral eyes, cool and detached, locked onto Jacob as if weighing his very existence. The sense of being judged became incredibly suffocating as Jacob finally understood where that feeling was coming from, and those spiral eyes gave Jacob chills.

This woman was none other than Holy Pontiff Eliza, the Holy King of the Cardinal Spirit Temple—the apex authority of all Faery Humans, whose word could move entire crusades and shatter kingdoms.

The Silver Wyvern’s speed was very fast, faster than any Legendary King, as it quickly reached in front of Jacob. But Jacob has already stopped moving as he looked at the hovering gigantic Silver Wyvern in front of him, which wanted to devour him whole.

However, Jacob merely glanced at the tamed beast and looked towards its owner silently. Eliza also did not speak immediately. Instead, she observed Jacob in silence, her gaze sharp enough to flay the truth from any soul, her aura tranquil yet immovable as a holy mountain.

The desert itself seemed to hush as the Holy King of the Cardinal Spirit Temple finally opened her lips to speak, "I’m the Holy Pontiff Eliza. I want to invite Esteemed Myth to the Cardinal Spirit Temple."

’The Holy King!’ Jacob instantly recognized this woman’s identity when he heard ’Holy Pontiff,’ and truth be told, he was surprised because Eliza was very different from other Legendary Kings, and her eyes gave him the creeps.

A hint of astonishment flickered in his eyes, "Who would’ve thought that the Holy King of the Cardinal Spirit Temple would actually be a Quasi-Myth in disguise!"

Eliza’s eyes suddenly widened ever so slightly as a hint of surprise surfaced in them. Although she may look calm and composed, just like Jacob, she was also feeling a strange sense of dread and familiarity from Jacob’s eyes.

This was a very strange feeling that she felt for the first time, originating from her Inner Espy Vision. Moreover, she was secretly shocked that she couldn’t completely see through Jacob at all despite activating her eyes, and she was only able to lock on because she received the Knight King’s distress message.

Eliza was also skeptical because another Quasi-Myth involvement in this incident of Temple of the Blazing Flame, and even thought Knight King was making excuses for his incompetence.

After all, everyone in the Quasi-Myth circle knew about Eliza’s true powers and background. They know that the Temple of the Blazing Flame was within her territory, so no other Quasi-Myth would get involved unless they wanted to draw Eliza’s ire.

But now that she had met Jacob, she suddenly realized that Jacob was probably an unidentified Quasi-Myth, and she also couldn’t see through his true power even with her Inner Espy Vision, which was almost impossible.

That’s why she instantly decided to take another approach and invited Jacob back to her palace for a ’chat’. She clearly didn’t want to fight with Jacob right now when she had no idea how powerful he was and what kind of trump cards he had. Not to mention, he was also the one who had captured the entire Temple of the Blazing Flame; he can’t be underestimated.

"Since Esteemed Myth could tell who I am. As a fellow Myth, I hope you can do me the honor of hosting you at my humble abode." Eliza spoke gracefully, without any hint of arrogance or attitude.

But Jacob’s eyes were still fixed on her spiral eyes as he started to have other thoughts, and after contemplating for a few moments, he nodded, "It’ll be my honor to be your guest. Lead the way!"
