Cursed Immortality

Chapter 1144: Debtor or Creditor?

Chapter 1144: Debtor or Creditor?

Jacob’s train of thought was disrupted by Immortika’s abrupt yet expected rip-roaring cliffhanger, and he knew it was time to move on, for he wouldn’t get more out of the Cursed Book.

Nonetheless, Jacob had already gotten more than enough hints about Destin Saint’s prowess, not to mention he learned an unexpected fact about his own Arcane Law.

’Infinity exists in everything and in every possibility, because this is what infinity is supposed to be, but it’s more than that, and the sheer irony of all this is I’m deprived of this power, and all of this is because of that perverse bastard!’

Jacob felt the very marrow in his bones raging with fury and indignation every time he remembered why he couldn’t comprehend the Arcane Law of Infinity, especially now that he had learn about one of its terrifying properties.

Still, he kept his rage in check since he couldn’t act upon it even if he wanted to because his opponent was too shrewd and powerful.

"Alright, I won’t ask you about Destin Saint after you confirm just one last thing from me!" Jacob’s eyes turned sharp as he knavishly asked, almost sounding like Immortika, "Just like I have to pay a price or meet certain yet extremely steep conditions to cast Cursed Immortality’s abilities, does Destin Saint have the same restrictions? Furthermore, how steep do you think they are, or if that backlash would make him incapacitated for a while?"

Jacob had firsthand experience in using the Infinity Blood Sacrifice, and it can make any wish come true as long as he has the lifespan to squander.

As for the Infinite Remains, even though Immortika refused to reveal the depths of this ability until he experienced it, and Jacob hasn’t yet, he still has a feeling that it won’t be without any strings attached, because if it isn’t, then it would be too powerful.

"Hah, truth be known, I can’t comment on this. But every cause has an effect, and every action needs a force to carry it. This is all I can say." I

mmortika cryptically stated.

Jacob’s eyes flicked with a hint of understanding, and he no longer asked anything further related to this because he had already gotten an ambiguous yet definite answer.

’So, he does suffer from a backlash, as to what extent, I can’t be sure...’ Jacob mused with a hint of gloat.

"Now..." Jacob’s eyes abruptly ablaze with killing intent as he uttered, "...I need to know more about Immortal Nimrod. After what I saw, the first thing I’m curious about is whether he really has a Universal Godly Scripture, because Destin Saint seemed pretty convinced.

"Furthermore, if I’m not wrong, the whole reason Destin Saint used that demented ability is that he probably wants Immortal Nimrod to think his schemes and secrets are still secrets.

"As for why, my guess is limited because if Destin Saint was willing to pay such a price to have this kind of advantage over Immortal Nimrod, so he’s probably scheming something huge, or he’s probably going to craft a trap for Immortal Nimrod and deal with him once and for all..."

A hint of uncertainty surfaced in Jacob’s tone, "But what I can’t understand is, why couldn’t Immortal Nimrod use his Arcane Law? After all, it would usually imply that he didn’t have a Universal Godly Scripture.

"However, Destin Saint at that time seemed to have discovered something which should be the reason behind Immortal Nimrod’s inability to use his Arcane Law, and that fact irked Immortal Nimrod enough to reveal such a reaction at that time!"

"Hehe, well, well, you did pay attention." Immortika suddenly teased, making Jacob’s expression chill slightly before the cursed book continued at the same pace, "Before you start complaining, I’ll tell you the answer to your main question, which is if that so-called ’Immortal-fellow’ has a Universal Godly Scripture or not. And the truth is..."

Jacob’s eyes flickered with anticipation, with a hint of both worry and hope. He was worried because he didn’t want Immortal Nimrod to really have a Universal Godly Scripture, and for the same reason, he hoped it would be true!

"...he has it!" Immortika revealed languidly as if revealing something trifling.

The flames in Jacob’s hollow sockets instantly flared intensely when Immortika confirmed what Destin Saint presumed, and he no longer had any doubt about this secret because, at this point, he trusts Immortika probably more than himself without even knowing it.

But before Jacob could demand an explanation about Immortal Nimrod’s inability to use his Arcane Law, Immortika ambiguously asked with a hint of slyness, "Hehehe, as for why he can’t use his Forbidden Arcane Law, haven’t you already guessed it?"

Jacob suddenly stopped and didn’t speak because Immortika wasn’t wrong, for he had already thought about the reason, not to mention Destin Saint even said it, and Immortal Nimrod was even provoked by it!

At this moment, Jacob finally spoke, his tone like a sharp blade cutting the silence, "The Cursed One! You are the reason for his inability to use the Arcane Law, and that’s why he has been hunting your heirs so he could regain his true prowess! Am I right?"

"Hahahaha..." Immortika suddenly burst into maniacal laughter, and this was all Jacob needed to know that what he just said was most likely true.

However, he couldn’t help but feel even more indignant because essentially, it wasn’t his fault at all, and everything was related to Cursed Immortality.

But because he was now the heir of the Cursed Book, he also became the debtor of everything related to the Cursed Book, which includes an overpowered cosmic entity, Immortal Nimrod, as an enemy!

The most ironic part about this whole situation was that, just like Immortal Nimrod needed to hunt down Jacob to regain his power, Jacob also needed to retrieve the Longevity Path Glory Gem from Immortal Nimrod to progress further on his path of Immortality.

"Just why...? NO, I mean, how in the world did this happen? It’s plain ridiculous that because of you, a UGS’s heir has lost his ability to use his Arcane Law, or should I say that UGS has turned into a vegetable? Is his UGS so weak?"

Jacob couldn’t help but question with skepticism, utterly floored by this complicated yet utterly messy situation!
