Cursed Immortality

Chapter 1145: The kind of Immortality...

Chapter 1145: The kind of Immortality...

Immortika suddenly stopped laughing upon hearing Jacob’s words and scoffed, "Heh, as I’ve said before, every cause has an effect, and it’s not my fault that Immortal-fellow is greedy. In fact, his current situation has nothing to do with me; he brought it upon himself."

Jacob was startled because Immortika might not have directly admitted it, but those ambiguous words clearly indicate that Jacob was right. It’s just that there was more to the current situation than he knew.

Jacob asked with uncertainty, "What do you mean?"

"Hehe, that’s for you to find out. At least until you retrieve the Longevity Path Glory Gem, I can’t reveal these matters to you because I’m restricted. However, you have already gotten firsthand experience about the gist of it, and now it’s on you how you’ll use it to your advantage." Immortika curtly stated as if ending the topic without giving clear answers, as usual.

Jacob’s eyes flickered with indignation, and he was speechless because this was essentially telling him to complete an impossible mission before he could get the ’reward,’ and he didn’t like it at all.

Nonetheless, as Immortika stated, since he now knew about the crucial fact that Immortal Nimrod couldn’t use his Arcane Law, and the reason behind the latter’s hunting him was directly connected to Immortal Nimrod’s inability, he could prepare accordingly and maneuver it to his advantage.

However, Jacob knew that to gain this vague advantage, he had acquired another opponent in the face of Destin Saint, and that guy wasn’t a handicap like Immortal Nimrod. He held tremendous sway in the entirety of Zodiac Plains.

"Alright, I won’t ask about it anymore. But I still have a question that I don’t understand. You said the heirs of UGS aren’t restrained or restricted by laws and orders, so I can’t understand why Destin Saint would need a proxy or join hands with that woman (Alexandra) to do his bidding?

"Furthermore, Immortal Nimrod seemed to be just restricted to the Universal Void, and he couldn’t enter without suffering from consequences, according to the Destin Saint. Well, I can assume it has something to do with his current situation, or Destin Saint serves as some deterrent, so he didn’t dare come.

"Moreover, Destin Saint seemed to have done something to make the laws of the Legendary Plains stronger or alter them so Immortal Nimrod can’t do anything here, yet he did exactly that, which caught Destin Saint off guard. Just what is going on exactly?" Jacob asked, as this question was haunting him just as much as finding out the truth about Immortal Nimrod.

"Hah, well, this is easy. Consider it this way. If Destin Saint wants to enter the Middle Plains from the Upper Plains, he needs to cross a vast expansion of the Universal Void.

"Now, you tell me, if that Immortal fellow is restricted to the Universal Void or has made it his playground, do you think he’ll allow Destin Saint to cross with his real body simply?

"Not to mention, the Universal Void contained horrors that even Destin Saint won’t dare to confront, UGS heir or not, and I’m pretty sure even that Immortal fellow won’t dare to provoke those horrors unless he has absolute authority over the Universal Void, which is impossible, especially if he didn’t have his Arcane Law.

"Finally, do you remember when you completed the Cursed Totem Skeleton? Hadn’t I told you about the consequences of completing it all at once? Hehe, and you chose exactly that path and ended up weakening the protective layers that separate the Universal Void and Zodiac Plains, thus, that rampage of the Zodiac Beasts ensued!

"So, to quash that anomaly, I’m sure they have invoked the Zodiac Will, which ended up restricting everyone’s movement, especially those who could ignore the rules, whether UGS heir or not.

"Although it still won’t completely restrict a UGS heir, it won’t be that easy, and that’s probably why Destin Saint or anyone else above the allowed ranks couldn’t enter the Middle Plains, not until the effect of that invocation fades away completely, just to be on the safe side. Hehe~!"

Realization dawned on Jacob at that moment, and on top of that, he was speechless. He didn’t know what to feel because he wasn’t expecting that he had unknowingly played such a massive role in restraining both Immortal Nimrod and Destin Saint’s movement within the Middle Plains.

’No wonder Destin Saint said everyone fears the Cursed One. It’s not just because of the ridiculously mysterious abilities of Cursed Immortality, but also the effects it has on cosmic scales that could basically flip the balance of the Universe.

’I’m afraid that if not because of this situation, Immortika wouldn’t have bothered to reveal so much about the events of that day. However, it still won’t change the fact that I’m in extreme danger, and neither Destin Saint nor Immortal Nimrod would leave me alone.

’I was thinking of leaving the Middle Plains before, but now that Immortika has revealed the restrictions, is it the correct choice to do so? After all, Upper Plains are filled with Gods, far stronger than me, and that place is the home ground of Destin Saint and his clique, mentioned by Immortal Nimrod.

’Once I’m there, I won’t be protected by Universal Void, and I have no clue how that place works. That’s why staying within the Middle Plains still is relatively safe, especially if I can cope up in the Infinite Space and gather Lifespan until I’m ready and have the means to protect myself from those guys...’

The more Jacob thought about this matter, the more his decision to leave the Middle Plains wavered since he knew what kind of domain he was walking into, especially with Destin Saint looking for him.

However, this doesn’t mean Jacob was willing to stay in the Middle Plains forever, even if he could live virtually forever with Nyx’s help; he didn’t want this kind of ’immortality’.

Although his goal was to live forever, this doesn’t mean he was willing to live like a mole his entire life.

As he rose above the level of power and discovered new things, his primary purpose of immortality wasn’t just to carry his wife’s memory anymore.

Now, unbeknownst to even Jacob, he wants immortality for himself as well, the kind that allows him to be a true immortal above everything else!
