Cursed Immortality

Chapter 1220: Knocking on the Door of Death! (1)

Chapter 1220: Knocking on the Door of Death! (1)

The Great Cosmic Continent of Sagittarius no longer looked like a place that belonged to the living.

From afar, it was wrapped in a vast, shifting veil of gray-black mist. It didn’t behave like ordinary fog. It pulsed, as if breathing, and twisted, as if aware.

Every now and then, faint shapes pressed against it from within, like something trying to claw its way out or something dragging prey deeper inside.

By now, everyone in the Legendary Plains knew one truth. Once you crossed that veil, you didn’t come back, because the terrifying entity that seemed to rule over death within the continent wouldn’t let you.

Yet despite that knowledge, the empty void around the Sagittarius Continent was anything but deserted, at least not today, for it was crowded with thousands upon thousands of colossal spacecraft that hovered in orbit, forming a suffocating blockade around the veiled continent.

Warships shaped like blade edges, floating citadels bristling with cannons, organic vessels pulsing like living beasts, and mechanical fortresses radiating cold, calculated power…

It looked less like an army and more like an interstellar execution, as no one spoke of retreat or caution, for they had come for one thing, either control or annihilation!

At the center of this overwhelming fleet floated the largest vessel of them all, like a behemoth.

Its structure bent space around it, its surface layered with shifting runic arrays that flickered between dimensions. Entire smaller ships docked along its sides like parasites feeding off a titan.

Inside, within the command chamber, eleven figures stood, and each one alone could dominate a continent, for each one radiated a pressure that distorted the space itself, as they were all Quasi-Myths of the Mythical Coalition!

Today, so many members of the Mythical Coalition were gathered in one place, which was an extremely rare occurrence.

At the center stood the one they all faced; it was none other than the Myth of Reverend!

He stood calmly, hands behind his back, his expression composed, almost serene. Yet the air around him subtly warped, as if even space hesitated to behave normally in his presence.

Around him were the pillars of the Mythical Coalition.

Myth of Inferno, flames coiling lazily behind his wings. Myth of Thunder, arcs of lightning snapping across his massive frame. Myth of Deadly Envy, silent, watching, her gaze sharp and calculating.

Others stood as well, figures cloaked in power, each carrying their own terrifying authority.

Yet, despite all of them being equals in rank, they were listening to him.

“…Sagittarius is no longer a battlefield or could even be considered a continent anymore,” one of the Quasi-Myths said, voice heavy. “It had turned into a living domain of the hidden entity of the Undead Skyfall Canyons. You’ve all seen the reports, as even our probing armies vanished within hours once they reached the vicinity of the canyons.”

Another added coldly, “Even the outer undead tides are multiplying beyond projections. If we miscalculate this, we won’t just fail, we’ll feed it even more. The Undead Lich King and his subordinates are too powerful, and all of them control billions of Undead!”

After a pause, the Myth of Thunder spoke, his voice rumbling like distant storms as he looked at the Myth of Reverend with a disgruntled expression, “And despite knowing all of this, here we are, still insisting that we enter and face them.”

All eyes shifted back to the Myth of Reverend, but he didn’t respond immediately.

Instead, he raised his gaze slightly, as if looking beyond them, beyond the ship…beyond reality itself.

When he spoke, his voice was calm yet profound, “Nothing within that veil exists outside His sight.”

Every myth present in the room flinched because they all knew who the Myth of Reverend was implying, and silence fell with deep reverence that emerged in their eyes, even among those who didn’t agree with the Myth of Reverend.

“The Blissful Everlife God has already shown the path,” The Myth of Reverend continued with certainty, “The Sagittarius Continent is not a dead end. It is a convergence. A necessary step.”

His eyes swept across them as he confidently declared, “And the undead… are not the true threat.”

That line lingered, and even among Quasi-Myths, unease flickered, but it didn’t last because faith replaced it.

One by one, their expressions hardened, not with doubt, but with conviction, as if it came from the Blissful Everlife God, then it must be right.

“…Then we proceed,” Myth of Inferno said quietly.

Others nodded, reluctantly at first, then firmly as the decision was made.

“Prepare the fleet,” Myth of Reverend said. “We enter together!”

Throughout the entire exchange, one figure had remained completely silent, the Myth of Oracle!

She sat slightly to the side, her masked face unreadable, the faint pentagram on it rotating slowly. She hadn’t spoken, or intervened, not even opposed, but she hadn’t agreed either, and that silence felt wrong.

Because everyone in that room knew a truth they didn’t dare say aloud, the Mythical Coalition had a master, and it wasn’t the Myth of Reverend, for he was only a temporary proxy appointed recently.

While the Myth of Oracle was supposed to be the one with greater authority, over the years that balance had quietly shifted, and no one seemed to stop it, not even the Myth of Oracle herself nor the Coalition Master.

Soon, the chamber emptied as one by one, the Quasi-Myths left, their auras fading as they returned to their respective commands.

Until only two remained, the Myth of Reverend and Myth of Oracle, silence lingered for a long moment, then she spoke for the first time.

“…Are you certain?” Her voice was calm, but carried a faint chill, “That the ‘Cursed One’ is there?”

Myth of Reverend didn’t turn immediately, but a faint carefree smile touched his lips, completely opposite to his solemn side just a moment ago.

“The signs are too consistent to ignore,” He replied before he began pacing slowly, “A leader emerging within Sagittarius. Uniting Life and Death factions. Wielding curses strong enough to suppress Legendary Kings. Oh, and they can use the Death Law without corruption.”

The Myth of Oracle remained still and continued to listen, her thoughts unknown.

“More importantly,” he continued, “this individual appeared precisely after the disturbance within the Undead Skyfall Canyons. Which could only mean they were always there, and most likely the cause behind the entire event!”
