Chapter 1229: Your Trial is Over!
Chapter 1229: Your Trial is Over!
Once the Undead Lich King vanished, silence followed, and the violent battlefield below suddenly felt incomparably quiet.
Jacob then slowly turned his head toward a particular direction far beyond the horizon, and a faint flicker of interest surfaced within his ghostly eyes, but it vanished just as quickly.
Thereafter, he lowered his gaze toward the battlefield beneath him. The Death Grave-Sealing Dome had already been half-destroyed by the Undead Skyfall’s divine spell, and nearly one-fourth of the undead army had been annihilated by the aftermath alone.
The remaining undead were fleeing desperately in all directions, abandoning the battlefield entirely, as the Corpse Wyvern Lord and Axe Bone Tyrant had long since escaped.
Upon the shattered remains of the underground sanctuary, countless survivors stood frozen in shock. Both the Life and Dead Faction survivors stared blankly toward the sky.
The Spirit Eye King, Wise King, Giant War King, Blood Doom King, Blood Moon King, Nightingale King, Corrosion King…all the surviving leaders and their trusted Legendary Kings were in utter disbelief as they looked at the feeling Undead who were about to annihilate them.
They all thought that today was going to be the day of their impending doom because of that terrifying dome, and two Quasi-Myths were personally acting. But all of a sudden, a terrifying power destroyed the dome with a massive army of the Undead.
Not just them, but the other survivors, some were trembling, some were terrified, and others couldn’t even comprehend what had just happened.
Yet among all of them, one figure stood completely motionless. It was none other than the Death Lord Elia!
Her dark hair fluttered softly amid the ruined winds while her abyss-like eyes stared upward, towards a peculiar, still-intact section of the dome, in a daze.
Moreover, unlike the others, there was no fear, confusion, or relief within her gaze, but only disbelief, trembling emotion, and t the faintest trace of hope she had buried for countless years.
Right at that moment, Jacob seemed to have finally discovered what he was looking for as his eyes flickered profoundly and fell upon her as no means of barrier could restrict it.
Jacob silently observed her for several breaths, knowing she had also sensed his presence through their ‘connection’.
In a calm yet authoritative voice, he spoke neither loudly nor softly, yet it was like an unstoppable storm and reached Elia…
“Come, your trial is over!”
Elia, without caring about anything else, rushed towards Jacob’s direction. All those leaders and legendary kings who were about to seek her out noticed it, and after glancing at each other with meaningful expressions, they instantly followed her.
It didn’t take long for Elia to finally reach Jacob, and the moment she saw that familiar figure wrapped in a black windbreaker, her eyes turned misty, but she didn’t dare to cry in front of her teacher, for she knew he wouldn’t like it.
Nonetheless, she still kneeled before him without a shred of hesitation, and with deep respect and worship, she greeted him with a hint of a suppressed cry, “Teacher!”
Behind her, those Legendary Kings were startled when they saw the usually imposing and emotionless Death Lord kneeling in front of the mysterious hooded figure.
But when they heard her calling him ‘Teacher,’ their eyes trembled before flashing with a hint of terrifying realization.
Just now, they were wondering what could have caused such chaos amidst the Undead and scared them so much that they were forced to flee.
But now, seeing the kneeling Death Lord, they knew it was most likely this mysterious teacher of hers who had scared away even those Quasi-Myths and had annihilated that powerful dome and Undead army.
However, with that thought in mind, they didn’t dare to show any disrespect or make any excessive moves, afraid of offending this hidden expert, who could be their only lifeboat to escape from this hellish continent.
Jacob didn’t even glance at those mighty leaders of the two factions, as his sole focus was on Elia in front of him.
A flicker of rare nostalgia surfaced within his cold gaze as the once naïve girl he had left behind was now gone, and in her place was a true sovereign forged through blood, despair, and endless death. A heroine who had survived hell itself.
But the nostalgia only lasted for just a fleeting moment, and he coldly nodded in acknowledgment as he said, “You’ve come far since the last time I saw you.”
Elia trembled with ecstasy upon hearing Jacob’s familiar cold voice, which was just like she remembered.
But she kept her calm and maintained decorum, and with self-blame, she said, “Elia seeks your forgiveness for not meeting the teacher’s expectations! In the end, I still need Teacher to save me, and I haven’t completed the task of conquering the Undead Skyfall Canyons!”
A terrifying resolution filled with madness flashed in her eyes as she solemnly stated, “But as long as I have more time to grow, I can deliver the entire Undead Skyfall Canyons to your feet! Just give me the order!”
The Legendary Kings, who had been secretly listening to their conversations, were flabbergasted when they heard those terrifying words, and couldn’t help but look at the hooded man as if he were some kind of lunatic or just that powerful to raise such a student, and then gave her a task akin to a death sentence.
A flickered approval surfaced in Jacob’s eyes as he was pleased with Elia’s behavior, and he nonchalantly replied, “You’re not to blame here. I’ve even underestimated the scope of the Undead Skyfall Canyons and literally sent you to your death.
“However, not only did you survive till this day, but you even thrive in this dangerous environment, and reached the Legendary King State before the time limit I imposed on you. You have done your task splendidly, and earn all the rewards coming your way!”
Elia’s eyes shimmered with ecstasy as she couldn’t hide the joy in her heart and stop the tears from streaming down her face because Jacob’s approval and recognition meant everything to her, as this was the biggest reward she could ask for.
At that moment, everything she had endured and every struggle she had gone through to reach this point…everything was worth it!
