Chapter 1260: The Vanguard Fleet finds the Survivors

Chapter 1260: The Vanguard Fleet finds the Survivors

After having a clear target, the vanguard fleet didn’t slow down, and with the absence of the Undead Army, they reached their destination without wasting any time.

“We are approaching the marked zone.”

At that moment, Myth of Inferno’s voice sounded through the communication array.

Jacob looked down. Below, the death mist was thinner than elsewhere, but the land was covered in shattered formation marks; broken pillars stood in a circle, and hidden beneath them was a defensive barrier so weak it was on the verge of collapse.

Inside the barrier, life auras flickered.

‘The survivors…’

Jacob’s eyes turned cold as this was clearly not the area where he had confronted the Undead Skyfall, but it wasn’t far from it either.

The survivors probably decided to move away from that place after he left with Elia and create this superficial haven, and the vanguards were easily able to spot them.

The moment the fleet appeared above them, panic erupted below. Several Legendary Kings, like the Spirit Eye King and Wise King, had assumed command after the Giant War King’s cruel ending.

They were both startled at first and almost thought the Undead army was here, but when they saw the familiar technology of the Legendary Plains and the insignia on them, which clearly didn’t belong to the Undead Skyfall Canyons, a hint of hope ignited within their heart.

They instantly flew up from within the formation zone, their faces pale and guarded despite the stirring ecstasy in their hearts. Behind them, hundreds of survivors looked up at the warships with shock, fear, and faint hope.

They had already survived the undead; they had already witnessed the Death Lord leave with her mysterious teacher, especially that teacher, who seemed even more terrifying than the Undead Skyfall.

Now another terrifying force had arrived, but knowing about the inescapable barrier around the continent, they knew this armada wasn’t here to sightsee.

The Myth of Inferno descended first, his aura restrained but still oppressive, and the Myth of Thunder followed beside him. Jacob remained slightly behind and above them, perfectly matching the Black Archer’s usual behavior.

The survivors’ leaders trembled when they sensed the three Quasi-Myth-level presences, which were just like those Dukes of Death but still below the Undead Lich King.

The Wise King exchanged a glance with the Spirit King and the other Legendary Kings and quickly stepped forward and bowed.

“Esteemed lords, I’m the Wise King, one of the Leaders of the Life Faction, and beside me is the esteemed Alchemy King, the Spirit Eye King, and behind me are the remaining survivors of the Sagittarius Continent. We have no hostility!”

Myth of Inferno nodded dismissively before speaking directly, “Don’t worry, we are not here for your lives.”

Everyone seemed visibly reviled, and the flames of hope burned even fiercer.

The Wise King quickly asked, “T-then, are you here to rescue us?”

The Myth of Thunder coldly glared at him as lightning crackled over his body, “Rescue you lot? Aren’t you putting too much importance on yourselves?”

The Wise King and others visibly trembled when they sensed the faint pressure on them and dared not speak for fear of provoking them. They almost thought their statuses meant something, but in truth, in front of absolute power, they were just empty titles!

The Myth of Inferno gave the Myth of Thunder a reproachful look, and later grunted while keeping his mouth shut.

He then looked at the survivors and impassively said, “Your rescue can be arranged, but in return, we need accurate information.”

The despair in the Wise King’s eyes was instantly replaced by hope as he quickly swallowed and inquired, “Information? We’ll tell you everything you want to know without hiding anything, as long as esteemed lords are willing to lend a helping hand!”

The Myth of Inferno seemed pleased with the Wise King’s attitude, and his voice rumbled like a raging flame, “Tell us what happened here. Why did the undead retreat? And where is the…Death Lord?”

The moment the name Death Lord was spoken, the survivors’ expressions changed drastically as fear, reverence, confusion, and something close to worship flickered in their eyes.

‘So, they are indeed after Elia, which means the Myth of Reverend or someone in the Mythical Coalition knows about the Cursed One…’

Jacob wasn’t much surprised by this discovery anymore, as he had already assumed this and continued to observe everything silently.

The Wise King seemed to hesitate as if he was contemplating whether he should really tell them and risk offending that terrifying teacher of the Death Lord.

Myth of Inferno’s eyes narrowed. “Speak. Hiding information will only harm you.”

The Wise King’s body trembled, and he quickly lowered his head as he knew he was already dead if he stayed inside this continent, and now this was their only chance to leave this wretched place.

Moreover, since the Death Lord and her teacher had already left, they probably won’t care about them anymore, so saving his life was more important at this moment than fearing something that might not even happen.

“The Death Lord…left.”

Myth of Thunder instantly frowned. “Left?”

“Yes.” The Wise King’s voice became unsteady. “She left with her teacher.”

The air suddenly became silent as Myth of Inferno’s expression changed slightly and Myth of Thunder’s eyes narrowed. Even some commanders behind them revealed shock.

“Teacher?” The Myth of Inferno’s eyes narrowed dangerously, “The Death Lord had a teacher? Where did he come from? Was he here all the time with you?”

The Wise King continued, as if afraid they would not believe him, “No, that mysterious entity was never with us, but he appeared about a month ago before all of you esteemed lords’ arrival.

“We saw it with our own eyes. At that moment, the Undead Lich King descended with two dukes, and the Death Lord was already badly wounded and could not resist. Then…then that person appeared.”

His voice trembled harder, “He wore a dark windbreaker. His face was hidden. He didn’t release any aura at first, but the moment he acted, the entire battlefield changed. The Undead Lich King couldn’t resist him. Even when some terrifying entity within the Undead Skyfall Canyons descended, he still wasn’t afraid.”

The survivors behind the Wise King began murmuring.

“He killed the Giant War King…”

“The Death Lord knelt before him…”

“The undead all retreated after that…”

“He looked at the sky once, and even the heavens seemed to freeze…”

Myth of Inferno’s face grew solemn, and Myth of Thunder’s expression turned grim as the survivors’ stories grew even more ridiculous, yet they all seemed to have similarities.

Jacob remained motionless, but his mind was cold, as these survivors had seen too much, not enough to expose him as Black Archer.

But enough to make the Mythical Coalition understand that the Death Lord was not alone, and enough to make the Myth of Reverend wary of his existence and might even drop the search for the Cursed One!

After recounting the events, the Wise King finally said the most important words, “That entity was extremely terrifying, and we didn’t dare to approach. But all of a sudden, the Death Lord rushed towards him and called him teacher!”
