Cursed Immortality

Chapter 1271: Reality Bites! (4)

Chapter 1271: Reality Bites! (4)

After the notion of Nelson headed straight towards the Undead Skyfall Canyons, Myth of Reverend’s brows frowned slightly, “How troublesome. Or is it merely a coincidence, and he’s heading somewhere else? Anyhow, he can’t leave this continent, and that’s enough!”

The possibility couldn’t be dismissed. After all, his current method wasn’t tracking Nelson directly but tracing the unique destiny intertwined with ATLAS and the Order of Evernight. It was a unique method of the Blissful Everlife God for hunting down constants!

If those people happened to move toward the Undead Skyfall Canyons, the result would naturally point there as well.

Without another word, he began moving, and each step crossed dozens of kilometers. The crystalline bracelet emitted faint pulses; each pulse further refined the direction.

After one hundred kilometers…three hundred…a thousand, his expression gradually changed as the bracelet never deviated, not once.

With every correction, calculation, and resonance, it pointed toward exactly the same destination of the Undead Skyfall Canyons.

“…”

The Myth of Reverend finally stopped, and his eyes slowly narrowed.

“So, you truly are there.” A dangerous light flickered within those serpent-like pupils, “Have you really gone there…or have you already found the Cursed One?”

Either possibility would completely overturn his original plans as he remained silent for several moments, and then he slowly looked in a particular direction.

Far ahead of him, the overwhelming aura of the Mythical Coalition continued pressing toward the canyons, and they might’ve already been clashing with the Undead Skyfall Canyons’ undead armies.

Not to mention that, by now, his disappearance had almost certainly been discovered.

Normally, he would’ve preferred to let them remain confused, but not now, especially when his destination had become identical to theirs. A faint, warm, and harmless smile gradually returned as though nothing unusual had happened.

He reached into his sleeve and withdrew an ancient talisman. Its surface was wrapped in countless overlapping sealing runes. Each seal represented a restriction powerful enough to isolate even Myth-ranked communications.

Without hesitation, he crushed it.

‘Crack…’

The countless seals shattered simultaneously, and golden-blue light erupted before a communication formation immediately unfolded before him.

Almost instantly, the face of the Myth of Inferno appeared; his expression carried obvious relief, mixed with unmistakable suspicion.

“Myth of Reverend! I’m finally able to get a hold of you! Where are you right now?”

The Myth of Reverend blinked once before offering his usual apologetic smile, “My apologies, fellow Myth. It seemed I had caused some trouble for everyone, but I have good reason for my rather undignified actions.

“You see, I sensed a rather peculiar danger lingering behind our expedition. So, I feared it might threaten our rear once the battle began. That’s why I quietly came to investigate.”

He sighed lightly before smiling apologetically, “Fortunately, it appears my concerns were somewhat exaggerated. Now that I’ve already finished here. I’ll return immediately.”

—

Within the main flagship, the projection of the Myth of Reverend was visible to everyone present, and they had heard everything.

No doubt, they were suspicious and almost panicked when they thought about Myth of Reverend deserted them in this dangerous place, but when Myth of Inferno’s communication finally connected, everyone was visibly relieved.

Moreover, hearing the Myth of Reverend’s explanation, many of their doubts and suspicions almost vanished as the former was only acting to protect them.

Myth of Inferno felt more assured as he nodded, “Please come back quickly, it seems the Undead Armies aren’t as weak as we thought!”

Myth of Reverend’s eyes flickered with a peculiar glint as he nodded, “I’m on my way, please hold on until then!”

Just like that, the communication ended, but the atmosphere in the chamber had turned for the better.

However, there was one person who didn’t share their joy, and, in fact, he couldn’t help but think they were all idiots for believing the Myth of Reverend so easily.

Jacob glanced at the talisman in Myth of Inferno’s hand, where the projection of Myth of Reverend had been just now.

‘Did he give up finding the Cursed One so quickly? Or did he find something and is now coming back because of it?’ Jacob thought coldly.

Among everyone else here, only he knew what the Myth of Reverend was truly after, and his behavior was quite strange, as the latter didn’t seem to be the type to give up so easily.

Just when the atmosphere inside the command citadel had only just begun to ease, and the Myth of Inferno had barely lowered the communication talisman…

‘WOOOOOOO!’

A deafening alarm suddenly erupted throughout the flagship as crimson warning runes ignited across every wall.

The entire command hall was instantly bathed in flashing red light, making every Quasi-Myth’s expression change.

“What happened?” The Myth of Thunder barked.

Before anyone could answer, a frantic voice echoed from the command center.

“WARNING! Massive law fluctuations detected!”

“Enemy Quasi-Myths are channeling large-scale Mythical Arts!”

“Threat Level… EXTREME!”

The enormous battlefield projection instantly shifted, and the image zoomed toward the front lines of the Undead Army.

At that moment, everyone’s pupils contracted because ten of the twenty-one Dukes of Death had stepped forward simultaneously.

Each one had raised both arms toward the heavens as boundless Death Law and energy erupted, turning the entire gray sky dark, and space itself began collapsing beneath the pressure.

“…”

No one spoke, as even without understanding the exact spells being prepared, every Quasi-Myth instinctively sensed the terrifying danger they contained.

The surrounding alarms only became more frantic.

“Warning!”

“Detected energy exceeds previously estimated parameters!”

“Unable to calculate destructive radius!”

“Recommend immediate interception!”

The Myth of Venom’s smile completely disappeared. “They’re planning to bombard the entire battlefield…”

The Myth of Alchemy’s expression became solemn, “And they’re using ten Quasi-Myths simultaneously…”

The Myth of Dark Blaze stared at the projection, “…They’re not even testing us.”

“We don’t have the luxury to wait for the Myth of Reverend!” Myth of Thunder grimly stated!

—

Outside, above the endless undead ocean, ten different Death Law branches began intertwining.

One Duke pointed a skeletal staff toward heaven with countless black stars condensed overhead. Another raised an enormous bone banner, making an endless tide of ghostly specters gather behind it.

Another slowly drew an obsidian greatsword. The very horizon split apart as an incomparably enormous sword shadow appeared above the canyon.

Another stretched both skeletal hands outward. Endless rivers of corrosive death mist surged together, condensing into a gigantic gray sun.

The remaining Dukes were no slower, as every one of them condensed a different catastrophic Quasi-Myth Rank Spell.

The surrounding space shattered, then healed again, making the heavens tremble and the earth groan.

Even millions of undead instinctively lowered their heads beneath those overwhelming laws.

Inside the flagship, everyone finally understood that the Undead Army had absolutely no intention of allowing them to organize themselves. They intended to seize the initiative from the very beginning.

The Myth of Inferno slowly stood, and the flames covering his body erupted.

‘BOOM!’

An overwhelming sea of crimson fire instantly filled the command hall as his eyes burned with absolute determination.

“So, it seems they aren’t planning to remain passive either.” He slowly looked toward every Quasi-Myth present, “We’ve already come this far. There is no retreat.”

His voice suddenly became commanding as a terrifying pressure exploded from his body, “Everyone, move out. I refuse to believe those undead are stronger than us!”
