Chapter 875 - 25: Humiliation
Chapter 875: Chapter 25: Humiliation
Wang Shuai is missing.
Xiao Xian doesn’t know when she and Wang Shuai got separated.
The Underground Botanical Garden of Senluo Wanxiang, with its rich soil and occasional bursts of birds and beasts, forced Xiao Xian to remain highly vigilant.
Entering deep into the Underground Botanical Garden, the lush trees obscured the artificial lights, and a blanket of white mist surged in.
A few minutes earlier, she could still hear Wang Shuai’s voice of caution, but as the fog thickened, it reduced visibility from five meters to just one, until she finally couldn’t even see her outstretched fingers.
The only thing Xiao Xian could do was to watch her step.
After a few steps, Xiao Xian frowned and quickly stopped.
"It’s the sound of running water," she gathered the Spiritual Energy within her body, focusing it on her eyes, and was finally able to perceive the scene a few meters ahead.
A large river whose width was indiscernible, only the faint splashes of water could be heard, dampening Xiao Xian’s shoes.
It was dangerous; a few more steps forward, and she might have stepped into the water. The river’s surface, shrouded in fog, revealed no signs of ripples.
Should she cross or not? Xiao Xian kicked a clump of dry mud. The mud lump skipped across the water, creating several skips, and on the third skip, something splashed up, breaking the surface, and the hard-as-wood clump was crunched to smithereens with a "kala".
Xiao Xian’s foot hovered at the river’s edge, her mouth agape; she had never seen such a thing appear on the water’s surface.
The first thing to surface were a pair of hideous eyes, followed by grayish-blue thick, scaly skin, from head to tail, roughly measuring two to three meters, with conical teeth gleaming like blades, its powerful jaws crushed the dry lump instantaneously.
"Crocodiles, you keep crocodiles in the Biological Garden," Yiyi shrieked from the tree house, as Xiao Xian stood next to a river keeping crocodiles.
"It’s too dangerous, you’ll get her killed," Yiyi no longer considered Quinn an easygoing person, as his so-called "little pets" nearly cost her friend’s life just now.
"No need to make a fuss, just a small guy weighing about a hundred kilograms. Your friend seems to be concealing her abilities; a small crocodile like that is nothing to her," Quinn was watching with great relish.
The big river was a natural underground river incorporated into the Underground Biopark during construction. It housed four or five Wide-mouthed Crocodiles, specially imported from Australia, a variant of Saltwater Crocodiles, which are the largest crocodiles in the world today.
The one that displayed its skills in front of Xiao Xian was a juvenile Wide-mouthed Crocodile. Mature mutant Wide-mouthed Crocodiles can weigh up to 200 kilograms and can instantly tear a rhinoceros apart. Its danger level makes even large fishing companies, equipped with professional hunting gear, keep a respectful distance.
"She must find a way across; that river is the only way to the tree house. Quinn, I’m giving you a heads up, she’s quite close with Ziang, and if you can give her a pass, Ziang would be grateful," Professor Rock glanced at Quinn. Seeing the fervent interest in his eyes, it seemed unlikely he would change his mind and let that female foreign exchange student wander in and out as she pleased.
"What does that brat Guan Zhouziang have to do with this? Unless..." Quinn chuckled slyly, "Then I must certainly keep watch. If that kid takes a liking to her, she must be quite a formidable character." Quinn moved to the computer and flicked a row of switches.
"What are those switches for?" Yiyi asked, unable to intervene in time.
"Sonic signal drivers, used to summon the crocodiles in the river for feeding," Quinn grinned, revealing teeth comparable to the crocodiles themselves.
"You," Yiyi’s face flushed, slamming her hand onto the computer. The device shattered, and the screen turned black.
Quinn shrugged indifferently, "Rock, I’ll put this on your tab. Now that it’s broken, we have no choice but to head outside and see for ourselves," Quinn led the charge out, Professor Rock frowned, attempting to stop Yiyi from following, but before he realized, that little girl had already dashed from the tree house.
"Have they all forgotten that there were two people who entered the dense forest of the Underground Biopark?" Rock sighed with a headache, feeling sympathetic for Wang Shuai, and leisurely followed them out.
Wang Shuai encountered trouble as well, but the trouble he faced wasn’t from a large, carnivorous bird of prey but another invisible and equally vexing thing - Miasma.
