Death… And Me

Chapter 3607: Snap!

Chapter 3607: Snap!

*Snap!*

"Ah!" Grititi suddenly got a scare, quickly jumping back and turning to see who did that.

Rean looked at him, laughing. "Hahaha! Come on, little bat. You are too scared. I just snapped my fingers."

Grititi gritted his teeth, feeling even angrier, but then he noticed something weird. Why was Rean here? Grititi was certain he was several kilometers ahead just a split second ago, so how did Rean approach him without him noticing.

Then, he looked around, and he saw that he was actually very, very close to the other groups he was pursuing earlier. How did he get so close to them? It didn’t make any sense. "What is happening here?"

"Oh, nothing much. You were just locked in time, which was so slow that you might as well say you were not moving at all," Rean explained.

"Stop wasting your time, and let’s keep going," Roan warned, and their group continued walking ahead, leaving a puzzled Grititi behind, who quickly caught up to them.

"Wait, wait, wait! What about those guys there? Are they also locked in time? First of all, how are we even moving in this place if time is slowed down? Don’t leave me in the dark like that!!!" Grititi was truly scared this time. He truly was powerless against whatever slowed down his time. He didn’t even notice it happening.

Rean shook his head in response, though. "That you will have to ask Master. He was the one who set you free."

Royer felt like crying. He did? When? How come he doesn’t remember that? He was pretty sure it was Rean who got Grititi free just now. Not only that, but it was also Rean who was allowing them to move inside this area of slowed-down time. "Ahem... this is my little secret, so I will leave it up to your imagination."

Grititi narrowed his eyes, but since no one wanted to tell him, he couldn’t do anything about it. The weird thing was that their group was now walking with him. Wasn’t he supposed to walk ahead?

"What are you waiting for? You have a job, so go to the front already," Royer ordered Grititi.

"Yes..." Grititi sighed. Why did he have to think about it? He could only do as asked and move in front of the group.

"Don’t go far away. Stay within a hundred or so meters of distance from us. Otherwise, the time around you will slow down again," Royer warned. Well, it was Rean who asked him to give that warning.

Grititi nodded and stayed around 90 or so meters ahead this time instead of several kilometers. He couldn’t help but look back, seeing that the other groups who had arrived in this region earlier were still locked in time. ’Perhaps being caught by this group was a blessing in disguise...’ he thought.

How did they manage to move to this area with slowed-time? To answer that, we need to go back a few minutes in time.

"I think I can make us move normally ahead," Rean spoke to his group, catching everyone’s attention.

"How?" Rifindio asked.

Rean pointed ahead at Grititi and the other groups. "Say, what is wrong about them? Or, to be more specific, what shouldn’t be happening right now?"

Royer and Elsie were completely puzzled. What shouldn’t be happening with those guys trapped in time? Well, being trapped in time is one obvious choice, but that definitely wasn’t what Rean meant. "Are you asking what shouldn’t be happening in a time slowed-down space?"

"Yes," Rean nodded.

Royer couldn’t send his Divine Sense, so he observed those trapped several kilometers ahead. He could see them perfectly, but still, he couldn’t figure it out.

He wasn’t the only one. Elsie, Rifindio, Kentucky, and Celis couldn’t tell what was wrong either.

Roan knew the answer, but that’s because he already received the answer through Rean’s memories. "Stop the suspense and just tell them, for fuck’s sake."

Rean shrugged. "As always, you are no fun. Just give them a minute, at least. We aren’t in a hurry anyway."

Rean took that opportunity and gave everyone a clue. "Aren’t you seeing them? Think about that."

"Ah!" Elsie was the first one to understand the problem there. "We are seeing them! How can we see them?!"

"We have our winner! Hahaha!" Rean laughed out loud.

Kentucky and Royer were still puzzled. "What are you talking about?"

Rean decided to explain. "Time is slowed down to a crawl around Grititi and those other groups. From the looks of it, Grititi would take years to take a single step forward. That means even light should have been slowed down. Since it is slowed down, we shouldn’t be able to see them this perfectly."

"After all, light has to reflect on their bodies and them back into our eyes. Even if some light is still coming from there due to its speed, we should, at the very least, see their bodies becoming hazy, darker, or even in a different color. Thus, one thing is guaranteed: Time is being slowed down ahead, but light isn’t."

Finally, everyone understood. "So that’s what shouldn’t be happening. We shouldn’t be able to see them nor the region ahead as well as we are at the moment."

"Exactly," Rean confirmed and walked ahead. "Since time isn’t affecting light, then I know exactly what to do to prevent time from slowing us down as well. Naturally, Light Element is also included in this result."

Then, his Light Element gathered, entering his and everyone else’s bodies. He was simply using his Light Aura skill but on a much, much lower scale. The Light Element circulated through every single cell of his group. There were no injuries to heal, nor was there enough Light Element to enhance anyone’s body. Nonetheless, there was light, and light couldn’t be slowed down.

"Still, one has to wonder," Rean spoke as he entered the area where Grititi ’stopped’ moving, "how did they stop the time power from affecting a single element? I know I definitely can’t do it. How about you, Royer?"

Royer shook his head. "If I could do such a thing, I might as well be a god."

Then, finally...

*Snap!*

Rean woke Grititi, and they continued their journey.
