Death… And Me

Chapter 3725: On the other side

Chapter 3725: On the other side

The Demon Beasts Formation was different, but the principles were the same. Hold the enemy back and warn the Demon Beasts if someone tries to attack and cross it.

One might be imagining why Rean didn’t rush inside through the Demon Beasts’ Gap after the armies broke the formation back there. Well, it was quite simple. The Divinity Realm experts didn’t join the battle. That was something that probably wouldn’t happen for a few days. Even the Divinity Realm Experts who had taken the front to attack the formation at the start immediately went to the back after the formation came down.

You wouldn’t use your best fighters at the start. To be honest, Rean was one of the very few Space-Time Realm Experts who stayed at the forefront when that part of the protection formation collapsed. Naturally, that was supposed to happen since he needed to be struck down, which happened.

That said, if Rean had tried to cross the gap in the Demon Beasts’ Formation and rushed inside, he would have been easily caught by the many Space-Time and Divinity Realm Experts of the Demon Beasts’ races. Even his Divine Sense Bending wouldn’t be enough to avoid being seen. Not to mention that the Natural Spatial Perceptions from the enemy would show his presence anyway.

Thus, after the battle started and he was ’hurt,’ he fled and is now in front of the formations of the Demon Beats, but far away from the battleground. Rean, Zangeshu, Sister Orb, and Tanxan worked together, using the already-made runes to work faster.

By modifying the runes that could be modified and making new ones for the runes they didn’t have, they managed to create the necessary runes to trick a small section of the formation in front of them.

*Zush, zush...*

Rean and Celis came out of the Dimensional Realm, and Rean used his Light and Divine Sense Bending to keep them hidden. Finally, Zangeshu and Tanxan came out as well, and they worked on the formation.

Celis focused on absorbing the energy, and the rest on replacing the runes. All the while, Sister Orb kept an eye out to see if the self-destruction runes weren’t going to explode.

’A war breaking out on both fronts, Demon Beasts against Humanoid Races, and Demon Beasts against Spirits. Billions and billions of deaths over such a huge Divine Realm. And yet, here we are, just trying to stay away from it all. Feels quite weird,’ Kentucky commented.

Rean shrugged. ’If Ratria and Ploto’s plan is feasible, we actually might join the Demon Beasts’ side to make sure they win and a Demon Beast becomes the next Universe Owner.’

’There is no need to think too much,’ Roan commented. ’Whether we intervened or not, this war was already going to happen. Just be ready to fly away from the border once we traverse the formation.’

’Okay.’ Kentucky nodded.

"And this should do it..." Zangeshu said, replacing one last rune.

As soon as he did that, the various runes they replaced activated. In fact, they were already activated, but only to replicate the functionality of the previous ones. Now, they were doing an extra job, and that was to make the formation think that it was still working just fine, while a gap actually just opened.

It wasn’t very big, nothing but a few meters. Nonetheless, that was more than enough for the twins’ group to go through.

Everyone returned to the Dimensional Realm, leaving only Rean and Kentucky outside. Yet, before entering the Demon Beasts’ Territories, Rean did one last thing.

*Zush!*

Forehel, the guy they had captured and knocked out, was left on the ground, in the gap between the formations of the humanoids and demon beasts. Rean then sent a little of his energy into the guy’s mind, smiling. "Thank you for the help, friend." Finally, Rean and Kentucky crossed the formation. The gap behind them also closed, and it was as if it had never existed in the first place.

Forehel finally woke up a few minutes later, holding his head and feeling dizzy. He looked around, and his eyes shot open. He checked his body, but couldn’t find any injuries. His cultivation was also fine, and there was no one around. He simply... appeared there. "This..."

Rean and Kentucky had already flown far away. They would never see Forehel again.

"So, the race Reliance told us to visit is the Obsidian Dreadoxes," Rean commented, checking the map in his CD. "They are on the Continent of Drantiy."

"How far from here?" Kentucky asked.

"Reliance said they are the closest Divine Demon Beasts. Or, at least, they are the closest Divine Demon Beasts that would recognize Frife-Ni’s Feather." Rean continued to check. "Well, Drantiy isn’t too far away, just twenty-three continents."

"Hum? That close?" Kentucky thought about it. "We don’t even need to look for teleport formations. It would be way better to simply use our Spatial Gates."

"I was thinking the same," Rean agreed with him. He then made a cutting motion, but just like before, the Spatial Gate didn’t open. "We are too close to the border, even if the Spatial Gate we are trying to open isn’t in the border’s direction."

Kentucky wondered. "Should we look for a Demon Beast city? Teleporting once or twice should bring us far enough. It’s just that there are bound to be very few. Demon Beasts rarely gather together in cities, after all."

Rean confirmed that in his CD. "Indeed. Flying at this speed will take us at least a week to reach the first one. Demon Beasts truly lag behind in this regard. You could say one of the reasons they took so long to gather to defend that position on the border was due to the lack of cities, and as a consequence, teleport formations. It was not just the lack of experts to fight."

"So... should we go there?" Kentucky asked.

"But of course!" Rean smiled in response. "You are a Minokawa, and one at the Space-Time Realm. You will have a free pass! Let’s go!"

"Eh?" Kentucky had his doubts. "Is it okay to show my identity there? Even if we are in the Demon Beasts’ Territories, I would still attract a lot of attention. Did you see? There wasn’t a single Minokawa on the Demon Beasts’ side in that battle back there."

"Hum..." Rean had to admit Kentucky’s words made sense. "Then just use my Body Transformation Skill to look like some other bird race and see if you can use the teleport formation... if there is one at all. As for the fee, we have plenty of Divine Stones, so it matters little."

"Cool!" Kentucky agreed with the plan. "Let’s go!"
