Death… And Me

Chapter 3763: The Destination

Chapter 3763: The Destination

Avoiding the spatial phenomenons he could and resisting those that he couldn’t, Roan made his way in the direction Kentucky continued to point at. Sometimes, Roan had to stop and try to cut open the space to see if he could open an exit. However, he wasn’t truly trying to open a Spatial Gate. He was only doing that so Kentucky could get a clear feel of that connection he felt.

Still, Roan flew nonstop for months, finding nothing. Not only that, but even now, no one could feel that connection that Kentucky insisted was there. Of course, that didn’t mean their group gave up thinking about other solutions. They even tried some of those, like trying to analyse those ancient runes and see if they could come up with a formation that could counteract their effects.

Unfortunately, nothing worked, which made sense if you think about it. If creating an opening from the inside to the outside was that easy, those runes wouldn’t have managed to stop the countless shadows in here for so many eons.

They also thought about trying to find a gap in space, just like the one they created when they opened the Spatial Gate. We are talking about an entire Universe, sure there was one or another expert who ignored the rules and tried to open a Spatial Gate as well, right?

Unfortunately, even if there was, they couldn’t detect where it would appear, so they could only keep an eye out with their Divine Senses in case such an opening appeared. Besides the control that the Light Idiots had over the Universe, their quasi mind control made the chances of finding such an opening very unlikely.

[Rean, Roan,] Sister Orb warned them. [The Light Element inside the Dimensional Realm is almost over. There is at most another two weeks of it to be used at this rate.]

Rean nodded, already with a plan in mind. "What the shadows fear most isn’t really my Light Element, but the Yang Energy, which is strongest when I use Light. However, there is still Fire, Lightning, and such elements, even if their concentration here is much smaller. I just can’t send them out through my connection with Roan like I do with Light. That said, I will send them out normally, and Roan will have to work with them on his own. That should buy us another week or two."

Roan accepted the idea but had his concerns. ’It will work temporarily. However, I’m not good with Yang Energy and Yang Energy-related elements other than Rean’s Light Element. That said, a week is probably my limit with those other options.’

Fortunately, the wait was over at that moment.

"There it is!" Kentucky’s voice echoed loudly.

Roan’s blank expression outside continued the same, but his mind worked in the direction Kentucky was pointing out. His Divine Sense spread, and far in the distance, behind several spatial storms and other spatial phenomenons, Roan saw something. ’What is that? A city?’

Rean narrowed his eyes. ’City? What are you talking about? It is obviously a fortress.’

’You two must be going crazy,’ Celis disagreed. ’What else does it look like if not a giant black tree?’

At that moment, they understood. They were looking at the same thing, but that thing had different shapes. There was only one thing in common: the fact that they were all black, just like the shadows.

’Kentucky, is the connection you were feeling coming from that place?’ Roan asked, not moving yet. Other than the shape-shifting place, he could also see countless shadows hovering around.

’Yes,’ Kentucky confirmed. ’It is definitely a spatial connection, giving the same sensation as those runes that are covering the fabric of space.’

Roan thought about it for a moment, an idea appearing in his mind. ’Perhaps it is one of those...’ he murmured to himself.

Still, Light Element wouldn’t last forever, so he flew forward, causing the shadows to open the way to avoid him. However, that wasn’t so easy this time. There were many, many more shadows with power equivalent to Elemental Space Realm experts around that place.

Naturally, they noticed Roan’s soul behind all that Light and Yang Energy, rushing over and plunging into his body. The system, obviously, worked straight away.

[Foreign force has attempted to invade Roan’s soul.]

[Neutralized.]

[Foreign force has attempted to invade Roan’s soul.]

[Neutralized...

[Roan,] Sister Orb warned. [There are too many again, but since the system had time to recover, it will hold for five minutes, maybe a little more. You have that long to enter that place and see if things are better there. Otherwise, turn around and get away. Also, if you fail to escape, make sure to destroy your body before the system gets overwhelmed.]

Roan didn’t need to hear that twice, and he shot forward with everything he had. Rean, too, helped how he could, sending way more Light Element and Yang Energy than he was doing so far. If it were for a short period of time, the extra expenditure wouldn’t make much of a difference in the remaining reserves of Light Element.

Roan arrived at the shape-shifting construction, looking for an entrance in the midst of the shadows. He wanted to bring his Scythes out and kill everything in front, but that would also alert the shadows’ hostility, and they would start to attack for real, which would be even worse.

Fortunately, the shape-shifting feature of that place didn’t seem to happen at close range. They noticed that it was just a trick being played on everyone’s Divine Senses, so they understood that relying on the Divine Senses wouldn’t do much good here.

The minutes passed, and Roan narrowed his eyes. Sister Orb kept him updated on the situation of the system’s processing power, and he knew he would have to turn away soon.

At the fourth minute, Roan finally gave up. He wanted to be safe and use the last minute to get away from this place. Then he would give the system enough time to cool down and try again. However...

’Over here! Quick!’

A voice echoed in Roan’s mind, a Soul Power message, and that definitely wasn’t anyone from the twins’ group.

’An intelligent shadow?’

Roan looked in the direction the message came from, surprised to see that thing calling him over.
