Chapter 3779: You Have Me
Chapter 3779: You Have Me
Xian was taken aback. ’Idea? What idea?’
’We are going to have you absorb the Shadow Energy of the last survivor,’ Roan explained. ’It should be enough for you to at least get closer to Level Two.’
’What?!’ Xian immediately grew afraid. ’I-I can’t do it... The shadow will definitely not let me do it without a fight, and I’m weaker! I don’t want to turn out like them!’
Rean smiled, already understanding Roan’s plan. ’Don’t worry, Xian. If it works, there will be no harm to your soul and mind.’
’But...’ Xian looked at the guys below. The problem was more than just the risks of becoming more like them. ’I don’t want to absorb another Umbra...’
’You are doing them a favor,’ Roan assured him. ’Look at them. At this rate, they will attack more Umbras to absorb their energy. Chances are that since the winner will be just a new Level Two, he will go to the borders and target the young ones, just like Calanti and Tissal did to you. Are you okay with that? They might have been nice Umbras before, but that is not the case anymore. This is your chance to end their misery and also stop them from doing something that perhaps they didn’t really want.’
Xian looked at Rean and Roan, two small shadowy eyes poking out of the shadow energy layers. ’Al...Alright!’
Roan nodded, and Rean crossed his arms. There was no need to make a move now. Since those Umbras chose this place to ambush the Level Two Umbra, they must be pretty confident that no other Umbra will intervene for a while.
They were right. That clash between the Umbras lasted hours upon hours. Yet, not a single Umbra appeared during that time. Well, even if another one appeared here by coincidence, the twins were ready to deal with the guy before he tried anything idiotic.
Soon, the alliances were dissolved, and only three Umbras remained. They fought to absorb each other, and surprisingly, the Umbra who had initially lured the Level Two Umbra to this place began to gain the upper hand. "Hahaha! Come, come! You thought I would be weak after I had to hold that Level Two Umbra for a long time, didn’t you? Yes, I was weak, but I’ve done this before, and I know how to bide my time to recover in the midst of this absorption chaos. Now, it is time for you all to be part of me!"
The other two Umbras cursed, joining hands again to fight against the guy. Too bad they were truly too weak now to fight back. The Umbra with the upper hand gained more and more, and not long after, another Umbra disappeared.
From there, it was a landslide, with the same Umbra quickly finishing off the last one. His Shadow/Emotional Energy spiked, and the twins saw for the first time what it looked like for an Umbra to go from Level One to Level Two.
’It’s that law again...’ Roan commented, narrowing his eyes.
Rean felt the same thing. ’Yes. All Umbras can control that law, but the power they can get from it increases depending on the level.’
Kentucky had an idea inside the Dimensional Realm. ’Could it be that law is related to the control of other laws?’
Rean and Roan’s attention was piqued as they waited for Kentucky to continue. ’I mean, they can’t really gather the laws like we do. Instead, they use their Shadow/Emotional Energy to do so. It could be that this special law is what makes the bridge that allows them to control the other laws.’
The twins considered Kentucky’s idea for a moment, agreeing with him at the end. ’You actually might be right here. Well, that doesn’t change the fact that we don’t know what law it is. But it is good to know what it is capable of.’
They watched as the cloud form of that Umbra got thicker, and the power he could bring out of the laws increased. Above all, he managed to merge two of the four sub-laws for each Major Law he had control over, an obvious sign of an Initial Stage Divinity Realm Expert.
Finally, his body stabilized again. He stood alone there, looking around and seeing how everyone else had completely disappeared. One Level Two and nine Level One Umbras. That was the price for his Level Up. "Hehe... Hahaha! I’ve done it! I’ve done it! I’m at Level Two!"
Xian heard that laugh, but his heart felt the pain hidden in that new Level Two Umbra (figuratively speaking). The Umbra still hasn’t covered his soul properly with his Shadow Energy, so Xian could feel it through the intentions. ’His mind is lost. Part of him, the crazy part, is thrilled with the gained power, but the other is crying for what he has done. Still, the crazy part is quickly overwhelming the sadness and taking over even more...’
Xian looked at the twins. ’Help me put an end, please...’
Roan nodded. ’I don’t care about his heart, but taking care of him is already part of the plan.’
Rean shrugged and didn’t say anything. Instead, he pulled his Elemental Intent Sword out while Roan did the same with his Scythe.
*Zush!*
The guy was pretty unstable after gaining that level, and didn’t feel anything until suddenly.
*Pft! pft!*
Both Rean and Roan’s Elemental Intent Weapons pierced his Shadow Body and hit his soul inside.
*Bzzz!*
There was a burst of Red Lightning, which almost wiped out the Umbra’s Soul. However, the soul didn’t collapse. It was close, but not enough to get there.
*Bzzz!*
Then, a cage of Red Lightning surrounded the Umbra, although there was no struggle. The twins’ first attack had pretty much destroyed the guy’s conscience. The Umbra could barely generate any thoughts whatsoever, let alone think about fighting.
"Alright, he is ready," Roan spoke. "Go ahead, Xian, absorb him. Don’t waste the Shadow Energy. Make sure you go all the way until he disappears."
"But..." Xian had his doubts. "His Shadow Energy will still be hostile. Even in this state, he will instinctively fight back and make his Shadow Energy dangerous. You need to be conscious and control yourself so your Shadow Energy doesn’t affect the one absorbing it."
"Don’t worry," Rean smiled. "The Shadow Energy won’t harm you. You have me here."
