Chapter 3794: Here Goes Nothing!

A few minutes later, Xian finally lost consciousness, so he was kind of a bunch of Shadow Energy attached to Kentucky now. Erxando was still good for the next thirty minutes, but after that, he too began to feel his mind growing slow. Sure enough, it didn’t take long for Erxando to follow in Xian’s steps, also losing his consciousness.

Just to make things easier, they had Erxando change his form and attach himself to Kentucky before that happened. Erxando happily obliged as he didn’t know what could happen further inside. At least he wouldn’t truly be dragged around with Divine Energy.

On Kentucky’s back, Rean and Roan looked forward. Kentucky flew deeper and deeper, and the Purple Light increased in intensity. It wasn’t to the point that it made them blind, though. They could protect their eyes with Divine Energy, after all.

By now, there weren’t any of those black spheres anymore. If anything, all they could see was emptiness. To make sure they were going in the right direction, Roan continued to try to open Spatial Gates, and every time the ancient runes blocked him, they could feel the connection of those runes going deeper into that place.

Things continued like that for the following hours, and so far, whatever caused the Umbras to lose their consciousness didn’t affect the twins’ group.

"I doubt any of the Umbras came this far," Kentucky commented, still following that connection.

’Sister Orb, can you identify what this dark purple light is?’ Rean took the chance to ask, as that light was everywhere.

[What I can say for sure is that it is not related to Divine Energy,] Sister Orb commented. [I’ve never felt it before either. Well, we also didn’t know emotions could be transformed into energy for the Umbras, so this light might be something similar. In fact, it most likely is something similar since they lose consciousness when getting close.]

Roan agreed with her, trying to gather that energy with his Divine Energy. When he used his Divine Energy to attack or touch the umbras, it worked, so perhaps it would work with the Dark Purple Light as well. Unfortunately, it wasn’t the case. "Maybe it isn’t. Can’t touch it with my Divine Energy."

"Hum?" Suddenly, Kentucky noticed something in the distance. "There is something further ahead."

It took a little longer for the twins to see what Kentucky was seeing since Kentucky had better sight. Nonetheless, they also saw it a few minutes later. It looked like a construction, but not a sphere like the black sphere outside. Instead, it was Dark Purple, and it had sharp corners.

Kentucky slowed down as he approached, and the construction shape made itself clear. It was an octahedron, an enormous one. Even though they could see it from their position, they were still a considerable distance away. You might also call it a bipyramid, essentially two pyramids with four sides that are glued together at their base. Of course, that was just how it looked, not that it was really the case.

The twins’ group checked their surroundings with their Divine Senses, but they were even more impaired in this place, only visible for a few hundred meters.

With their speed slowed down, it took another two hours before they finally got to the construction.

"There doesn’t seem to be anything willing to attack us here," Kentucky commented, floating right in front of it. If he extended his wing, he would touch the octahedron. "How is Xian?"

Rean kept a close eye on his soul. "This place doesn’t really cause any damage to the Umbras’ souls. He is truly just unconscious... No, that is not correct. To be more specific, this place inhibits the Umbras’ souls from working properly. I can see this Dark Purple Light getting in the way of the processes that allow their souls to work. To make an analogy, you could say that their ’soul channels’ are ’clogged’ with the Dark Purple Light, that’s all. That’s why they wake up straight away after leaving this place. No Dark Purple Light, no blockage."

"The analogy was shit, but we get it," Roan commented, getting up from Kentucky’s back and floating to the front of the construction.

Rean’s mouth twitched, but he ignored Roan and did the same. "Whatever. Hold onto each other and let’s touch this thing at the same time."

Then, making sure they wouldn’t be pulled apart, Rean, Roan, and Kentucky touched the octahedron. If there were some kind of teleportation or such, they would be gone together.

*Pin!*

At that moment, the system finally showed signs of life.

As the system’s words echoed in the twins’ minds, the Octahedron shone with intense Dark Purple Light, which seemed to transform into energy that poured into the twins’ group’s bodies.

"Shit!"

Rean, Roan, and Kentucky immediately tried to pull their hands and wing away, but they were stuck.

[Warning! Warning! Warning!]

[The system is being invaded. High risk of damage and impairment of system functions imminent.]

Things got serious, but they just couldn’t push themselves back.

"Fuck it!" Roan’s eyes turned dark, and his Elemental Intent Scythe appeared, three of them, controlled by his Divine Sense.

*Swish, swish, swish!*

Without thinking twice, Roan cut his and Rean’s hands as well as Kentucky’s wing.

They pulled away from the Dark Purple Construction in the next moment. At the same time, they used Rean’s Instant Recovery together with Roan’s nutrient pills and regrew their hands and wing.

Their eyes did not turn away from the construction, though. Whatever they did seemed to have activated that thing, and it was now moving.

The system didn’t stop with its warnings either.

[System is exposed. Deploying countermeasures. Isolating damaged parts.]

’Sister Orb, can’t you do something?’ Rean asked in a hurry.

[What do you think I’m trying to do?] Sister’s Orb’s voice echoed. [It’s corruption! Something is corrupting our system, some kind of energy.]

Roan immediately had an idea. ’Use my Dark Element. You are also connected to Rean and me, so it should be possible.’

[Right! In that case, I can also use Rean’s Light Element to protect the rest, too! Here goes nothing!]
