Death… And Me

Chapter 3796: There Was One More!

Chapter 3796: There Was One More!

Rean, Roan, and Kentucky had no time to pay attention to what was being said. Immediately, Kentucky tried to fly around that thing, but the octahedron monster flashed away like a ray of Dark Purple Light, appearing right in front of him.

"That shit is fast!" Kentucky said as he quickly pulled back.

The tentacles made of purple blocks shot at a speed even higher than Kentucky, coming straight at him.

*Grab!*

In a moment, they wrapped around Kentucky’s body as the octahedron monster opened his mouth, trying to swallow Kentucky whole.

’Red Death, Death Cross!’

Yet, Roan wouldn’t just watch as that happened. His Elemental Intent Scythes moved as Bright Red Lightning danced around them.

*swish, swish, swish!*

One attack, and the tentacles were cut before they could pull Kentucky inside. The monster was strong, but he still followed the same logic as the Umbras. The Dark Purple Energy it was made of was pure Yin, a perfect target for Rean’s Bright Red Lightning!

*Roar!*

The monster didn’t give up as its other tentacles shot forward once again. Not only that, more of the Dark Purple Light changed into Dark Purple Energy, creating more of those tentacles and sending them all against Kentucky and Roan.

Kentucky wouldn’t be taken by surprise by the monster’s speed again, though. He flew away, dodging everything he could while Roan got rid of the ones Kentucky couldn’t escape.

*Bang, bang, boom, boom, swish, swish, swish...*

’Kawa Blade Domain!’

As Kentucky fled, he activated his Domain, using the Feather Blades and the Feather Blade Intent to block more of the tentacles while the monster pursued. That relieved Roan of some of the pressure.

’Death World Domain!’

Roan followed by calling forth his own Domain. It was best at corroding the enemy’s Domains, which this monster didn’t seem to be using, but it still could darken the surroundings with Dark Element. That made Roan’s own movement technique even better.

Unknowingly, the monster began to get itself away from the core. The fact that Roan and Kentucky could destroy its tentacles only made it more enraged, and it gave it all to capture them.

Meanwhile, on Kentucky’s back, Rean observed the whole development, doing nothing so far. It was as if he wasn’t even there. Well, truth be told, Rean really wasn’t. That was none other than one of his Clones. That monster didn’t seem to have high intelligence. They couldn’t detect any Divine Sense from it either, so using the clone was quite good to fool it.

Back at the Octahedron-shaped Core, there was a feeble change near it as Light Element moved close. Even a Divinity Realm Peak Stage Expert would have a hard time noticing it.

Inside that Light Element, Rean faintly smiled while he watched Kentucky and Roan suffering as the monster pursued them. He was using his Light Bending Skill to stay hidden. Finally, he considered the distance to be good enough and moved to the crystal.

’I just need to touch the core, is it?’ Rean thought to himself as he extended his hand.

*Bzzz!*

However, a barrier suddenly materialized, made of the same Dark Purple Energy, preventing Rean from touching the core.

’Shit!’

As soon as Rean did that, the octahedron monster stopped pursuing Roan and Kentucky, turning around and looking in Rean’s direction. It couldn’t see anything there, but it was connected to that core, and it knew something was trying to touch it.

*Roar!

It gave up on Kentucky and Roan, shooting back at full speed. It was even faster than Kentucky, who only managed to stay away from it until no because of Roan’s help. So, it goes without saying that it would arrive back at the core in an instant, too.

’Stop playing! Just go for it for fuck’s sake!’ Roan bellowed inside Rean’s mind.

Rean knew Roan was right and cancelled his Light Bending Skill. Immediately, Rean connected to the Celestial Soul Realm and pulled out as much Light Element as possible, caring not for how much of it still remained. Kentucky and Roan were already at their limit after luring the monster away, and they wouldn’t be able to help anymore after that, so it was all up to Rean now.

Only a single Elemental Intent Sword appeared; it burst with Light Element and Red Lightning as Rean pointed forward.

’Red Life, Stellar Piercer!’

The evolution of the Death Style, First Form, Stellar Piercer! Well, it was basically the same skill but with Red Lightning instead... Nonetheless, when it came to targeting a single point, the Stellar Piercer remained the best option.

*BANG!*

*Bzzzzz!*

The Dark Purple Barrier trembled as all its energy concentrated at the precise location where Rean’s Sword Tip struck and pushed forward.

’Red Life, Enhancement!’

Rean gritted his teeth and braced himself for the backlash as Bright Red Lightning immediately flowed through his body. He could only use it for one or two seconds, maybe a few more if he didn’t care about the damage his body would receive.

However, Rean went beyond, using much more than his body could usually take. His skin burned, his muscles tore apart, and even his meridians seemed to be about to burst with all that tyrannical Red Lightning.

*Crack, crack, crack...*

Cracks spread in the Dark Purple Barrier. At the same time, the monster arrived, its tentacles shooting in Rean’s direction. The monster had no intention to eat Rean. It attacked with full force, so it would blast Rean apart with its attack.

*BOOM!*

Rean’s sword broke through the Dark Purple Barrier, but before he could move to touch the core, he was hit by the tentacles, which were made of those hard, dark purple blocks. At the impact, almost all his bones broke instantly, contributing to his already deplorable situation. In the following fraction of a second, Rean’s body couldn’t resist anymore, breaking apart into several smashed pieces that shot in several directions.

In the end, Rean didn’t manage to touch the core. Roan and Kentucky arrived in the next second, but the monster already turned in their direction, all its tentacles changing target.

"Shit!" Kentucky didn’t think twice and turned around again. Roan understood they had no chance of approaching the core anymore, so he focused on defending.

It was necessary for Rean or Roan to touch the core, but Rean had already had his body destroyed, while Roan had no chance of approaching that with the monster in the way. A clone would not be enough here either.

The monster succeeded in protecting the core... or did it?

*Zush!*

As the monster moved after Roan and Kentucky, one last player entered the scene, a perfectly smooth one with a mix of light and dark colors, and spherical to a fault.

[Unbelievable, I always have to do all the work around here.]

Sister Orb herself came out!
