Chapter 3912: The Chance That Never Came
Chapter 3912: The Chance That Never Came
"Are you still sulking?" Rean, now back in the Verjansy Country, asked Trian.
Trian now knew Rean wasn’t who he looked like, so he had a hard time coming to terms with that. "Who the hell is sulking? Just don’t expect me to be all friendly with you anymore. Our worlds are too different."
Rean didn’t deny that. "Well, if you train hard, my world will eventually be your world too. You received everything necessary to make it happen during these years with me. Anyway, leaving that aside, the Verjansy Country will teleport a lot of its most important members out of the Green Cluster. Have you been approached about this?"
Trian didn’t answer. "I’m not allowed to answer it."
The moment he spoke, Rean flashed in front of him, a finger on his forehead. Trian got a scare and jumped back. It truly was almost as if Rean teleported there. "What are you doing?!"
"Check it again," Rean spoke.
Trian felt momentarily lost, but then he realized something important. He had also signed the same Soul Binding Contract that the country had made Wisfreya sign. The knowledge that a few of the most significant members of both the young and older generations were being extracted could not be revealed yet. However, Rean rendered that contract ineffective against Trian by simply touching his head for an instant. "You can do that?" Trian asked in surprise.
Rean smiled in response. "It is nothing that surprising. The contract used for you wouldn’t be able to hold you back once you reach the Void Tempering Realm. I just accelerated things a little. So, have you been approached or not?"
Trian rubbed his forehead, still somewhat angry. "Yes, I have. But I refused."
"So you did, uh?" Rean wasn’t surprised. "Is it because of your father and the Enrel City?"
"What else would it be?" Trian answered as a matter of fact. "I’m not leaving them behind. The reason I’m here is to bring honor to my father back home."
"Are you sure it isn’t because you want to show your brothers who is the best one?" Rean smiled when he asked.
Trian looked away. How could Rean not know this? They were pretty close friends until just a few weeks ago. "That doesn’t mean I hate them..."
Rean shrugged and didn’t insist. "This is ultimately your decision. I’m not forcing you. Just know that I will be leaving. In any case, even if you had come with me, I wouldn’t have been able to take care of you for long. My only intention was to bring you to a safer place where you could grow and thrive on your own. We likely would never see each other again after that."
Rean then walked to the door of Trian’s room, preparing to leave. "From what Wisfreya said, the formation will be activated in a week. If I were you, I would take it. There is no honor to be gained if you are dead, after all." Finally, he left, leaving an annoyed Trian behind.

Three days later, in the Celestial Soul Dimensional Realm, Wisfreya was back on the chair where she used to have her blood taken. Even in this situation, the deal they had wouldn’t be broken. "Say, Rean, three days ago, Roan said something about the Green Cluster’s only chance of survival not materializing. I didn’t pay much attention back then. What chance was that?"
"Oh, that? You probably can imagine it on your own if you think a little bit," Rean answered, preparing to take the blood.
Wisfreya narrowed her eyes. "I have a few ideas, but I want to hear it from you."
Rean didn’t mind. "Trian actually asked me the same thing that day I gathered you to tell the news. It’s just that you left before he asked the question. Anyway, if the Green Cluster wanted to survive, the only way was to receive help. This help would need to come from far away from the Green Cluster Alliance surroundings. So, you can imagine the difficulty in making such a thing happen."
He continued. "I’m not sure if the top powers of the Green Cluster Alliance even tried it or not. After all, what kind of benefits and payments would be necessary to acquire enough allies to help defend the Green Cluster?"
"There is a good chance that even if the Green Cluster had the resources needed to pay for everything, they would rather give up and flee with what they have. Simply put, regardless of whether they are traitors or those who just want to flee, the big powers would have a better chance starting somewhere else with the resources they saved than using them to defend."
Wisfreya thought of the possibilities, but she truly couldn’t see it happening. "There are too many variables..."
"There are," Rean nodded. "In the end, it all comes down to whether you care enough about this place or not. Truth be told, the Green Cluster is so much more abundant than the powers attacking it that I believe they definitely have enough resources to pay for said allies. Otherwise, Roan would have never said something like ’the only chance of the Green Cluster’s Survival really didn’t materialize.’
"Roan is the best of us when it comes to those things, so even if he didn’t say it directly, he most likely believes those resources exist. Well, at least they existed, since they are probably all being moved out at this very moment. Your Verjansy Country is no exception. Isn’t Bugel sending you out together with a bunch of other trustworthy government officials? They are definitely taking a lot of the riches that can be moved with them once we teleport away."
"So, simply put, the Green Cluster top powers didn’t consider it worth spending too much to defend this place, especially since there was no guarantee of success," Rean concluded.
Rean couldn’t help but think about it for a moment. It wasn’t often that his group watched things developing from the sidelines without having the power to intervene. Usually, they were thrown in the middle of the chaos, and there were even quests created to make sure they wouldn’t try to avoid it.
Rean then shook his head. "So, there you have it. That’s what you could call the Green Cluster’s only chance of survival."
Wisfreya understood and no longer insisted on that topic. "Very well. Just go ahead and extract the blood so we can be free in the following days."
Rean did as she asked, and the blood was quickly sent to the Pristine Elemental Liquid Pool. Once done, Wisfreya once again took a vial of Kentucky’s blood, the one Kentucky purposely deactivated his bloodline so as never to cause a mutation to Wisfreya’s one. Looking at it, Rean was quite satisfied.
"Well, it isn’t all bad news, at least for you. The vials of blood you are taking from Kentucky can’t cause any mutations to your bloodline. But since Kentucky’s blood is ridiculously much stronger than yours, your Luminous Aether Dragon Bloodline is actually getting stronger as a result. Don’t get me wrong, it is still the same bloodline as before, but you should get better results from it every time you use its power as time goes on."
Wisfreya looked at her hand, not feeling surprised. "So it wasn’t just me thinking it, uh? I did notice that I was getting better and better way too fast. Just what kind of bloodline does Kentucky have? Even in its deactivated state, it can bring such huge benefits..."
"That I will leave up to your imagination," Rean said, patting the girl’s head.
