Death… And Me

Chapter 3946: Peak Celestial Bodies

Chapter 3946: Peak Celestial Bodies

Ximao also contacted the formations masters in charge of protecting the academy, telling them they might see someone taking a look at the artifact. That it was someone he called over to check if it was working fine after being repaired all those years ago.

Roan closed his CD, pondering a bit. It wasn’t like he had never talked to Ximao ever since that event with the Golden Echo. His group kept ’improving’ by leaps and bounds, so it obviously amazed everyone in the academy. It was especially so considering they didn’t receive any extra resources, since the twins’ group decided to remain neutral.

However, the times his group spoke with Ximao were during public events, such as internal competitions, gatherings, visits, and the like. Ximao had never contacted them directly. The thing that made it weirder was that he asked the twins’ group to come to him through secret passages so no one would know about the meeting. Even more, he made it seem urgent, and those in his group who were in the middle of missions had to cancel and return straight away.

[Roan...] Sister Orb called his attention. [There is something wrong. I’ve had plenty of time to slowly hack into the formations of the Academy without being detected during these fifty years. Just a few moments ago, someone passed through them as if they didn’t even exist. Yet, I couldn’t detect who it was at all. If not for the clues I noticed, even I would have missed it, let alone the Academy’s Formations Masters.]

Roan narrowed his eyes in response. "And we just received this order to go see Ximao as soon as possible once we are all together."

The twins’ group had their cultivations suppressed, and with their superior souls, even the Divinity Realm experts in the academy couldn’t see through it. However, that didn’t mean they risked getting too close to them.

They even ignored the secret contacts and offers they received, some saying they could become direct disciples of those Divinity Realm experts. How could they accept such a thing? Not only did they not need it, but the risk wouldn’t be worth it either. Their suppression wasn’t 100% foolproof.

In any case, they couldn’t just ignore the principal’s orders, so Roan waited for Celis, Rean, and Kentucky to arrive. From there, they left the Celestial Soul Dimensional Realm and went to the secret passage in the academy mentioned by Ximao.

There were a few subordinates from Ximao waiting, and they made it look like the twins had some job to do. Instead, they took them to a hidden teleport formation, transferring only the twins’ group to Ximao’s residence a moment later.

Just like Ximao said, the twins’ group arrived at the end of the day. The residence was empty; not a single worker could be seen inside the twins’ Divine Senses.

’Come here,’ Ximao was there, of course. He told them where they should go. They followed the instructions, walking through the residence and moving to the living room. However, before they arrived, they felt something stirring in their souls.

The four of them stopped, raising their guards. Just now, the stored Celestial Laws inside their souls reacted to whatever was ahead. That had only happened once, back when they met Victor Rampel, the same guy who masked their outsider traits. All they knew was that Victor was even above the Celestial Realm Experts, but nothing more than that. (Chapter 3682)

At that moment, another voice echoed in their minds through Divine Sense. ’Come to the living room, or die there where you are. It’s up to you.’

A powerful pressure assaulted their bodies, and especially their souls. It wasn’t an attack, it didn’t cause any harm, so the System didn’t activate. Still, it made things clear just how big a gap there was between them and the being ahead.

They all looked at Roan, who nodded. ’Let’s check it out.’

Finally, the twins’ group entered the living room, only to see Ximao with a bitter smile on his face while seated on one of the sofas. On the opposite side, there was a woman wearing a red dress. Her presence there wasn’t what took the twins’ group by surprise, but the fact that they couldn’t see her through any other means.

She did not appear in their Natural Spatial Perception.

She did not appear in their Divine Senses, even though the twins’ souls are as strong as Divinity Realm Peak Stage experts.

She did not appear in their Soul Power Scans.

Rean couldn’t feel the power of Life or Yang coming from her.

Roan couldn’t feel the power of Death or Yin coming from her.

If not that she was right in front of them, and the pressure she exerted was terrifying, they might have thought they were seeing an illusion. Was she part of the environment? Was she just the air in the room itself? It certainly felt like it.

Naturally, the woman was Caladara. She checked the twins’ group from head to toe. Then...

*Ziu!*

Out of nowhere, four rays of Golden Light shot from her finger, aiming straight at the Rean, Roan, Kentucky, and Celis. Neither of them could do anything. It wasn’t that they didn’t want to dodge, but that they couldn’t. It was too damn fast, even for them. In fact, even if they were back at their peak as Divinity Realm experts, they still wouldn’t have been able to dodge those four rays of Golden Light.

*Puct, puct, puct, puct...*

The golden rays pierced their bodies. In the twins’ case, it was their heads, exactly where the soul should have been. For Kentucky and Celis, it was where their cores should have been and naturally, their souls. Four holes were left behind, and their bodies fell to the ground. If it were anyone else, they would have died instantly.

Well, of course, the twins’ group has the Body Reformation ability, which would rebuild their bodies and souls if that were the case. It wasn’t necessary at the moment, though.

None of their souls could be found where Caladara hit them anymore. Or, to be more specific, they could, but only tiny parts of them. Their entire bodies were their souls, their souls were their entire bodies, so those holes could have been anywhere else, and it wouldn’t have made much of a difference.

Ximao didn’t know that, so he panicked for a moment. "No! Why did you do that?!"

"Shut up, idiot!" Caladara rebuked, looking at those four. "Stop pretending and get up already. Or do you want me to completely erase your bodies?"

’Life Style, Instant Recovery!’

Sure enough, those holes quickly closed, and the twins’ group got up again. They all looked at the woman, understanding that any pretense here was meaningless. Their suppression could hide their cultivation from the Divinity Realm experts protecting this academy, including Ximao. But in front of that woman, that was just a joke. Even worse, she saw through them in a second and knew that they didn’t have the same kind of soul as everyone else.

"Eh?!" Ximao was shocked by that scene. But then, he remembered something. "Wait, could it be... No way! Peak Celestial Bodies!"

Yes! Rean, Roan, Kentucky, and Celis had Celestial Souls and Bloodlines. Yet, hearing Ximao’s words, they now understood something else. Most likely, real Celestial Realm Experts have bodies similar to their own, bodies without Dantians or Cores. That was news for them.

They kept their calm, their full attention on Caladara. "So... who are you?"
