Death… And Me

Chapter 4169: Helping a Clouded Mind

Chapter 4169: Helping a Clouded Mind

Thomas gritted his teeth. Things were already very disadvantageous to his group, and now this dragon appeared. It didn’t seem to care who was fighting whom, just rampaging through them all.

He tried to look into his CD, but there was still no connection to the Werdlem Empire. He told one of the guys who fled earlier to call the Werdlem Empire about these events as soon as possible, but that would depend on how long it would take for that guy to get the Werdlem Signal back.

*Zush!*

Roan passed by Hick, shouting at him. "There she is. Now, do something. I’m going to hold the guys from the Werdlem Empire down. Her mind is more or less clouded due to how long she had been held asleep here, so try to put some effort into bringing her back. Alright, I’m off."

Hick felt like crying. Nonetheless, he quickly acted and moved to block Aurethra, his boundary ability creating a closed zone for the two of them.

*Bang!*

Aurethra didn’t notice the boundary straight away due to her clouded mind, smashing into it. She quickly looked around, and only now did she notice the origin. "Hick, open this piece of shit right now!"

Hick truly couldn’t recognize the Pillar of Recurrence anymore. "Aurethra, calm down! Look around you, what do you see?!"

Aurethra narrowed her eyes. "Why should I care?"

Hick continued. "But you should care! It’s Nyxara, Soltrex, and me! Get a hold of yourself! We are the Primordial Demon Beasts, and you have been held against your will in this place until now. Try to remember the day we came to the Werdlem Empire."

*Ugh...*

Aurethra felt a pain in her head. Roan wasn’t wrong when he said her awareness was clouded. He forced her to wake up just a moment ago, a wakening after countless years of a quasi-awakened state.

"No!" Still, Aurethra turned in Roan’s direction. "I must kill that guy! Do you know what he did to me? What he said? Everything else can wait!"

"Shit!" Hick was going to keep taking, but suddenly rushed outside his boundary, and at the same time, Soltrex entered it with his help. Hick had to go out because some of the Celestials of the Werdlem Empire couldn’t be kept away, so he left to prevent them from intervening.

"Aurethra, you always said that we have to look at the bigger picture with calm. Let me ask you, are you doing that right now? Are you calm?" Soltrex asked.

Aurethra paused again, and the memories began to come back. At the same time, her clouded state began to lift a little, and the events of the past surged like a wave.

*Dummmm...*

Out of nowhere, the void distorted in front of Aurethra, and from inside, a voice echoed. "Aure... you helped me improve my Void Warping. You looked at it carefully and spent thousands of years by my side until I mastered it. I’m sure you can recover from this!"

Aurethra recognized the power of the void and the voice. "Nyxara..."

Not far from there...

’Death Style, Reversive Arcs!’

’Red Death, Dragon Claws!’

*Swish, swish, swish, swish...*

*Boom!*

*Arrrghhh!*

Roan’s Crystal Void Scythes cut through another one of the Celestials with ease, this one not a \balance Breaker, as he joined Cloe and plunged the other enemies into despair.

As for Cloe, she felt like Roan was challenging her. "Hahaha! Do you think you can take more of them down than I can? I already got one, and I’m about to finish this guy here now!"

Roan ignored her, his eyes narrowing. Things were taking too long. Hick’s boundaries to prevent communication with the Werdlem Network could only go so far. The enemies who fled early are likely out of it already and are contacting the Werdlem Empire. That’s not even mentioning that each death here is a Soul Flame extinguished, so the Werdlem Empire should have noticed things going wrong anyway.

"Cloe, try to hold the rest here."

Cloe was taken aback. "Didn’t you come to help?"

Roan ignored her again, much to her annoyance. "This guy isn’t very good at communication, is he?"

Kentucky and Rean, who were also fighting, couldn’t help but nod vigorously, and Aurethra wasn’t even talking to them.

Roan turned around, shooting back to the boundary where Hick held Aurethra. As soon as he arrived, he saw that the dragon seemed to be in some pain. Roan could tell why. Hick and the others were doing a great job with Aurethra’s clouded mind. It’s just that they couldn’t wait much longer.

"Aurethra!" Roan shouted from outside the boundary.

Aurethra immediately recognized the voice; the rage on her face returned, and she looked back at Roan. "You!"

Roan didn’t stop. "Enough with your bullshit! You should have noticed your situation by now, even if your mind isn’t completely back to normal yet. If you want to get revenge, you need to first escape this place before the Werdlem Empire arrives. However, you are the one who controls all the Soul Energy from the Dead Souls, the one who stopped reincarnation, and you are still mentally attached to those processes. You must cut yourself away from it. If not, we will have to leave you here. There will be no revenge nor anything else. You will simply be put to sleep again. Is that what you want?"

Aurethra’s face seemed to contort as she processed Roan’s words. They were obviously working.

Then...

*WuuuWuuwuuwuwuwuuuu...*

All the dead souls below began to scream together. No, that wasn’t all. They began trying to free themselves from their hanging positions. As that happened, the Reincarnation Path seemed to react, and many of those souls quickly disappeared one after another.

Roan faintly smiled. It was obvious to him and the others that Aurethra was calling back her Recurrence Innate ability, which was blocking the Reincarnation Path’s normal working process.

*Zush!*

Roan then entered the boundary, which prompted Hick to shout from outside. "I can’t do anything if she decides to attack you!"

Roan didn’t care. He stopped in front of Aurethra, his expression serious. "Just stop for a moment and think. What I did helped you awake. I obviously didn’t mean what I said since I don’t even know you. Now, do you want to leave this place or not? I’ll hear all your complaints once we are out."

*Roar!!!*

Aurethra’s roar could be heard far and wide, but she did not attack. If anything, her eyes looked a lot clearer now. "W-What do I have to do?"

Roan touched one of her scales, looking like nothing but a spec of dust in front of the dragon. "Don’t fight back. I’ll pull you out. Even if you don’t trust me, you can definitely trust the other Primordial Demon Beasts, can’t you?"

Aurethra’s eyes moved in Hick, Soltrex, and Nyxara’s directions, and they all nodded at her. She decided to go with it. "Fi-Fine!"

Roan faintly smiled, and the power of space gathered all around Aurethra.

*Vup!*

Finally, the enormous dragon disappeared without a trace. Roan sent Aurethra into the Celestial Soul Dimensional Realm!

But then...

*Rumble!!!*

Golden Power once again appeared in the surroundings, and the pressure alone made the twins’ group sweat coldly! As everyone expected, reinforcements arrived!

"Gather!" Roan shouted, making Cloe, Hick, Soltrex, and Nyxara gather around him.

"Where do you think you are going?!" A voice echoed everywhere, a powerful blast of Golden Power came from all directions. It was even stronger than Caladara’s!

Roan recognized that voice. Everyone did. It was Soza, and he wasn’t alone!

However, Roan wasn’t worried. "A step too late, Soul Gem’s father-in-law."

*Vup, vup, vup, vup, vup...*

The twins’ group didn’t give the Golden Power the chance to scramble the space around them, instantly disappearing inside the Celestial Soul Dimensional Realm. In a fraction of a second, the twins connected to Celis and completely disappeared from within the Reincarnation Path!

An instant later, Soza appeared, together with another two experts who seemed to have the same level of cultivation as him! "Where the hell did they go?!"
