Chapter 4529: Disciple
Chapter 4529: Disciple
Kentucky was brought into the Rosvelt Sect’s main building by the guides, where he was then registered in their system as a new disciple. The sect actually had its own internal network, although it obviously wasn’t anywhere near as advanced as the systems used by Besgol and the other Regions. So far, nothing particularly out of the ordinary happened...
...if not for the fact that Elder Kabriu hadn’t left Kentucky’s side even once during the entire process. He seemed determined to personally oversee every step, almost as if he were afraid Kentucky might suddenly disappear before he could officially claim him.
"Errr..." Kentucky scratched the back of his head, looking at Kabriu after receiving his Sect Badge. "Se-Senior Kabriu, is something wrong?"
Kabriu leaned forward, his expression terrible. "Do you have any idea what kind of mouthful I’m going to receive once I report the results of my test?"
Kentucky bitterly smiled. "Should I... have held back during the test?"
"Bullshit!" Kabriu exclaimed. "If you had done that, I would have taken your head!"
Kentucky was completely lost. Kabriu was angry because Kentucky had done too well, but he was also saying he wouldn’t have accepted it if Kentucky had deliberately held back. The logic was becoming increasingly difficult for Kentucky to follow. "I’m confused."
Kabriu’s expression turned even worse, and he seemed to be struggling to keep his temper under control. Finally, he pointed at Kentucky. "There is no helping it. From now on, you are my direct disciple!"
"Ehhhh?" Kentucky was taken aback. How did he even get to that conclusion? "But our cultivation isn’t all that different, you know?"
"Are you saying you are too good for me?" Kabriu narrowed his eyes dangerously.
"Uh? Err... No, that’s not it..." Kentucky hurriedly said while trying to think of some excuse.
Truth be told... yes, Kentucky did think Kabriu wasn’t good enough for him. But then again, who wouldn’t, when you had someone like Roan in your group? Compared to the twins, Celis, and the countless experts Kentucky had encountered throughout their journey, Kabriu’s strength and understanding were nothing particularly impressive. Still, Kentucky wasn’t foolish enough to say that out loud. There was no reason to offend his newly acquired master for no benefit whatsoever.
"Then that’s decided," Kabriu nodded. "You managed to injure me pretty badly, and it is still hurting even now. Someone with such potential would only be able to flourish under the hands of a great master like me. Well, under my wings, to be more precise. I don’t want to brag, but I, too, possess great talent, and no one doubts that I’m going to become a Law God sooner or later."
’Just how many times has someone from our group become someone’s disciple by now?’ Kentucky thought to himself. It certainly happened a lot since their journey together began.
At this point, he was starting to wonder if becoming someone’s disciple had simply become an unavoidable part of the twins’ group’s lives. Rean and Roan had both been involved in similar situations many times before, and now Kentucky was apparently following the same path, and it wasn’t the first time for him either.
Kentucky pondered for a moment and decided to take advantage of the situation. It might be helpful to have a higher-ranked master, after all. Even if Kabriu wasn’t remotely comparable to the experts Kentucky already knew, having an elder as his master could make certain investigations considerably easier.
"Since that’s the case... can I have a companion follow me who isn’t part of the Rosvelt Sect? Like a helper or something like that. I can see the sect has many workers who aren’t actually part of the sect, so it shouldn’t be a big deal, right?"
Those words immediately reminded Kabriu of when Kentucky had asked to wait until his friend finished the test. "Oh, is it the one from before?"
"Yes!" Kentucky nodded.
"Very well." Kabriu didn’t see any problem with it. "As you noticed, such a thing is indeed fairly common here. There are quite a few good benefits available to the helpers of official disciples, so many cultivators apply to become helpers when they know they don’t have the necessary talent to become disciples themselves."
"Great!" Kentucky was happy to hear that. "I’m taking my leave now. I want to find her and bring her inside to register as my personal helper."
"Wait," Kabriu stopped him. "Even though helpers can be accepted, it can’t just be anyone. This friend of yours must at least have some capabilities. What’s your friend’s cultivation? I don’t think the sect will accept any Anchor Gods as helpers. They aren’t of much use."
"Oh! Then that’s not a problem. She is a Middle Stage Zone God, after all," Kentucky assured him.
Kabriu froze.
He stared at Kentucky for a moment, wondering if he had somehow misheard him. "Did you say your friend is a Zone God?"
"Well, yes. Is that a problem?" Kentucky asked back.
Kabriu found the situation increasingly strange. "Why would a Zone God willingly become the helper of an Aura God? Even if you are part of our sect, doesn’t this Zone God Friend of yours have any pride? No, wait! Are you sure your friend isn’t trying to fool you? You can share your resources with your helper, but you won’t get anything extra from the sect to make up for the resources you give to this friend, you know? Whatever you receive is what you will have to work with."
"Oh, don’t worry!" Kentucky didn’t really care about the sect’s resources anyway. "We often go out to hunt, so we can get our own resources."
"If you say so..." Kabriu didn’t inquire any further. He still found the situation strange, but it wasn’t his place to interfere with Kentucky’s personal relationships. "Then go and bring your helper in quickly. I will introduce you to the other elders of the same rank as me so they know who you are from now on. After that, I’m going to revise your cultivation technique and training. Then I’ll assign you the missions I think will be best for your development. You have a long road ahead of you. I want you to become a Zone God in at most two hundred years."
If only Kabriu knew how much faster Kentucky would actually cultivate... Kentucky wasn’t going to tell Kabriu that.
Instead, Kentucky quickly made his way toward the sect entrance, where Kachia was already waiting for him. Naturally, he contacted her through the RC. However, no one inside the Rosvelt Sect knew that the twins’ group had access to such a device, so there was no need for Kentucky to worry about exposing anything.
After showing his Sect Badge, Kentucky managed to bring Kachia inside and have her registered as his personal helper. Her access to the sect’s facilities was pretty much completely restricted, though. She wouldn’t be able to use them in the same way Kentucky could, but neither she nor Kentucky really cared about that. They weren’t here to enjoy the sect’s benefits in the first place.
"Alright... we made it into this sect," Kachia said, looking at Kentucky. "What now? Can you sense that so-called special energy you talked about?"
Kentucky shook his head in response. "No, but we will have plenty of time to investigate. For now, you should come with me. My so-called master is going to keep me busy for a while, and it will be better if you are there as well. Oh, and he said he wanted to check you out."
"Check me?" Kachia thought about it for a moment. "I guess it makes sense. I’m a Zone God while you are an Aura God, after all."
"That’s exactly what he pointed out," Kentucky agreed. "Anyway, let’s go."
At the same time, Kentucky contacted Sister Orb through their connection. ’I’m in the Rosvelt Sect now. Pay attention to see if you can find the Goslau Great Void Echo in here.’
[Uh? Oh! Yes, I’ll pay attention later. I’m busy here now.]
Indeed, Sister Orb was busy.
After all, she was still checking the Dimensional Realm of the Womb together with Celis and Roan. There was no way she could simply abandon that investigation in the middle of it just because Kentucky had entered another important location.
Kentucky couldn’t help but smile at Sister Orb’s response before following Kabriu deeper into the sect. He had officially become a disciple of the Rosvelt Sect, acquired a powerful elder as his master, and brought Kachia inside as his personal helper.
Things seemed to be going surprisingly smoothly.
