Death… And Me

Chapter 4532: Plain Sight

Chapter 4532: Plain Sight

’Good!’ Rean nodded.

Then, Rean turned his attention back to Antohio. "Friend Antohio, I need to take my leave for a few hours. Will you still be here later?"

Antohio, who had been learning from Rean about his array methods, obviously didn’t like hearing that. The opportunity to study Rean’s techniques was extremely valuable to him, and he didn’t want to waste the time they had together. "Can’t you leave it for later?"

"I can’t." Rean shook his head and began making his way out of the repository. "But I’ll definitely be back."

Once outside the room, Rean met Flugel waiting there. "Meanwhile, you have my subordinate here to teach you more about my array methods. He also knows them quite well."

Flugel narrowed his eyes and talked to Rean through the RC. ’Why are you leaving all of a sudden?’

’Some issues came up with Roan,’ Rean explained. ’In any case, you and Lukay won’t be of much help with this particular problem. Also, you’re here to learn about their arrays, right? So this is your chance to get more information from Antohio while I’m gone. Just use the carrot and the stick.’

Flugel glanced toward Antohio and then nodded. ’Fine. Don’t take too long.’

At the Thousand Script Sect, Thery’s group was now taking their time looking through the history of the sect and everything they knew about their race. They had already gathered quite a bit of information, but there was still much more to examine, especially considering how long the sect had existed and how much history had been preserved within it.

"Arcis, Thery, I need to go out for a while. If you need something, you know how to reach me."

Since Arcis and Thery could ask anything they needed through their connection with him, Celis didn’t have to remain there and wait for them. After giving them those instructions, he simply left.

Meanwhile, Kentucky was feeling pretty helpless as he stood in a huge meeting hall inside the Rosvelt Sect. Various Zone Gods and even a few Law God elders of the sect could be seen there. Kentucky had been forced to compliment practically every single one of them together with Kabriu, something that was quickly becoming exhausting despite his best efforts to maintain a respectful expression.

This meeting hall was where the high-echelon members of the sect often gathered, including the Sect Master. When Kabriu had said that he was quite well regarded within the sect, he truly hadn’t been joking. Kabriu’s prospects were obviously part of the reason he was treated so well.

However, the biggest reason was that Kabriu’s mother... was one of the Law Gods of the sect, and she was currently there to hear all about her son taking Kentucky as a disciple. Naturally, Kentucky could feel that her attention had been on him for quite some time.

"So this is the Minokawa who put that hole in your back, huh?" Kabriu’s mother asked as she looked straight at Kentucky, a visible interest appearing in her eyes. Her gaze briefly moved over Kentucky’s body as if trying to figure out exactly how someone at his cultivation level had managed to cause such an injury to her son.

"Mother, he is my disciple, not yours!" Kabriu immediately complained.

"What is yours is also mine, so what’s the difference?" Kabriu’s mother asked with a smile, clearly enjoying her son’s reaction.

That only made Kabriu angrier. "That will not do! Come, Kentucky. There are still a lot of elders and high elders for you to meet now that you’re my disciple."

"You joined the sect at a good time. Tonight will be the monthly gathering where the sect discusses the various things that happened in Dlaval during this month, which is why you can already see so many elders gathered here."

Kachia couldn’t help but comment in a low voice, "Should I have come with you at all?"

Kentucky bitterly smiled. He had a feeling that this meeting was going to become much more troublesome than he had expected. "Ahem, Master Kabriu, didn’t you want to talk to Kachia? You asked me to bring her when I met you here."

"Oh, right." Kabriu stopped and looked toward the female Arctic Arcurio.

But before he could start the conversation, Kentucky quickly came up with an excuse. "You two talk for a bit. I need to go outside for a moment."

"Eh?!" Kachia clearly didn’t expect that. She wasn’t even a disciple of the sect, so she couldn’t understand why Kentucky suddenly wanted to leave her alone with Kabriu.

Kabriu didn’t like the idea either. "No can do! There are still too many elders for you to meet."

"Ahem..." Kentucky moved closer to Kabriu and lowered his voice. "It’s a stomach-related issue... I’m reaching my limit here."

Kabriu’s mouth twitched. Was that supposed to be an excuse? What kind of cultivator suffered from stomach problems? With their bodies having long surpassed the limits of ordinary mortals, such an excuse sounded ridiculous enough that he couldn’t help wondering if Kentucky was simply trying to escape the gathering. "Are you kidding me?"

"Definitely not, Master!" Kentucky countered immediately. "I’m a Minokawa. I eat a lot of metals because of my bloodline. Sometimes... things don’t go down too well."

Kabriu narrowed his eyes. He found that explanation incredibly difficult to believe, but he also couldn’t completely rule it out considering Kentucky’s unique bloodline. "You have ten minutes. I need to finish introducing you before the meeting starts later. You obviously can’t be here in the meeting hall when that happens."

"Understood!" Kentucky replied immediately, before flashing away at his fastest speed.

Kachia, on the other hand, felt like she was being sacrificed. It was obvious that Kabriu had a lot of doubts about her intentions toward his new disciple, and Kentucky had essentially thrown her directly into the path of those doubts before running away.

’Kentucky, we’re entering the central district now,’ Rean suddenly said through their soul connection after meeting Celis at one of the gates leading into the central district.

Of course, Kentucky had already heard everything from Roan and Sister Orb. At the same time, as he made his way out of the meeting hall, he glanced at a gigantic pillar standing right in the middle of the building. Kentucky now knew that something important was hidden within it. ’Sister Orb, are you sure it’s this?’

[Celis’s readings are perfect. The moment you entered that room, I knew it was connected to the place where the Womb exists.]

Roan was seeing everything through their soul connection. ’Talk about hiding in plain sight...’

Rean couldn’t help but ask, ’Wait, if this pillar in the Rosvelt Sect is where the Womb is, can’t Sister Orb absorb the Goslau Great Void Echo if we touch it?’

’I’m absolutely not touching it, alright?!’ Kentucky immediately refused to even consider trying it out. He had no intention of becoming some sort of test subject just because they had discovered a possible connection between the pillar and the Womb.

’Forget about that for now,’ Roan cut in. ’It would attract too much attention anyway. Kentucky, meet Rean and Celis outside.’

’The sect definitely won’t simply accept them as my helpers as they did with Kachia, okay?’ Kentucky warned. ’We’re talking about the Rosvelt Sect. There are Law Gods everywhere. If they discover that I’m secretly bringing outsiders inside, I’ll have a lot of explaining to do.’

’That’s not a problem,’ Rean said. ’You’ll just be our guide inside. Did you forget? There are no Godly or Celestial Senses here. I’ll use my Light Bending to hide Celis and me while we stick with you.’

’You want to sneak inside a sect full of Law Gods?!’ Kentucky felt like crying. ’They definitely have other detection methods, no?’

’Hehe! Don’t worry,’ Rean replied, clearly much more confident than Kentucky felt. ’That’s where the Great Minokawa comes in.’
