Chapter 4539: Don’t Work
Chapter 4539: Don’t Work
How did that happen? Obviously, Rean had used his Body Transformation Technique to change his appearance. To be more specific, he had copied the appearance of another disciple whom he had passed by near the Sect Entrance. That disciple was obviously on duty there, so the chances of him suddenly appearing in this part of the sect were nearly zero. As long as Rean didn’t encounter the original owner of that appearance, his disguise had a good chance of remaining undiscovered.
Of course, there were still many risks involved. Rean continued to believe that the Rosvelt Sect might possess some method of detecting everyone inside its territory, so he had only dared to attempt such a thing because there were many cultivators moving around at the moment. With so many disciples, elders, guards, and other personnel rushing back and forth, one more disciple simply wouldn’t stand out nearly as much.
"High-Elder Falasliu, what should we do?" one of the elders asked.
Falasliu narrowed his eyes as he examined the two badges again. Unfortunately, he couldn’t find anything else he could use from them. Whatever Kentucky and Kachia had done before leaving the badges behind, they had apparently made sure that the sect couldn’t use them to track their current location.
He then looked around at Rean and the other disciples and elders waiting for his orders.
"Continue the search," Falasliu ordered. "However, focus mainly on the central section of Dlaval City and make sure it is completely closed. Of course, as Sect Master said, we also need some of you to search the sect as well, just in case."
"High-Elder Falasliu, isn’t there any way to pinpoint their location?" This time, the one who asked was Rean. That was something he wanted to know more than anything else at the moment, and this was as good an opportunity as any. "In Dlaval, other than the badge, is there any other method that could be used to find them?"
"There is not," Falasliu answered with a shake of his head. His expression was already terrible, and he clearly didn’t want to waste any more time answering questions. "Enough of that already. Just go and continue the search."
Everyone nodded, including Rean, before departing from the area. Falasliu remained behind with the Sect Master and a few other High-Elders, seemingly discussing something among themselves. From their expressions, Rean could tell that the situation was far more serious than the ordinary disciples around them probably realized.
Rean followed the others for a while, blending naturally into the group as they moved through the sect. However, as soon as an opportunity appeared and no one was paying particular attention to him, he quietly separated from them and headed somewhere else.
To be more specific, he went toward one of the closed areas of the sect.
Thanks to Kentucky’s earlier movements through the Rosvelt Sect, he already knew about a few such locations. Based on the description Coyui had given them, it was also likely that Coyui had left the underground through some entrance located somewhere in the surrounding area.
"Is this it?" Rean asked after arriving in front of another gate.
Several Aura Gods and a few Zeon Gods guarded the entrance, and even from a distance, Rean could tell that this area was treated very differently from the rest of the sect. Kentucky, Celis, and Kachia were nearby as well. Naturally, Kentucky was the one continuously using the Light Bending Skill to keep Celis and Kachia hidden while Rean was moving around in his disguise.
"It must be, right?" Kentucky answered. "When I flew back toward the meeting hall, this was the only place nearby that seemed to be heavily guarded. I don’t know much about arrays, but even I can tell there are quite a few of them in there. Then there are those guys guarding the entrance on top of that."
Celis was also concentrating on the area. His senses regarding energy were far superior to anyone else’s in the group when it came to subtle characteristics and lingering traces.
"I can detect a little of the energy that was on Coyui’s body lingering there," Celis said after a moment. "Whatever is inside that place, Coyui definitely passed through it. At the very least, he exited the underground through this entrance."
Kachia still looked rather confused. It was almost as if she had simply come along for the ride without really understanding what everyone else was investigating.
"Is this about that so-called special energy you mentioned?" she asked.
Rean and Celis immediately turned to Kentucky.
Kentucky quickly shook his head and explained through their Soul Connection. ’Don’t look at me like that. I didn’t tell her anything unnecessary. All I said was that there is a special energy we are looking for, but that was about it.’
Rean sighed slightly before turning back to Kachia. "We actually don’t know if this place is related to it," he explained. "However, whatever is inside is very important to us."
Kachia nodded in understanding and didn’t insist on learning more.
"What will you do then?" she asked instead. "It doesn’t look like you can simply enter that place even with all this hiding of ours."
Celis agreed with her. "She is right. First of all, we are still inside the sect and surrounded by other cultivators. I’m afraid we will be discovered sooner or later if we remain here for too long. We also can’t forget that the Rosvelt Sect likely has some method of finding intruders inside its territory."
"That’s the thing," Rean said, his expression turning thoughtful. "When I asked Falasliu whether there was any way to pinpoint where our group was, he said there wasn’t. According to him, they could only search in the old-fashioned way."
"Are you saying they don’t have detection arrays?" Celis asked.
"Not exactly," Rean explained. "What I believe is that they don’t have detection arrays covering the entire sect. Instead, they probably only have them in more important locations. That entrance guarded by those disciples ahead of us must be one of those places."
There was another reason why Rean’s group hadn’t immediately fled the sect after seeing Coyui.
Once again, they had believed that going too far away from the other cultivators would cause them to stand out in whatever detection systems the Rosvelt Sect possessed. By remaining close to disciples and other sect members, they could blend into the many auras around them, much like Rean and Celis had done while hiding on Kentucky’s back in his real form.
Yet, from the looks of it, even the Rosvelt Sect didn’t possess such overwhelming capabilities. At the very least, it had nothing comparable to the Sacred Relic, which could detect cultivators throughout its entire sphere of influence.
"If that wasn’t the case," Rean continued, "there would be no need for them to send all those disciples out, spread pictures of us throughout the city, and even seal the entire central section of Dlaval. Once again, I do believe they have detection arrays, but only simple ones and only at critical locations. At the end of the day, their lack of knowledge compared to the regions outside Woster is too staggering."
"How sure are you?" Kachia asked.
Rean pondered for a moment. "I would put the chances at around eighty percent, give or take."
And Rean was right.
As mentioned before, the Rosvelt Sect did have simple detection arrays. However, those mainly covered the borders of the sect, which were naturally the places from which one would expect infiltrators to enter. Rean was also correct that some of the more important locations inside the sect possessed additional detection measures.
Rosvelt was already a huge exception among the powers of Woster. The vast majority of organizations in the isolated world didn’t even possess the resources necessary to maintain that many detection arrays. For most of them, having such arrays around their most critical locations was already considered a luxury.
Yes, Godly Creatures were abundant, but everything else...
"Those seem like pretty good odds," Kentucky said with a nod. "Then what will you do?"
"What else?" Rean shrugged. "If our theory that the pillar goes straight down and is related to the Womb is correct, I can only go down as well and take a look. As Roan said, the fact that Coyui was teleported to that place after we arrived through the same array can’t be a coincidence."
"The Womb?" Kachia remembered the story. "You mean the thing where you found Luxa? Is there another one?"
"Yes," Rean nodded. There was no real reason to hide that information from Kachia. Luxa herself was already known to the others, and the existence of her Womb wasn’t some secret the twins’ group desperately needed to protect either.
"Ah!" Then Kachia suddenly noticed something. "Only now did I realize it. Where is Luxa?"
*Rawr!*
Suddenly, light flashed for a brief moment on Rean’s shoulder, and the three-tailed fox appeared there.
"Hahaha!" Rean immediately laughed. "This girl is truly good. She used her own Yang Energy manipulation to control the Light Element and then perform my Light Bending Skill. Her talent for Yang Energy is absolutely incredible!"
*Rawr!*
Luxa puffed out her chest with pride as her Godly Sense Message reached Rean’s mind. ’I am great!’
Rean stroked her fur with a smile. "You are indeed. But for now, hide again. I have to go into that place and take a look."
"How are you going to enter?" Kachia asked once more. "You said it yourself. That place definitely has to be one of the locations where detection arrays can be found, not to mention the obvious protection and barrier arrays we can already see from here."
Light bent around Rean’s shoulder again, and Luxa disappeared from sight. As for Rean, his smile only grew wider. "Do you think I went to deliver your badges to the Sect Master and the High-Elders just for fun?"
As he said that, Rean’s body began to change once more. His bones, muscles, facial features, and even the subtle characteristics of his appearance shifted until someone else stood where Rean had been.
"The reason I did that wasn’t only so I could take a good look at him and touch him when passing over the badges," Rean explained. "I needed to touch him and read his aura."
Kentucky immediately understood where Rean was going with this.
"To be more specific," Rean continued, a mischievous grin appearing on his face, "I read Falasliu’s aura."
Rean then looked toward the heavily guarded entrance. "How I love the fact that Godly and Celestial Senses don’t work in this place. Hahaha!"
